Daddy Issues
By the time I returned to Ben's room, the kids had gone as well, and it was time for supper. Ben was energized by the visit and his mood had improved greatly. I bent over him to give him a kiss, and he suddenly got a sparkle in his eye. “What's this?” He buried his nose in my crotch and took a big whiff. “Somebody's been having a good time. Why didn't I notice this before? Probably too worried about the visitors, I guess. So, now, tell me all about it. I want details!”
I began with Helmut finding me at the bar, and then told him about Kevin's unexpected adventure and how Mike was now going to act as his mentor. “They used the word 'mentor', but I think he's probably going to be doing the daddy thing, just not using that term so as not to step on Helmut's toes about being Kevin's adoptive father. He's even getting Kevin to call him Sir.”
Ben ate it up, and energetically asked question after question, until I had repeated everything at least twice. The orderly interrupted us to take Ben down to the dining room for dinner. Again I couldn't help but think about the young man's dick. I wondered how long it was. Was it cut or uncut? Did it curve to one side or hang straight down? When was the last time he came? What did his cum smell like? Taste like? When was the last time he shared it with someone? I was hungry to see it, to touch it, to make it hard and make it squirt. His pants were fairly tight, and his bulge was not centered. He wore his junk on the left, and I could see a faint outline of his flaccid penis suggested at the top of his leg. For a moment everything else disappeared, and in that moment I saw him twitch and saw his dick begin to grow and snake its way down his leg.
The orderly quickly positioned himself behind the wheelchair, obviously confused and embarrassed, and waited for me to take my leave. “I'm going back into town for supper,” I said. “I want to check in with Helmut and see how Kevin did at his first mentoring session.” I kissed Ben goodbye and followed them to the elevator. The orderly continued to act oddly and hide behind the wheelchair, but as he turned to head for the dining room, I could see that his dick was now halfway down to his knee and quite prominent. I chuckled to myself. Clearly he was wearing boxers or going commando. “Briefs,” I thought, “Or a jock strap. Maybe that would help. But then again, maybe he likes showing it off.”
Hope House was as busy and hectic as ever. I ate with the kids and was subjected to at least four different versions of their visit with Ben, all of which differed in detail, but agreed on the important things. That they were all excited to see him and tried in every way they could to cheer him up. By the end of the meal I was exhausted, but made the trek out to the carriage house to check in with Helmut.
“What are you doing here? Helmut blurted out when he opened the door.
“Glad to see you too,” I responded with a chuckle. “Just wanted to check in and see how Kevin's doing. Any ill effects from the disastrous hook up?”
“None that I can see. Come on in and see for yourself.”
Kevin was in the small office Helmut had set up in what was originally the dining room. He was playing a computer game that involved lots of explosions and some sort of fantasy creatures. “Yo, lord of the joysticks, put it on pause and come say hello to your Uncle Joey.”
“He's not my real uncle, and anyways, I just saw him a few hours ago.”
Helmut put a hand on his shoulder and leaned in close. “He came specifically to check on you after your ordeal this morning. Show some manners.”
“Fine!” he sighed, pausing the game and coming out into the living room. “Hey Joey, What's up? How's Ben doing?”
“He seems to be getting better, slow but sure. The visit from the kids this afternoon seemed to cheer him up no end.”
“So I heard. They haven't shut up about it since I got home. Why do you think I'm hiding out in here with the old man?”
Helmut plopped down on the couch beside him and caught him in a strangle hold. “Cause you love me, that's why.” And for good measure he gave him a noogie.
“Get off!” Kevin struggled free from his father's playful hold and moved to the furthest end of the couch. “You're such a dork sometimes.”
It was clear that Kevin wasn't in the playful mood his father was, but I didn't sense anything particularly troubling, just a moody teenager struggling to find his own identity apart from his father's. Such rebellion seemed healthy to me, so I asked. “You know, Ben would like to see you as much as anybody. When are you going to come over an pay him a visit? You haven't seen him since he moved out of the hospital.”
He gave his father a significant glance, which was clearly questioning whether he had to or not.
“Don't you want to see Ben,” I asked. “He loves you so much.”
“I know,” Kevin whined. “And I love him too, it's just that...well, it's hard to see him like that. The hospital was creepy enough, but now he's in a nursing home, with all those old people waiting to die. Eww.”
“I see,” I replied, searching for a thoughtful way to respond to this fear. “Are you afraid that Ben may die?”
“No!” His response was a little too quick and a little too adamant. “I'm not that stupid, I know he's supposed to recover.”
“I'm not suggesting that you are stupid. Fear doesn't work on a rational level. Even if you know something, you can still be afraid.”
He thought for a minute then added, “It's just that if something like this can happen to Ben, who was so rugged and strong, maybe something like that could happen to me.”
“And therein lies wisdom.” He looked up, surprised by this response. “You're right. At any moment something unexpected could happen to any of us. It could injure us, cripple us, or even kill us. The only certainty is that life is uncertain. But we can't let that stop us from living. Even hiding in the security of your own home is no guarantee. Instead we need to face that fear and move beyond it to do the things we are given to do. You were lucky enough to be given a second chance at a family, and this family has loved you since day one. Your job, even if it is difficult, is to love them back.”
“I know,” he conceded. “Alright, I'll come visit Ben.”
“Good,” I smiled, “I'll tell him you're coming tomorrow. And bring your father, that bastard hasn't been in for a few days either.”
“I'm right here asshole,” Helmut interjected with mock indignation.
“Oh, I'm not sure about tomorrow,” Kevin interrupted. “I'm doing something with Mike.”
“That was the other thing I wanted to ask. What did Mike have to say after we left? Anything interesting?”
“Good luck with that one,” Helmut groaned. “He won't tell me anything.”
Kevin hesitated. “Nothing much, just setting up some ground rules and getting to know each other a bit.”
“Sounds good,” I enthused, “What sort of ground rules? “
“He hasn't made you lick his boots yet, has he?” Helmut added with a smirk.
“Eww, Dad, don't be gross.” Then turning back to me he said, “Nothing really, but he does want me to call him Sir, I'm not sure about that.”
“That's nothing, it's just a standard...” I caught Helmut”s eye and gave him a look that stopped him cold. It seemed obvious to me that any self respecting teenage boy would talk to anyone else first before confiding in their own dad about things sexual. If Kevin was going to talk, Helmut had to be gone. He caught on immediately when I motioned to the door with my head and nodded. “What was that?” He acted as if he had heard something outside and rose to investigate. “I'll be right back. Keep Joey company while I'm gone.”
“I didn't hear anything,” Kevin protested, but Helmut was already out the door.
