Seth’s Story

I loved my job, even at its worst I felt lucky that I was able to do what I did, but I also felt like I was always doing it. 24/7. Working for a nonprofit meant always being short staffed and always being on call. The Village was well funded, but most of the money went to helping the those who needed it, not to staff. We spent a lot to maintain Harrington House so the guys had a place to stay, and invested in essentials like cars so they had transportation, cell phones, food, clothes, and job searches, for future growth etc. Like I said, we were well funded, but we put it all back into the guys. All that to say, that I was beyond excited to have Caleb as a summer intern. BA and Rodney were escited too… all three of us had task lists a mile long for the poor kid. But I think our kids were more excited than anyone to have him home.

Caleb was staying across the street with Craig, Colton, and Ella, I’d take him to work, that is if he could handle carpooling with four kids without going insane. It was almost the end of the school year, then add Caleb… the flipping excitement level was through the roof. On his first day he dressed in khaki pants with a blue and white checked button down shirt, exactly like me. He jumped into the front seat; the kids were beyond excited to have him along for the ride.

“Hi CaLLLub” Izzy said exaggerating the “L”. That was her thing with Caleb, he had taught her how to annunciate her L’s way back when (I secretly hated that. I loved Izzy-ease) Izzy added with a giggle, “You dwessed like Daddy Zeff.”

I chuckled, “Yup, we’re twinning today” he blushed, and shrugged, but he was smiling. We stopped at BroMax to pick up Teddy, he crawled over Ali and Izzy, and flipped over the seat into the third row, then buckled himself into his booster seat next to Freddy and we were ready to go. The kids all knew exactly what to do… it was our routine.

As predicted, the four kids drove Caleb crazy the entire trip (he loved it). I was trying to talk to him about the day ahead, but every time we got into a conversation, Ali would interrupt with “Caleb, Caleb, Caleb…” Until he turned around and answered him.

“Yes, Ali?”

He’d respond with a cute, shy, quiet, “Hi.” Then he’d giggle (he did it at least five times), any chance of an actual conversation was dead about two minutes after we got out of the driveway.

We dropped the older boys and Izzy off at school first (it was almost the end of the semester), and picked DJ up from Gina. Our last stop was Mrs. Mavis’s to drop off Ali and DJ; after Ali gave Caleb a massive hug… we were off to the office.

On the ride over I tried to give Cay an idea of my typical day (as if that was really a thing). He kept looking at me with this dopey smile, I don’t think he heard a damn word I said, he was just so excited to be there. I knew the kid looked up to me, and yeah… I kinda liked it. After all, he reminded me a lot of myself at his age. He had felt like a kindred soul ever since I had taken him to his parent’s house to pick up his belongings. I had so many awful flashbacks of my own parents that day, then as I got to know him, it became clear how extremely similar we were. Our connection was strong and I was so proud that he wanted to follow in my footsteps.

Anyway, I spent the rest of the ride over telling him how boring, mundane, and routine my job could be… I was proven a liar the second we walked into the office. BA and Rodney were in the reception area gathered around some young guy I’d never seen before. Marilee was standing in the corner with her arms crossed looking stressed out as hell.

“Thank God you’re here, Seth.” Marilee said when I walked in.

“Get me some gauze, and rubbin’ alcohol from the first aid kit, darlin” BA barked at me, interrupting Marilee. That’s when I realized the unknown kid’s face was bloody and bruised. I ran to the kitchen and grabbed what BA had asked for, plus a couple of wet wash clothes, and a bunch of other shit from the first aid kit. When I got back to the reception area, I crouched next to BA and started helping her clean the guy up. His eye was almost closed shut, his nose was bleeding, he looked like hail.

“I took out the trash about a half hour ago and found him curled up in the alley behind the dumpster, so I brought him here” Marilee said explaining how he the guy came us, and filling the silence while we tended to his wounds. The kid was a bloody mess; he wasn’t the first lost kid she had brought to us.

“Caleb, call 911 and tell them to send an ambulance” I said. Caleb jumped to the reception desk and made the call without hesitating. I listened to him as I worked on the kid. His voice was steady, and his communication clear, the ambulance showed up within minutes and the paramedics took over for me and BA.

Officer Andy showed up shortly after the Ambulance. “What’s going on, Seth?” He asked me.

“I have no clue, I just walked in.”

Merilee was behind me and started to tell him how she found the guy out back. He hadn’t spoken a word to anyone, we didn’t even know his name. “He was bloody, and crying…”

“These look like bite marks; did something bite you?” one of the paramedics asked interrupting our conversation. But there was no answer. They’d been trying to talk to him since they walked in… he wasn’t talking. I didn’t know if he was afraid, or in shock, or what.

The kid was sitting on a chair with the paramedics around him, I came up behind him and asked, “What’s your name?” He still didn’t respond, I spoke quietly just telling him he was safe, and we’d make sure he got the help he needed, etc. It reminded me of our first night with Freddy and Izzy; Zach and I just held them and talked to them, letting them know everything was okay, and hoping they’d eventually trust us. As y’all know, it worked… well my Mickey Mouse pancakes played a role too. Anyway, the guy started to relax a bit, so I kept talking.

Caleb moved timidly over to us and stood next to me. In the middle of my quiet rambling, he introduced himself to the kid and asked him his name again. This time he answered.

His voice was gravely and pained, “Carty” he said. I wasn’t sure I heard him right so I asked again. “Carty, short for Carter” He said low and slow.

The paramedics had checked him out, then backed off him a bit. They asked him what happened, and about the bitemark again. He answered in a slow measured tone, “Um yes it’s a bitemark” was all he said, we all waited for more information but none came.

“The skin isn’t broken, so it should be okay” The paramedic offered, they treated his wounds with ointment and bandages. Officer Andy asked us to leave the room while he talked to him, and the paramedics continued to patch him up. We all went into the therapy room to discuss the situation, almost a half hour passed before Officer Andy came in to give us an update, Caleb left and went to keep Carty company.

“So, I think he’s one of your tribe” Officer Andy said with a smirk. “Sounds like some guy picked him up at a club last night, the guy got… um… a little rough… okay, maybe a lot rough. The bitemarks aint from an animal, they’re from the guy.” Andy paused and took a deep breath, then he exhaled and said, “The kid won’t say the word “rape” but that’s sure as hell what it sounds like to me.” I felt a little for Andy, he was blushing as he gave us the details he could share. “Bottom linin’ it for ya’, he aint pressin’ charges, his phone and money are gone, he aint from around here, and aint got nowhere to go.”

“We got an open spot on the second floor” Rodney said. “We’ll need to do a background check before we can let him stay.”

“Done” Andy said. “Carter Barstow, 18 years old, from Connecticut, college student at Wake” Andy Rattled off. “No priors, no record at all…” then for good measure added, “Capricorn” and grinned. “He checks out, seems like a good kid who was on vacation and got into a little trouble.” Then he added, “The paramedics want to take him back to the hospital, he’ll probably spend the night there… after that, it’s up to him.” Me, BA, and Rodney talked it over with officer Andy and decided he’d be safe upstairs for a few days after he was released from the hospital.

After our discussion we headed back to the reception area. The paramedics were getting ready to take him to the hospital. I talked to him briefly before they loaded him up, “Carty, they’re going to take you back to the hospital and may keep you there overnight. Is there anyone you want us to call? Like your parents?” He shook his head. “Roommates? Friends” More head shaking.

“Do you have a safe home, Carty?” I asked. He didn’t answer.

“It’s okay” Cay said as he reached for Carty’s hand. Surprisingly, Carty let him hold his hand. “These guys helped me when I was homeless. You can trust them.” Carty opened his eyes, looked at Cay, and let out a heavy sigh as if he made a desperate decision to trust him… and us.

“I’m from Connecticut and go to School at Wake” he said sheepishly. It checked out with what Andy told us. He took a deep breath. Exhaled then continued, “well, I guess I went to Wake. I decided to drop out at the end of the semester, when I told my parents, they just cut me off.” I just gave him an understanding nod. “I was pre-med. My dad’s a doctor, my mom’s a doctor, my brother just graduated med school, married his girlfriend and moved back to Connecticut … just as planned. My parents expected me to do the same thing…” Then quiet Carty became loud, emotional Carty. “No!” he yelled. “No. No. No! I don’t want to be a doctor, I don’t want to move back to Connecticut, and I sure as fuck am not marrying some woman, having two point five kids and moving into a brick colonial down the road from my parents. NO!” He stopped there, like he had just remembered where he was.

“How did you get here” Officer Andy asked.

“I… um… caught a ride with some guys and came to just kinda hang on the beach… I think the guy who um… the guy I met at the club, stole my phone and my money when he um...” Carty got quiet for a minute, but then said, “I just have my wallet with my license, nothing else.”

“What about the friends you came with?” I asked, Can we call to let them know you’re okay?”

“I don’t really know ‘em. I mean, they’re just a few guys I’ve seen around campus. We were at the same bar drinking a coupla’ nights ago, and we started playing pool together when one of the guys said, “let’s drive to the beach!” So, we did.”

“So, you drove here drunk all the way from Winston-Salem” Officer Andy said shaking his head.

“No. One of the guys only had one beer; he drove.”

“Well can we give them a call to come pick you up?”  Andy said as he opened his pad ready to take the number.

“I don’t know their numbers, and I think they already left town.”

“How about your parents?” I asked again, and again he went silent.

After about a full minute of silence, Marilee quietly said, “I’m glad you’re alright, Carty. I need to get back to the café. You’ll be safe here.”

She turned to leave when Carty spoke again, “Hey, um… thanks for not leaving me there… you know like the rest of the trash.”

Marilee was trying to sneak out the door without crying, but his words got to her, she walked over to the kid and asked, “can I hug you?”

He nodded and whispered, “Please.”

Marilee walked over to him and embraced him, I heard her whisper in his ear, “You are not trash, and don’t you ever let anyone make you feel like you are.” She was good people; she’d gotten dragged into The Village drama on several occasions over the years. She was one of us now. After a long hug she turned and reluctantly left Carty and the rest of us behind.

“We gotta get going guys” One of the Paramedics said as he wheeled Carty towards the door. “You guys can come meet him at the hospital” He said then shouted the info at us as they took him away.

“We’re gonna go. Right” Caleb asked.

“Yeah” I said without hesitation. “BA, clear my schedule. Rodney get everything set up paperwork-wise for an intake, I got a feeling we’ll be bringing him back when he’s released” I said as I grabbed my bag (the one I had barely even put down), and headed back out the door to the Atlas with Caleb right behind me. BA and Rodney stayed back to clean up the mess and prepare for Carter’s likely return.

We got in the car and drove in silence for a few blocks, “You okay?” I asked of the trembling Cay beside me.

His voice was shaky, “Um… I guess” he squeaked out. “What’s…. um what’s next?” he asked.

“We go to the hospital to find out what’s going on, we try to figure out his situation, then we come up with a short-term plan, and if he needs it, a long-term plan.”

Cay was still trembling, but he stepped up, “I want to help him. Can I be there when you meet with him. I did those plans with you when I first came to The Village, some of it was really confusing. It was hard trying to figure out what I needed when it felt like I needed everything, and trying to plan for my future when I wasn’t convinced that I really had one.” His words were sincere, and eye opening as fuck. I was so focused on helping these kids that sometimes I forgot how overwhelming it all was for them.

I thought about what Caleb said, “I think that’s a great idea. I’m good with it if Carter is.”

At the hospital, we sat with Carter while they looked him over in the ER, and then followed him up to his room when they decided to check him in for overnight observation. Caleb and I sat with him until it was time to pick up the kids. Carter confirmed that he was comfortable with Caleb being part of our discussions. We learned a little more from our visit. The bottom line was that he dropped out of school and his parents disowned him. He had nowhere to go, and no plan for the future. He agreed to come back to The Village with us when he was released and we would work together on a plan.

As we were walking through the parking garage Caleb timidly asked, “how can we just leave him here?”

“He’s in good hands, he’ll be safe here” I said. Then I put my hand on his shoulder as we walked, “He’s gonna be okay, Cay. We’ll help him, I promise.” It was obvious that my answer didn’t make him feel any better about leaving the guy behind.

Caleb was silent during the carpool home. The kids all tried to get him to smile, but he was lost in his own world. I understood… it was one thing to study psychology and social work… it was another to actually experience it and realize that bad shit happened to good people. And I can tell you, Cay was thrown in head first. When I dropped him off, I told him, “You did good today, Carter trusts you, that’s the key to success with your clients.” He smiled, but he was clearly upset by everything that had happened.

We dropped Teddy off next, then it was another night at home. The kids got changed and were in the playroom, I was in the kitchen making dinner when Zach came home. “Daddy Sach!” Izzy screeched as she ran to the door to greet Zach with Ali right behind... just like they did every night (FYI that one moment every night made all the chaos in our lives worth it… God, we loved those kids so much). We had a loud, chaotic dinner with the kids as usual, watched a movie together (some Disney princess crap that we had seen about 320742349723 times). After the kids went off to bed, me and Zach sat in the living room and talked about our days. Of course, what happened with Carter dominated the conversation.

Zach had his arm around me and was stroking my hair as we sat on the couch and talked. I just melted into his shoulder; I was so lucky to have him. When I stopped talking, I cranked my neck up and turned my head and planted a tender kiss on his soft, full lips. “Thanks for listening.”

He whispered softly as he leaned in for another kiss, “Always. That’s what we do.” I could feel his lips smiling as we continued to kiss, and kiss, and kiss, then make out. There was so much passion between us that the heat made us both sweat, so… the shirts came off. Even with everything going on in our world, Zach managed to keep his body so freaking perfect… it was still the body of the soccer jock that mesmerized me in college… okay, maybe a little more solid except for his abs that had consumed a lot of leftover chicken nuggets, hotdogs, and fries off the kids abandoned plates over the last couple of years (waste not, want not), but he was still hot as frick! Hell, hotter than ever.

Feeling his bare chest against mine as we made out made me hard as hell, “should we move upstairs?” I whispered.

“Why? What’s wrong with the living room? I was just thinking about bending you over that coffee table and eating that sweet ass” He chuckled.

“Damn, you’re in a mood.” I laughed back. “The kids could walk in any minute, let’s go to the bedroom and lock the door.”

“Seth, they’re passed out… a freaking tornado whipping through this place couldn’t wake them up” He said with a snort as he moved away from me, stood, then dropped his pants. Briefs, and all. His magnificence was staring me in the face as I sat on the couch. I reached our, grabbed his ass to pull him closer. I gave the tip of his manhood a quick lick, then I lifted it so I could give him a lick from balls to head. Zach’s scent… my addiction, my aphrodisiac… filled my nostrils. That clean sweat smell had owned me since the first time we were together in college. After a few fervent licks, I engulfed him until my nose was buried in his sandy blonde bush. I bobbed up and down on Zach’s hard flesh pop several times. My hand followed my mouth working his shaft with precision and awakening every lustful nerve along the way. I knew Zach. I knew his body, and I absolutely knew his cock! I brought him to the brink, right where I wanted him, then pulled off of him and slapped his balls sending his orgasm swimming back to his balls, turning them a patriotic shade of blue. It was cruel, but I knew he loved it.

He was breathing heavy when he smirked playfully and scoffed, “Oh you’re paying for that one Daddy Zeff.” He pulled me onto my feet kissing me passionately as he undid my pants and dropped them to the ground. Next, he reached into my underwear and grabbed my rock hard member and started to stroke it. Then he did something very un-Zach-like, he ran his forearm across the coffee table knocking some Legos, Golden Books, Barbie shit, and other crap onto the floor. “Now bend over.”

He was being hot and sexy, and all I could do was giggle. “yes sir” I said as I got into position. It was all so sexy, but all so, so… not us that we were both snickering a little. Zach got on his knees behind me as I was bent over the little table, I felt his talented tongue go to work on my musky hole. Fuck, it was amazing! He knew me inside and out and had me writhing in a lustful haze that helped me forget the anguish of the day… at least for the moment. “Fuck Zach, keep doing that” I whimpered as my husband pushed his wide, talented tongue deeper into me… he was fricking licking my insides! He licked me for what seemed like an eternity, then pulled his tongue out way too soon. His ridged Zachhood felt blunt against my hole as he pushed his way in. I felt the veins of his shaft as he made his way in. He didn’t go slow and wasn’t exactly gentle.

“This is for giving me blue balls” he grunted with a playful chuckle as his balls slapped against my ass.

“Fuck yes” I murmured. “Fuck me, Zach. Hard.” The words just left my mouth without any forethought. I wanted a good fucking. Zach was kneeling behind me as he hammered his thick, veiny cock into me with powerful thrust after powerful thrust. The mix of pleasure and discomfort were a perfect blend as his big cock stretch my tight hole and touched all the right spots at the same time. “Harder” I begged as I held onto the tiny, wobbly table.

Zach fucked me hard and fast, “I’m so close, baby.”

“Cum in me. Breed me, Zach” I begged. His hips moved fast and the table wobbled more as he fulfilled my request. After about a dozen more strokes I felt Zach’s cock thicken, then unload inside my hole, sending his cum deep inside me. He fucked me a little longer turning his cum into a froth inside me.

Reluctantly, he pulled out. Then he commanded, “Get on your back.” I did as I was told, and before I knew what was even happening, Zach had pushed my knees to my chest and was eating his cum out of my hole. “Push it out for me” He demanded. I complied.

When he was satisfied that he had rescued all his seed from my hole, he licked his way up my straining cock, took me in his mouth, and down his throat. His throat muscles squeezed my cock head and within minutes he had milked the load from my aching balls. Zach kept swallowing, slurping, and licking until my cock was clean and going limp.

The love of my life made his way up to my lips and we shared a cum-filled kiss. After that, we made our way upstairs, and into the shower to rinse off. Then went to bed where Zach spooned me to sleep.

We’d been asleep for a while when they phone rang. It was past midnight. “Hello?”

“Hey Seth, it’s Colton. Have you seen Cay? He disappeared with Ella’s car and we can’t reach him. We keep calling and texting but he’s not answering.”

So much for sleep.
