Later that day Lee lodged additional complaints against me specifically, and told the sheriff that I should be made to replace every single sign that we removed and turned in, but the sheriff just told him that we all know who the potential instigator here probably is and that “He” better watch his step, because he’s treading on thin ice.

 Betsy reassured me that this conflict in the town should only help us by showing how scared Lee is and it’s showing the town his true identity and his power hungry mentality, after all he should be working for the people, and all this commotion just for a part time job.

 Several mailings on behalf of Lee and Jerry went out to all residents in flyer form, hitting on very degrading terms. Maryann went to work on her own by putting her advertising promotional mind to work. Within a few days a separate flyer came out on behalf of Jerry distancing himself from Lee, from that point on it seemed the two were no longer joined at the hip and they were apparently separate candidates. So now it seemed we were 4 individual candidates, running on our own, and even Jerry was running against Lee. In my opinion if either Betsy or I could unseat Lee it would be a win.

 The Saturday before the election traditionally was known as “Campaign Day” on Main Street, (even though this is the first year we got to revive the tradition as there were actually candidates running) we set up a campaign stand outside of my dad’s store, complete with flyers, buttons, photos, balloons, pens and flags.

 Four stores down Betsy had done the same in front of her shop, she included flowers, candy, fruit, and small kids toys along with discount salon coupons. I walked up and greeted her and put on one of her buttons and she took one of mine.

Jerry had a crew of people mostly family, just walking up and down the street on the other side handing out his trinkets. We were all begging for their votes on Tuesday. Notably absent was Lee, which was very unusual for the buoyant ass that he was. Jerry even came over to Betsy’s and my booth and took some stuff for his youngest and I noticed one of Betsy’s buttons on Jerry’s wife, he then joked with me about how he’s apparently lost, if he lost his own wife to her beautician. I thought he was more than gracious and think I realized just then he really wasn’t the bad guy. I bid him good luck and promised to support him if he won and he did the same back.

 Just as we were finishing up talking, not to be outdone, a crowd of people seemed to be gathered down the end of Main Street. They appeared to be walking toward the center of town and gathered at the town square, a small monument park area. The boys and I left Maryann at the booth and we all headed down to see what was going on. Damn it. It was Lee with a gathering of maybe 50-75 people with banners and shouting anti gay slurs and religious zealots spewing garbage and rumors about me and Betsy and even some discouraging things about Jerry. I was so upset at this makeshift protest. When we realized these weren’t even people from the town, they weren’t even voters, they were people Lee brought in. I heard one of the other storekeepers indicate he saw them get off busses up the street and organize this protest parade.

 Just then the sheriff pulled up and grabbed Lee aside and they exchanged some words rather heatedly. All I could make out was Lee saying they weren’t leaving, and next election that the sheriff was up for, this town would be voting for a new sheriff, which didn’t seem to faze the sheriff, except he said back in reply “well good if you’re still here, then I don’t want to be sheriff”. As the sheriff tried to disperse us non protesters to leave the protesters alone in the park, which we all did rather peacefully. That is except Devin and Hulk, typical they decided to mingle into the crowd spreading the word of the “gay farmers” as Devin called it, the guy can be a nut case sometimes and an agitator, but we all love him for what he does. He was touching people and shaking their hands, dancing and prancing like the typical stereotype “Gay boy” even slurring his words and bending his wrists, he tried like hell to piss every person off in one form or another. Hulk took off his shirt and exposed his Hairy “Hulkness” as he began mingling and talking to the crowd who seemed to give him all the space he needed as they scattered in fear.

 With that the protesters started to march up the main street, physically blocking traffic singing patriotic songs and waving their flags and banners to which the sheriff came driving up as they attempted to block him. He had his lights and siren blaring and he was asking to disperse over his roof mounted speaker, and he advised them that he had notified the state police and they were on their way. He got out of the car and approached Lee and pulled his handcuffs out and began to arrest Lee who took a swing at him, then the crowd became unruly and began banging the police car and heading to free Lee from the sheriff, Devin and Hulk who was still amongst the crowd grabbed Lees hand and helped the sheriff put the cuffs on as Josh and Tommy and other store keepers jumped in and cleared a path to help the sheriff get Lee into the car, all the while getting yelled at, getting hit and shoved (in a somewhat non violent way) as more townspeople became horrified at what was happening in our little downtown. The sheriff drove off with Lee and we returned to our booths, but the protesters dispersed around the streets mingling into the crowd as the four state trooper cars pulled up. The troopers went to where the two busses were parked and issued tickets to every person getting back on the bus for disturbing the peace and unlawful demonstrating without a permit, blocking traffic and disrupting business and whatever else they could, not everyone went back to the buses as they found alternate means to get home, just to avoid the police confrontation.

 We three candidates then all gathered and decided to eat Lunch at the small Italian restaurant across from the store together, showing unity while the true townspeople looked on at our unification. That night I went home to the JD Lodge where Josh, Devin and Tommy were gathered, still telling Marie about all the day’s events, all drinking heavily in a celebratory mood. They were convinced that if nothing more Lee would be done on Tuesday night. Devin and Tommy finally left, and Josh and I went up to bed and checked on the kids first. Josh hugged me and said I told you, that you have this. I replied that I wasn’t too sure, look at today’s commotion, what if the town thinks it’s all because of us and they’d be better without us. He said nonsense and took me to bed.

 Meanwhile Tommy and Devin got home and Tommy began yelling at Devin for his antics and that he might have started something or gotten hurt if things got out of hand, and Devin with a shit eating grin just looked at Tommy and smiled before pouting back. Tommy got even more aggravated that he hopped over the couch and began playfully beating Devin up, to which Devin yelled “oh Stop! Stop it! You’re hurting my frail little body, please stop”. This playful banter made Tommy more aggravated with his attitude and there on the living room floor they began a mock wrestling match. Tommy knowing he couldn’t take Devin, he began tickling and then grabbed his crotch and yanked those balls of Devin’s till he yelled “UNCLE” “UNCLE” Tommy then kissed Devin lying on the floor as he straddled him and slid his hands under his shirt, squeezing his taught nipples while they continued to kiss.

 Before they got too hot and heavy Baker 2 (Dick) was calling their name as he walked in the back door, it was normal to leave the back door open and people and workers always just walked in. Tommy yelled from the floor behind the couch, “Down Here”, he replied can I talk to you? Devin looked at Tommy and Tommy said sure come on in. Baker 2 was just coming into view and Tommy began to stand with an obvious hard on, as he was standing over Devin, and Baker 2 apologetically embarrassed for interrupting, Tommy said nonsense, what’s up as Devin and Tommy took a seat on the couch.

He said well, he was a bit taken back by today’s activities in town and he was really upset by the discrimination shown, and he realizes and admits to them that he might be “Bi” “but is the world really that bad that we can’t love who we want, or even just fool around or I mean date”? Baker was visibly upset and bothered by it all, Devin stood and gave him a hug and told him there’s way too much to process here but the short answer is yes, but the world is slowly changing, look at our lives and how far we’ve all come since we all first met. Then Dick said he’s between a rock and a hard place as he hasn’t even told his parents that he may be “Bi or gay” but he and his brother have discussed it somewhat casually, and his own brother gave him shit at first and was uncomfortable. So Devin suggested that they were twins and maybe his brother is just questioning or worrying again about his own sexuality and sure he’s married to Maryann, but maybe there are or were some hidden feelings going back a ways and that’s why he rejected it as being uncomfortable, but his brother does seem to be more accepting now and Devin went on to say that we would support him in whatever way he wanted, if and when he was ready to tell his parents. Then Tommy asked him if he had anyone in mind and he broke down telling them he had a fun filled night with Josh and me once and really fantasized about it. Let alone the time he spent with the four of us upstairs a few months ago, and he was merely a very interested observer to the Danish Prince action that went on here a while back too, and he seems to have had more Gay relationships lately than straight.

 Tommy got up and joined the hug and Devin kissed Tommy as Devin gave Bakers firm little football ass a squeeze. They stood there for a moment and Baker surprisingly said “I’m in” and Tommy grabbed his other ass cheek ,as the 3 way hug moved upstairs to the bedroom. Not sure how this happened or if Baker2 was planning on trying to invite himself in or not, but there they were, with Baker 2 in their bedroom. It’s already weird enough that we have fooled around. He said he understood and would share his concerns as he begins to explore his “Gay” side, and he said Gay for the first time and not Bi. Devin smiled at Tommy, and after Baker left, Tommy asked Devin whether Baker 1 (Bobby) was really the same. Devin just replied “Intriguing”.
