Our Senior Year and More

Per our usual Christmas break ritual, Josh and I flew into Springfield and Tommy picked us up at the airport, he indicated that my dad has been out of sorts lately otherwise he would have come himself. Josh looked at me and I thought to myself that that was odd he nor mom had mentioned that he wasn’t feeling well, so I shrugged my shoulders at Josh and said “Oh well, can’t be too serious if neither mentioned it.” With that Tommy said we would head to his farm first to drop off the bags and get settled, but even Tommy seemed to be off a bit, we talked about what we would get done on this upcoming visit and how we were all looking forward to time away from our daily grind and get some well deserved rest relaxation and couples time. Tommy giggled at mine and Josh’s remarks.

We finally pulled into Tommy’s farm driveway, and Oh what a change from the last summer when we stayed, they began building some log cabins and “A” frame cabins over at the dude ranch, and fresh paint on the old barn and house. Just then the Baker Twins waved at us and began coming over from the new barn to greet us, just as Devin and Maryann emerged from the front porch of the house. We all met in the middle hugging and kissing each other as Tommy grabbed the bags and we headed for the house, Josh stayed down in the kitchen with the crew while me and Tommy carried the bags up to “Our Room” (Tommy’s parents old room). I finally asked him if everything was OK, he seemed to be off. He replied Nah…..(paused) and then continued Well I promised not to say anything. I immediately said that he had to spill the beans. Spill the beans he did, he said your mom made me promise not to say anything till she was able to tell you. “Tommy…. Get on with it…. what’s wrong?” I began to say angrily. He explained that my dads been sick, real sick, basically sick enough that my mom has been filling in for him at the store, he’s been for tests and there’s no results yet and we probably won’t get them till next week after Christmas. I was just hit with a ton of bricks, and angry, WHY? Why didn’t you or anyone tell me? He explained its been going on about a couple of weeks now and your dad was avoiding the doctor and your mom finally convinced him to go yesterday and he’s been told to stay in bed till they get the results, then he went on to explain that I can’t let them know he told me, and Tommy hugged me as I insisted we head to my parents house immediately. As we began down the stairs Josh was coming up and the 3 of us met about half way Josh immediately hugging me, as he said Maryann just told him, somehow he knew Tommy told me too, so Tommy me and Josh headed for the parents.

We arrived at my childhood home, and I tried not to act worried, but there was dad greeting us at the door, mom right behind him, I looked to Tommy with an obvious question on my face, and Josh whispered “well I guess that’s a good sign?” We all greeted each other with hugs and kisses, and I broke down and said so what’s this about you not feeling well. Mom immediately gave Tommy a scowled look. Dad explained “oh you know your mother she’s always worrying about everything”. Then mom piped in “and you know you shouldn’t be out of bed”. So we all seemed a bit relieved, things weren’t that bad, or so it appeared. Mom then insisted on having Tommy and Devin over for Christmas as she requested their presence for the third or fourth time, as Kevin (Hulk) was spending it with Sammy and Juan, the Bakers were spending it with their parents and Maryann, (who has apparently been seeing Baker 1 quite seriously) Tommy wanted to bow out knowing the strain on my mom, but she wasn’t hearing any of it and he finally agreed to showing up and said he would bring multiple deserts. After some long talks, and more insight into dads condition we decided to head back to Tommy’s and let dad rest up for Christmas.

Back at Tommy’s, Maryann had begun preparing a welcoming dinner for us all as they were all in the living room already, while all the guys were still in their farm clothes and work boots, Maryann was dressed like her usual tomboy self, Tommy me and Josh were casually dressed, but we had a great time catching up with everyone, the news of Maryann and Baker 1 was exciting as we all noticed they were smitten with each other, Baker 2 however seemed a bit withdrawn, I wonder if our last encounter with him might have spurred some odd feelings. Hulk was a riot as he had no filter and he was outright trying to start an orgy as both Sammy and Juan were also there. Hulk even started a strip tease in the living room and Sammy joined in. with that Maryann said it was time for her and Baker 1 to excuse themselves and told Devin rather assertively to make sure those dishes are cleaned up before she comes in in the morning. (Reminder/ SIDE NOTE: I’ve been criticized in the past for not using the Baker Twins given names as initially identified as first introduced in chapter 11 of my story “Tommy and Devin”, let it be known Baker 1’s real name is Bobby Baker and Baker 2’s real name is Richard or “Dick” Baker for short, forgive me if I continue to use Baker 1 and Baker2, LOL, they are the somewhat dim twin Jock sons of the owner of Bakers Pharmacy in town who recently graduated high school and now are Tommy and Devin’s hired hands). (Also Hulks real name is Kevin, as initially identified in the story "Tommy and Devin" and because of the similarities between the names Kevin and Devin, Tommy and Devin began calling him by the nickname "Hulk" because of the day Devin and Tommy saw him, shirtless, naked, and had a threesome with him, and he was a huge bear in every sense of the word). (Juan and Sammy are hired hands for the thoroughbred farm who live in apartments above the new barn). (just clarifying some details for new readers who haven't read Tommy and Devin).

Shortly after Sammy, Juan and Hulk headed over to their apartment upstairs in the new barn, and that left me, Josh, Devin, and Tommy to finish cleaning up and having a few more beers than we should have. We all stumbled up the stairs to settle down for a long cold winter’s night.

The next morning we all woke up fully rested, unless it was exhausted, I’m not sure which, we took our separate showers and dressed. Unfortunately Baker 2 still only had his old clothes from last night, Devin made us all breakfast as Maryann was just heading in the door, asking how our night was. Tommy then announced t was Christmas Eve and The Bakers, Hulk and Maryann were to get their chores done by noon and take the rest of the day off, while he, Devin Josh and I had separate plans for the day.

The four of us did the Christmas Eve midnight service (yes at 10PM again, LOL) and the town square caroling with my parents, then went back to my parents house to do Christmas presents. This year seemed quite somber compared to the rest, even my mom’s decorations were much more modest than usual, and the house just didn’t scream Tacky Christmas as it usually does every other year. We all headed back to Tommy’s that night and Josh and I planned on spending the next few days with my parents, which kind of squashed some of our plans with Tommy and Devin, but they still had their hands full with the farm anyway. We were to spend New Year’s Eve with the gang, then head home for our final semester.
