My first ever story on this site, so all criticisms are welcome. Though it is unlikely this will stop you, could readers please avoid posting links in the comments; or personal advertisements. This story is for the enjoyability of readers, not a HUB for unsavoury conductments.

Part 1: -

Silence ensued. The persistent, unknowing children continuing to play their games; while the jovial chatter swiftly halted as he spoke those last few words.

"What?!" His father stood, his face contorted into a look of confusion.

"I," the boy was trembling slightly, his eyes beginning to redden; a small tear threatening to escape, "I... was accepted." He burst into a fit of part tears and part laughter, as his father pulled him into a large hug. The cheers sounded around the table from many of the family members, as his mother hurried around the table; babbling on about her genius little baby, and how proud she was.

"Thanks mum, dad." He wiped his sleeve across his eyes, removing his tears before they stained his cheeks. "Oh man, I can't believe I got in. Cambridge! Fucking cambridge!"

"Language," his mother snapped, though her face softened, "I know your excited, we all are, but the kids are still around."

"Sorry mum." She once again pulled him into a tight hug.

"I'm so proud of you. So, so proud." She sniffled slightly, pulling him back and planting a small kiss on his cheek.

"Love ya mum."

"You too," She smiled at him, then turned back to the table, "Right. I think this is cause enough... I'm uncorking the wine." A few chuckles resounded around the table, a few of the kids circling in to see what all the fuss was, as the mother left for the kitchen; though more accurately the wine bottle currently stashed in the cupboard.

That was four months ago, now the very same boy was an hour away from Cambridge University; in the back of his father's car. His mother had barely stopped talking about how life was going to be so new and exciting for him, life as a university student. Parties, not particularly interesting; girls, also not particularly interesting. His mother continued to list all the different things he would be doing, though never once failing to mention how important it was to keep on top of studying.

"Don't worry, mum. I won't really have much time for any of that, I'll be working most of the time; paying the rent and making some extra to pay back the fees. I'm not a fan of having this sitting debt on my shoulder's when I leave."

"Absolutely not! Me and your Father have decided that, as we are so proud of you; that we will be paying for your accomodation, and you don't have to worry about fees. Trust me, they are one of the easiest debts you will have to repay."

"Mum, I can't accept that. It's alot of money, besides I'm capable of working at the same time."

"You've got no choice bud," his Dad piped in, "Besides, you deserve a bit of relaxing time while there, most of your friends are taking a gap year; you deserve a little rest."

He slumped, defeated, though smiling. All his rent for the next three years, already paid. "So... food?"

"You might need a job." His mother stated, causing the three to chuckle loudly.

Again, this will be a series. I will probably begin writing Part 2 as soon as this is posted, this episode was really an introduction of one of the main characters. You'll learn his name in the next chapter. Please, as previously stated, all criticism is welcome and wanted. I hope you enjoyed it so far.
