20 years after finding Walter's Journal, Mike finally gets his answers. Walter sits down with Mike and Andrew and tells them exactly what happened on that summer day in 1922. Mike also meets the man he saw in the car on the day he interviewed Walter.
Mike interviews Hank and returns home to write his article. He buys one of Hank's books and starts to read it, it sounds vaguely familiar. He and Andrew suddenly figure out why.
Mike is worried about why Chuck is concerned with his relationship with Andrew. Mike's articles keep getting bigger. Mike and Andrew go back to Westburg for Mike's high school reunion, only to learn some disturbing news. Mike next assignment is one that a first reporter could handle, but he covers it anyway.
Mike is excited when Chuck gives him his first real writing assignment. He has to go to Nashville to cover the elections and asks Andrew to go along, just to get his mind of not being able to find a job yet. Mike takes the opportunity to meet with Chucks friend in the state records department and finds some more info on Walter.
August and Ernie are forced to confront something new after a chaotic day. A fancy dinner, a bar fight, and a drunken stumble home lead to more than just bruises or sex.
After Mike's big story, Andrew gives a very thoughtful gift. Mike tells Chuck about the journal and Chuck immediately gives Mike some new tips on finding information. Mike finds more clues and is soon has his future planned out. Andrew is not as lucky.
Mike and Andrew return to their home and get back into their routine. As the school years progresses, Mike finds a fellow student that could use some help. He puts everything he has learned from college and from Chuck into practice.
Mike learns why his mom was so upset when she called and immediately goes home. A quick trip back to Memphis to pick up Andrew and he introduces him to his mom. It doesn't go as Mike had expected.
Mike and Andrew find a little more information on Walter but are still no closer to solving the mystery. They decide to take the next step in their relationship and Mike takes the next step in his career. Before he starts his second year of classes, he gets some bad news for home.

Mike continues his search but soon gets busy with high school. He discovers his passion and soon decides on a career path. The four friends spend a final night in the shed and all head off to college.
