Cody Williams
Cody woke up in a dark bedroom; there was door that led to a small bathroom. He also saw another door; he thought it might be an exit. He tried the knob, of course it was locked. He was laying on a bed in only the underwear that he was wearing when he answered the door last night. He rubbed his hand across his face, his nose hurt like hell, he guessed it might be broken. He also felt a lump on the back of his head; he remembered the small club that attacker was holding. He could taste the dried blood in mouth. Where was he and why was he here?
The darkness of the room was shattered as the door opened. Cody’s captor entered the room and handed him a bag from McDonalds and a cup of coffee. He shielded his eyes as the captor walked toward him.
Cody asked, “What do you want with me?”
The captor said, “You need to be taught a lesson. You should know better than to cheat on your wife.”
Ollie
The Captain’s words encouraged me to continue on the path that I had started. I was glad that he had confidence in me, it sure gives my ego a boost. I was also pleased that Elliot was turning out to be good help. He did exactly what I would have done if Ridge had been the one updating the Captain.
When he gave me the name of the person that Cody had met with, I said, “I think we should give Mr. Adams a call and ask him a few questions.”
Elliot nodded, “Make sense to me.”
I dialed the number, Jared Adams answered. I said, Mr. Adams, this is Detective Hemple with the Miami Police Department.”
He said, “Yes Detective, what can I do for you?”
I asked, “Did you met Cody Williams last night for drinks at the Elser Hotel?”
Jared paused, “Um… Yes. Is there a problem?”
I said, “Can you come down to the police station? We would like to ask you a few questions.”
He paused again, “Well, I guess I could. What is this about, Detective?”
I said, “It really would be better to talk in person, Mr. Adams. If you need a ride, I can send a car to pick you up.”
He said, “No, I can drive there myself. I should be there in about 20 minutes.”
I said, “Thank you, just ask for Detective Hemple at the front desk.”
I ended the call and turned to Elliot, “He’s said he’s on his way. He sounded concerned but not rattled.”
Elliot nodded, “So, he didn’t sound like he had anything to do with Cody’s disappearance.”
I shook my head, “No, but it’s hard to read people over the phone. I get a better feeling if I can talk to them face to face.”
He said, “Yeah, I understand that. Shall we get ready for our visitor?”
I nodded, “Yep, let’s use room 2.”
Elliot followed me down the hall to set up the room. Just like Rodge always did, we had one chair against the back wall, with two chairs on the other side of the table. We both grabbed our notebooks and I got three bottles of water, handing one to Elliot. A few minutes later, we were notified that Jared was waiting at the front desk. I went out to greet him and led him to the interview room and offered him a water.
He opened the bottle and said, “What questions do you have for me? Did something happen to Cody.”
We all sat down, I asked, “How do you know Cody Williams?”
He said, “We met in college. We lived in the same dorm and there was whole group of us that became friends.”
Elliot asked, “Before last night, when was the last time to saw each other?”
Jared said, “Two years ago, at our graduation. We emailed each other a few times, but we found jobs in different cities. I think it’s been over a year since we last talked.”
I asked, “How did you know Cody was in Miami?”
He answered, “I didn’t until Sunday night. He sent me a message on Facebook telling me he was here. I moved to Miami about 6 months ago for my job. He told me he was in town until Wednesday and asked if I wanted to meet for a drink to catch up.”
I wrote my notes and asked, “You agreed to meet him?”
Jared nodded, “Yes, he told me what hotel he was at, and we decided to meet in the bar.”
“What time did you meet?”
“7:00.”
Elliot asked, “How long did you stay at the bar?”
He said, “About two hours, I guess.”
I asked, “Did you leave to go home at that time.”
For the first time, Jared looked a bit uncomfortable. He said, “Well, not exactly.”
Elliot gave me a look then asked, “What does that mean?”
Jared sighed, “Cody asked me if I wanted to go to his room?”
I asked, “For what, to have another drink?”
He shook his head, “Not exactly.” He took a deep breath, “Detectives, I am gay. When Cody and I were in college, he was a little curious. I was only too happy to help him experiment; Cody is a good-looking guy. Honestly, I hoped something would happen between us. We messed around a few times in college, but Cody soon met Ella and we stopped. I started dating another guy, so we were both happy.”
Elliot asked, “So, it was Cody’s idea to go up to his room?”
Jared nodded, “Yes, I was happy to see him and catch up, but I sure as hell wasn’t going to turn down a chance to have a little fun with him again. He told me that he loves his wife, but that he might be a little bi.”
I asked, “Did you have sex?”
He said, “Yes, we did.”
I asked, “Did you use a condom?”
Jared said, “Yes, Cody wore one, I am mostly a bottom, so I…”
I nodded, “No need to explain.”
That explained the condom in the trash can, we’ll still have the lab confirm, just make sure there wasn’t a third person.
Elliot asked, “What time did you leave the room?”
Jared shrugged, “I guess it was about 11, I got back to my apartment at 11:30, it takes about half an hour to get there from downtown.”
I asked, “Was Cody alone in the hotel room when you left?”
He nodded, “Yes, he said he had a meeting the first thing in the morning and was going to go to bed.”
Elliot asked, “Did you see anyone in the hall or the elevator as you left.”
Jared said, “No, I didn’t see anyone in the lobby either.”
We asked a few more questions; I was convinced that Jared was telling the truth. Once he realized that we didn’t care about him being gay, he was no longer nervous. He just appeared to be concerned for his friend. We told him to stay in town until we concluded our investigation, we may need to call him with more questions. We had the lab swab the inside of his cheek so we could compare it to the DNA that we would find on the condom. He agreed without giving any resistance.
Jared asked, “Will you please keep me updated, Detective?”
I nodded, “Yes, once we find Cody, I will let you know.”
He sighed, “What do you think happened to him?”
I shrugged, “I don’t know, it’s too early to speculate. Thank you for coming in and answering our questions.”
Jared walked out of the room; Elliot and I went back out to our desks. He asked, “What do think?”
I said, “I didn’t see any red flags, I think he was telling the truth. We can’t eliminate him as a suspect just yet, but he’s not on the top of the list at this point.”
He nodded, “Yeah, I didn’t get any bad vibes either.”
I said, “Cody was still in his room at 11. The phone calls from Barlow and Cody’s office didn’t start until 8:30 this morning. I think we should call Jeff Taylor and tell him to narrow his search of the surveillance footage to between those times.”
Elliot nodded, “I agree.”
I called Jeff with the new timeline; he told me that he had called some of the staff that we wanted to talk to this afternoon. They would come in early for their interviews. It was after 2:00, so Elliot and I drove back to the hotel. Jeff had a small meeting room set for us to use; he had the members of the staff that were there waiting in another room.
The first person we talked to was Joe Girard, the bartender that was on duty last night.
I showed him the picture that Cody’s wife had emailed and asked, “Do you remember this man being in your bar last night?"
He nodded, “Sure, table 8, drinking Sam Adams. He had two beers.”
I was impressed with his memory. I asked, “Do you know what time he was in the bar?”
Joe said, “He came in a little before 7. Another guy joined him about ten minutes later, he was drinking Michelob Ultras, he also had two beers.”
Elliot asked, “Do you remember what time they left?”
He thought a moment, I guess it would have been around 9. I had Monday Night Football on the TV; they left when halftime started.”
I asked, “Did you notice anyone else acting strangely?”
Joe asked, “What do mean. There are all kinds of different people in a bar, what you or I think of as strange, they may think is perfectly normal.”
I chuckled, “Yeah, I guess you’re right. Was anyone listening to their conversation, or watching them?”
Elliot added, “Did anyone follow them when they left the bar?”
He shook his head, “No, everyone else in the bar stayed until the end of the game. It came down to a last second field goal.”
I asked, “Did you hear any of their conversation?”
He said, “Just as I took them their beers or when I delivered drinks to other tables near them. They only had two, they were kind of nursing their drinks, but we weren’t overly busy, so I didn’t care. Besides they left a good tip. From what I heard, it just sounded like a couple of old friends catching up. Nothing unusual, the first guy was talking about his wife the first time I walked by, and then they were talking about their jobs.”
We asked Joe a few more questions, so far everything that Jared told us has lined up. We let Joe get back to work; the day staff stayed late to let us interview the night staff. Jeff introduced us to Nick Houston next; he is the security guard that was on duty last night.
I began the questioning again, “Do you remember seeing this man in the bar or the hotel last night?" I showed him the picture of Cody Williams.
He shook his head, “No, I usually don’t go to the bar unless Joe calls me to say he is having a problem with one of our guests. I spend most of my time watching the TVs in the security office. I watch for strange activity in the halls and lobby, that sort of thing. Every hour and a half I make rounds to make sure all the side and back doors are secure. During the night, we only allow people to enter through the front doors.”
Elliot asked, “Did the cameras pick up any activity that was out of the ordinary?”
Nick shook his head, “No, nothing that I saw.”
I said, “So, you start at 3:00, what time does your shift end?”
He said, “11:00.”
Elliot and I exchanged looks as we asked him a few more questions. All the facts were still in sync with what we already knew. Marla Nelson, the front desk clerk was next to walk into the room. We started just as we done with the others, showing her a picture of Cody.
She said, “Sure, I remember him. He checked in a little after 4 on Sunday. I remember I commented on his wedding ring; it looked new. He told me he had only been married for a few months.”
I asked, “Did you see him last night?”
Marla nodded, “I saw him come into the hotel a little after 5. I assumed he was coming back after the meeting he had. He told me he was in town on business when he checked in. He was wearing a suit and had a briefcase. I saw him go into the bar later, just like a lot of our other guests.”
Elliot asked, “Do you remember what time that was?”
She said, “It was right after my dinner break, I go to break from 6:30 to 7:00.”
I asked, “Did you see this man come into the hotel?” I showed her a picture of Jared Adams.
She said, “Yes, I know I didn’t check him in, I assumed someone else might have or he might not have even been a guest. He went straight to the bar, which isn’t unusual. The bar is open to not only our guests, but also the general public.”
Marla told us she did not see him go with Cody to his room but did see him leave the hotel.
Elliot asked, “Do you remember what time he left?”
She nodded, “It was about 11, it was right at shift change. I was talking to Carl, the third shift clerk.”
Elliot and I exchanged looks again. We wrapped up our questions and let Marla go back to work. As we were waiting for the members of the cleaning crew to come in, Elliot and I compared notes.
I said, “I wasn’t thinking about a shift change right at the time Cody might have went missing.”
Elliot sighed, “I hadn’t thought of that either. I think we need to talk to the overnight crew too.”
I nodded, “Yes, we do.”
The first member of the cleaning crew walked in and for the next hour and half, we interviewed them. We learned nothing new; we didn’t expect them to add much. The overnight crew mostly work behind the scenes doing laundry and that sort of thing. They don’t usually have a reason to be out in the halls or the lobby.
After we finished talking to them, we went to the security office to talk to Jeff.
He said, “I found the footage of Cody leaving his room at 7, then he and the other man returning to his room at 9. That man leaves at a little before 11, just like you said.”
I sighed, “Everyone is telling us the same thing. We need to see the footage after 11. I think Cody was fine when Jared left. We also need to talk to your overnight crew.”
Jeff said, “I can have them stay at the end of their shift in the morning. If you can be here at 7, I’ll have the same room set up for you.”
I nodded, “I would appreciate that, and we’ll be here before 7.”
Elliot and I returned to the station and I updated the Captain. Jeff had emailed the security camera footage and Elliot immediately started to review it. After I filled the Captain in on what we learned today, I joined Elliot in watching the footage, nothing strange was jumping out at us.
It was after 8:00 and we decided to hit it hard again the morning, starting with the second round of interviews at the hotel. I sent a text to Andy to let him know that I was on the way home. He replied that he would have dinner and a gin and tonic waiting for me.
I was greeted with a kiss and fresh drink as I walked in the door of our apartment.
He said, “Did you make any progress on your case?”
I sighed, “We got a lot of initial interviews done, but no real leads yet.”
Andy didn’t ask a lot of detailed questions, he knew I couldn’t say too much about the case. I was just able to tell him that we had a missing man from out of town.
I said, “We have a few more witnesses to talk to in the morning.”
He smiled, “You’ll figure it out, I know you will.”
I gave him a kiss, “Thanks babe, I’m just trying to do what I think Ridge would do.”
He asked, “Are you working alone? I know Ridge and Blake are both out this week.”
I shook my head, “No, Adkins is helping me.”
Andy asked, “Do I know him?”
I said, “No, he has only been on the department for a few months.”
He asked, "Is he a new officer?"
I said, “No, he transferred from another department, he’s been a detective for about as long as I have.”
Andy and I sat down and ate the dinner that he had prepared, he told me about his day with the visiting lab techs. Since Lucas was gone, he was responsible for showing them the new technique they were in town to see. They would be leaving on Friday. He reminded me that he had to entertain them on Thursday, so he would be home late that night.
I chuckled, “I remember, I will probably be working late too if I don’t get this case solved by then. I hope Ridge is enjoying his vacation and Blake is getting adjusted to the new baby. I don’t want to let them down.”
As we crawled into bed, Andy said, “I’m sure you won’t.”
Ridge
Lucas and I were enjoying our cruise with his family. Today the ship was in port, and we were able go ashore. While Lucas’s family is great, we spent the last four days together and were all ready for a little time apart. We each had our own cabins, but the rest of time we were doing things together. We all decided to do our own thing while we were on shore. Heather, Joe, their boys, Nate and Jake, were going to spend the day on the beach. This port had a family friendly area with kids activities.
Larry and Jane joined a tour group to see the island. Lucas and I were going to check out the local shops and then spend some time on the adult side of the beach. We had to be back on the ship by 5:00, we were all meeting up for dinner after we returned to the ship. Tonight was the special Anniversary Dinner that the ship was giving us for Larry and Jane. Well, they weren’t exactly giving us the dinner, I’m sure Larry was paying for it. The ship did give us a free bottle of Champagne and a cake for desert and the captain stopped by to offer his congratulations.
While we were eating, Nate and Jake told us about all the fun they had on the beach. Larry and Jane also said that they enjoyed the tour of the island. Lucas and I just smiled as we listened to their adventures.
After dinner, Larry and Jane went up to the upper deck for some fresh air before they returned to their cabin for the night. The boys were worn out from their busy day, so Heather and Joe left to put them to bed. Lucas and I stopped by one of the many bars on board for a rum and Coke before we went to bed.
We returned to our cabin and got undressed for bed. We were standing there in our underwear after we hung our suits up. Lucas looked at me and grinned, “God, you are so sexy.”
I chuckled, “Not as sexy as you are.”
We didn’t need to say anything else; we stepped out of our underwear and fell onto the bed. Our tongues and hard cocks were soon tangled together as we started to roll around on the bed. It was a dance we had done countless times over the last decade plus a few years. Just seeing Lucas naked with that cute smile never fails to get my motor running.
Lucas was on top of me while I lay on my back as we continued to kiss. He broke our kiss and started to kiss his way down my body. I let out a sigh as he took my manhood down his throat. He put his expert oral skills to work, and I held onto the back of head. A few minutes later, I had to pull him up before he sent me over the edge.
I flipped Lucas onto his back and gave him the same treatment that he had given me. I savored every drop of his delicious precum, damn, he tasted so good. As I sucked his love stick, I fondled his nuts and worked a finger into his warm moist pucker. Lucas groaned and spread his legs further. I released his cock from my mouth to lick and suck his cum-filled nuts, I worked a second finger into his hole. Another groan from Lucas told me that he approved.
A load pop filled the room as I pulled off his nuts and went down to replace my fingers, that were tickling his velvety smooth love tunnel, with my tongue. Lucas pulled his legs up, almost bending himself in half as I rimmed him. His head was writhing back and forth and more precum flowed from his rock-hard cock, pooling on his stomach.
He panted, “I really want your cock inside of me.”
I gave his hole one last lick and grinned, “Do you?”
He franticly nodded, “Yes, please.”
I would never want to disappoint my man; I gave him a kiss as I aimed my rod at its target. We continued to kiss as my cock disappeared inside Lucas. He grabbed my ass as I began to piston in and out, pulling me in farther and faster. He was really horny tonight, and I was happy to help him with that little problem.
It didn’t take long for our breathing to become ragged, I knew we were both close to the brink of orgasm. Lucas pulled me in one last time as I felt his seed coating our stomachs. The feel of his ass muscles clamping on my cock, sent me over the edge. I filled his guts with my love juices. We kissed until my deflating cock slipped form his cum slicked hole. I rolled to his side as we wrapped our arms around each other.
Lucas smiled, “I was going to ask if you wanted to fool around a little before we went to bed, but I think I’m a bit tired now.”
I chuckled, “Yeah, I’m kind of tired too, maybe tomorrow night.”
He kissed my cheek, “I’m glad we came on this little vacation.”
I sighed, “Yes, me too. I just hope Blake and Ollie are doing okay and a big case doesn’t pop up.”
He asked, “Don’t you think they could handle it?”
I said, “I know they can, but I still can’t help but worry a little bit. What if Hannah had the baby? That would leave Ollie all by himself.”
Lucas asked, “Wouldn’t there be anyone else to help him if a case came up?”
I said, “I think the Captain would have the new guy, Elliot, help him. We had already been talking about bringing him onto our team. He seems like a decent detective, and I think him and Ollie would get along well.”
Lucas smiled, “See, you have nothing to worry about. Everything is just fine.”
