Cody Williams
Cody is 24 years old and is flying to Miami for a business trip. He stands 5’10” and weighs about 160 pounds, with a muscular build. He’s not a gym rat, but he does look good shirtless. His blonde hair frames his well-proportioned face and makes his blue eyes pop. He has worked for his company for the last 2 years; he got the job after he graduated from college. He has meetings with a new client on Monday and Tuesday and is scheduled to return to Atlanta on Wednesday. His company has booked a room for him at the Elser Hotel in downtown Miami. It is only three blocks from his client’s office so he will have no need for a rental car, the hotel has a shuttle to and from the airport.
Cody has been married to his wife, Ella, for three months, they dated the last two years of college. Before he met Ella, Cody had experimented with a couple of guys sexually, he considers himself bi. He has always been attracted to women, but when he was approached by his gay friend, Jared, in college, he gave in and enjoyed the experience. He continued his exploration with a couple of more guys, but that all ended when he met Ella.
After graduation, he landed his dream job and moved to Atlanta, Ella followed him there and also found a job she liked. They moved in together and were soon engaged to be married. Now they are starting to save for a house and then planning on starting a family. You know, just living the American dream.
Cody kissed Ella goodbye as she dropped him off at the Atlanta airport and a couple of hours later he was being picked up by The Elser Hotel shuttle bus from the Miami airport. He set his bag down in front of the front desk at the hotel and was greeted with a smile by a nice woman. He looked at her name tag.
She smiled, “Good afternoon sir, are you checking in today?”
He returned her smile, “Yes, Marla. The reservation should be under the name of Cody Williams.”
She typed away at her keyboard, “Yes, here it is, it looks like you are with us until Wednesday.”
He nodded, “That’s correct.” He handed her his company credit card.
Marla said, “Oh, I love that wedding ring. It looks new.”
Cody grinned, “It’s just three months old, thank you.”
She smiled, “Will Mrs. Williams be joining you?”
He shook his head, “No, this is a business trip. It’s the first time we have been apart since the wedding.”
Marla finished checking Cody in and handed him his key card. She said, “You are in room 812. Enjoy your stay and if you need anything, please just let me know.”
Cody put his card back in his wallet and picked up his bag, he said, “Thank you.”
He rode the elevator to the eighth floor and found his room. As he set his bag on the end of the bed, he checked the rest of the room out. Relieved that his company chose a nice hotel. He pulled the curtains back to reveal a nice view of the city and as he hung up his clothes he found a clean bathroom with a large shower.
Once he was unpacked he pulled out his phone and called Ella, just to let her know that he arrived safely and was checked into his room. He planned to get a bite to eat in the restaurant in the hotel and then go over his notes for the meetings he was having over the next couple of days.
After he ate his dinner, Cody returned to his room at about 8:00. He reviewed his notes to prepare for the week ahead and closed his laptop to get ready for bed. He stripped down to his boxer-briefs and turned the TV on. He grabbed his phone and crawled under the covers. He opened his Facebook app and started to scroll. A new post from his old college friend, Jared, caught his eye.
He looked at a few of Jared’s posts and discovered that Jared now lived in Miami. He hadn’t seen Jared since graduation and thought it would be nice to catch up with him. He had two nights in town to kill so he sent him a message. He could see that Jared wasn’t online, so he put his phone down to watch TV. At 10:00 he turned the TV off; he wanted to be rested for Monday morning. He checked his phone one last time and Jared had still not responded to his message, so he shut the lights out and went to sleep.
Cody went to his client’s office the next morning and started his meetings. The client was pleased with his work and meeting was going well. During the break for lunch, Cody’s curiosity got the better of him, and he checked Facebook to see if Jared read his message. Jared had responded, “It would be great to see you again.” He gave Cody his phone number. Cody smiled, he would text him after he was done for the day.
When Cody got back to his room after he had finished for the day, he called his boss to update him on the day’s progress. His boss told him to keep up the good work and to call him again tomorrow; he could give his full report when he got home on Wednesday. He called Ella to tell her about his day and that he was planning an evening just like the day before. He didn’t mention Jared, after all, he was just planning on asking Jared to meet him for a drink so they could catch up.
After his call with Ella, he sent Jared a text. “Staying at the Elser, if you want to meet for a drink, let me know.”
Almost immediately, Jared sent a text, “Would love to catch up. Is 7:00 okay?”
Cody replied with, “Works for me, see you then.”
Cody took a quick shower and changed into casual clothes; he’d been wearing a suit all day. A little before 7, he walked down to the hotel bar, sat at a table and ordered a beer. As soon as the server delivered his beer, Jared walked in and joined him. After a bro-hug they sat down and Jared ordered his drink. They quickly began to catch up on the last few years; Jared’s job had recently transferred him to Miami.
After they talked about their jobs, Cody told him the he and Ella had gotten married and why he was visiting Miami. Before long, two hours had passed. Cody had not planned on it, but after a few beers, he invited Jared up to his room. Jared has only gotten better looking since Cody last saw him. He is about the same height and weight as Cody, but his black hair, dark complexion and brown eyes are in complete contrast to Cody.
Seeing Jared stirred feelings in Cody that he had not had since he met Ella. As soon as they stepped inside the room, Cody wrapped his arms around Jared and pulled him in for passionate kiss.
Jared broke the kiss and took a deep breath, “You know I didn’t expect anything when I agreed to meet you for a drink. I was just happy to catch up and see you again.”
Cody nodded, “I know, I really didn’t plan on anything more either, but seeing you brought back some good memories. If you don’t want to do anything else, I understand.”
Jared said, “I won’t lie and say that the thought didn’t cross my mind when I saw you. Are you sure you want to do this?”
Cody swallowed hard, “Yes, I’m sure.”
They kissed again as they began to pull each other’s clothes off. Cody inhaled Jared’s scent, it was just as intoxicating as it was back in college. They pressed their bare chests together, the heat was so intense, Cody had forgotten how good the skin-to-skin contact felt with another man. Not that it wasn’t enjoyable with Ella, she was soft and smooth, and he liked the feel of her pert boobs felt against his chest. But Jared’s muscles were firm and hard, also covered in soft skin, and was just as enjoyable. The light coat of chest hair was also a different sensation.
They unbuttoned each other’s jeans and let them fall to the floor, their underwear soon followed. They fell onto the bed still kissing, their now hard cocks were smearing precum all over their stomachs. Jared rolled Cody onto his back and started to kiss his neck, then continued down Cody’s chest. Cody shivered each time Jared’s lips touched his body.
Cody groaned and gripped the sheets when Jared wrapped his lips around his cock. God, Jared knew how to suck a cock. Cody loves Ella and she really tries, but only another man knows what feels good. Cody pushed the thoughts of Ella out of his head and just enjoyed Jared’s oral skills. He reached down to pull Jared up; it was time to return the favor.
They shared another quick kiss and Jared moved around so they could service each other at the same time. It had been nearly five years since he had sucked a cock, but he soon found his groove again. The moans coming from Jared only encouraged Cody, he began to fondle Jared’s nuts as he continued to suck. His finger soon moved down to rub across Jared’s warm pucker. Jared spread his legs as a hint for Cody to explore further.
Cody spit on his finger and returned to Jared’s hole, pushing in to the first knuckle. Jared flexed his ass muscles and Cody’s finger sank the rest of the way in. Cody soon added a second finger and Jared spit Cody’s cock from his mouth and panted, “Will you fuck me?”
They quickly moved into position, Jared on his back with his legs in the air. Cody slowly pushed in and was soon balls deep, hitting Jared’s sweet spot. Cody leaned down to kiss Jared as he continued to pound his hole. Jared was so tight, Cody knew he wasn’t going to last long. Jared wasn’t going to last much longer either.
They both breathed into the other’s mouth, “I’m going to shoot.” And they did. Cody didn’t think he was ever going to stop cuming. Jared also pumped out a huge load between the two taut stomachs, he hadn’t even touched his cock. They fell into a heap as they tried to catch their breath.
Jared sighed, “Wow, I’m glad you messaged me, I haven’t been fucked like that in a long time.”
Cody’s faced heated up in embarrassment, “Sorry if I was a little rough, but I feel like I have to be so gentle with Ella…”
Jared laughed, “No need to apologize, I loved every minute of it.”
They talked for a few more minutes and then shared a shower. Jared dressed and gave Cody a final kiss as he left to go home. Cody enjoyed his time with Jared but wasn’t sure how he felt about it now that he was married. Should he tell Ella what happened? He had told her that he experimented in college, and she even seemed a little turned on by it. Maybe he should talk to her about occasionally including a third person in their love making. Cody decided he would think it over and if the opportunity came up, he would talk to her about it.
It was a little after 11:00, Cody decided to go to bed. Just as he was getting ready to crawl under the covers, there was a knock on the door. He wondered if Jared forgot something, he scanned the room but didn’t see anything.
He opened the door and was immediately met with a huge fist finding his face. He stumbled back and fell to the floor. He saw the hand holding a small club coming at him a second time and everything went black.
Ollie
When the Captain told me we had a missing person, I immediately panicked. Ridge was on a cruise and Blake was spending the week with Hannah and their new son. They had another boy by the way; the baby and Hannah were doing well. Did he expect me to work the case by myself?
Captain said, “Cody Williams, 24, from Atlanta. He is in Miami for some business meetings. He arrived on Sunday, checked into the Elser Hotel and was at his meetings on Monday. He called his wife and boss after he returned to the hotel, and no one has heard from him since. When he didn’t show up this morning for his meeting, the people he was supposed to meet with called his home office. They called the hotel and had them check his room. All of his clothes and belongings were still in the room.”
I was writing everything the Captain was telling me down, just like Ridge had taught me. I asked, “So where do you want me to start?”
Captain smiled, “You know what you need to do. I have watched you and Blake work the last couple of years. Either one of you can handle this investigation, Ridge has taught you well.”
I swallowed hard, “Yeah, but I have never worked by myself…”
He said, “The other two missing persons teams are already working on other cases. I don’t expect you to do it all on your own, go get Adkins, he is between cases right now. He can help you.”
Elliot Adkins joined the department about six months ago when he moved here from Tampa Bay. He is maybe a year or two older than I am and seems like a decent cop. I have not directly worked with him, but we have talked several times. He has even asked Ridge for some advice on the last case he was working. He had kind of been bouncing between burglary and missing person cases, wherever he was needed.
He stood about 5’10 with a slim build. He had sandy blond hair and hazel eyes; he was a nice-looking guy. I have no idea if he is married or seeing anyone, not that that mattered, I wasn’t looking for anyone anyway. I had already found the man of my dreams, and we were now wearing matching wedding bands. I rolled my ring around my finger as I walked to Elliot’s desk.
I smiled as I reached his desk, he returned my smile, “Hey Ollie, how are you today?”
I said, “Doing good, Elliot. The Captain said you are between cases; He just gave me a new one and said you could help me.”
He jumped to his feet, “Hell yeah. Anything to get me away from this damn paperwork.”
I chuckled, “Come on, we’re going to start at the Elser Hotel, the forensic team is already there.”
I filled him in on the rest of the information that Captain had given me as we walked to the car.
As we got into the car and started our drive to the hotel, he asked, “Are Ridge and Blake off today?”
I nodded, “They are gone all week, Ridge is on vacation and Blake just had a baby.. He’s helping his wife for a few days.”
Elliot said, “So, it’s just us then?”
I sighed, “Yep, the first case I have worked without Ridge, I hope I’m able to handle it.”
He said, “I’m sure you’ll do fine and I’ll do whatever I can to help.” He paused for moment, then asked, “What is it like working with Ridge?”
I smiled, “It’s great, he has really taught me a lot. I know a lot of the newer guys are intimidated by him, but he is a big old teddy bear under that gruff exterior.”
He raised an eyebrow, “Really?”
I said, “Yes, he is just very passionate about his work. The only he things that is more important to him is his husband, Lucas.”
Elliot’s eyes went wide, “Ridge has a husband?”
I nodded, “Yes, he and Lucas have been together for more than twelve years. Lucas is a great guy, and he is the one that introduced me to my husband, Andy.”
I could see Elliot thinking about what I just told him, he asked, “You have a husband too?”
I chuckled, “Yes, but Andy and I have only been married a few weeks, but we have been together for about three years.”
He sat silently for a few minutes, I asked, “What about you? Are you married or in a relationship?”
He shook his head, “No, not since I moved to Miami. I was in a relationship for short time when I was in Tampa Bay. When that ended, I guess I needed a fresh start, that’s why I moved here.”
Before we could talk too much more, we arrived at the hotel. A hotel security officer escorted us to room 812 after we showed him our badges. Elliot and I stepped under the police tape and entered the room, the security officer waited in the hall. We were greeted by Zach Baker, the forensic team leader.
Elliot and I pulled on gloves before we touched anything. I asked, “What have you got so far, Zach?”
He turned to me, “Hey Ollie. Where are Ridge and Blake?”
I smiled, “They’re off for the week. Have you found anything?”
He nodded, “We have the victim’s cell phone.” He handed me the evidence bag containing the phone. He continued, “We found a used condom in the trash can, we will compare the contents to the toothbrush we found in the bathroom to see if was used by our victim. It looks like he just walked away. The suitcase contains the right amount of clothes for a man that was planning on staying town for three days. There are two pairs of shoes, one to go with the suits, and one casual pair to wear with the jeans we found. He either left in his underwear or was taken. I’ll let you figure that out. The bedspread is also missing, maybe it was used to cover him if was carried out of the hotel.”
I sighed, “So he had company last night? Did you find anything that might belong to his guest?”
Zach shook his head, “Nope, everything in the room belongs to our victim or the hotel. It doesn’t look like they ate or drank anything in the room. We are dusting for prints, just in case. But in a hotel, we are likely to get a bunch of different prints. The staff rarely wipes every surface down between guests.”
I nodded, “Did you try the phone?”
He tapped the screen through the bag and said, “Yep, you’re in luck, it’s not password protected.”
Elliot and I immediately went to the recent calls. There were several from numbers in his contact list. Some were from his boss, others from his wife and a couple from a local area code. I assumed those were from Barlow Enterprises, the company that Cody was meeting with, we would confirm that once we got back to the station. I read the numbers off as Elliot wrote them down. The rest were from before he arrived in Miami.
We next checked his text messages. Again, several from the boss, wife and the same local number that the phone calls came from. The texts that caught my eye were from a number that was not in his contacts. It appeared that he was making plans to meet someone in the hotel bar. We also wrote that number down, we would try to find the owner of that number after we returned to the station. We scanned the room for anything else that seemed out of place. We decided to let the forensic team do their job.
Elliot and I stepped under the tape out into the hall. He asked, “What do you think?”
I shrugged, “We need to talk to whoever he met with last night. Right now, we should go down to the bar and see if anyone remembers seeing Cody last night.”
Elliot nodded, “I agree, We should also talk to anyone else on the hotel staff that might have interacted with Cody.”
We turned to get back on the elevator, “Yep, I’m willing to bet we will have to come back later though. I’m sure the day shift didn’t see anything, we will need to talk to the night crew.”
When we got to the main floor, we went to the security office, Jeff Taylor, led us to his office. He was in charge of security for the hotel; he was reviewing the security footage from the previous night.
After I introduced Elliot and myself, he said, “I have been reviewing footage for that last hour, so far I have found nothing unusual, Detective.”
I sighed, “Okay, can you give me a list of employees that may have interacted with Cody last night?”
He nodded as he handed me a sheet of paper, “Already have it for you. Joe the bartender is on the top of the list, and Marla the front desk clerk may have seen him too. I also included members of the night cleaning staff and night security guard, Nick Houston.”
I asked, “Are any of these employees working now?”
He shook his head, “Sorry, no. Their shift starts at 3, they are all on the schedule to work today. If you want to talk to them sooner, I can call them in.”
I looked at Elliot, he shrugged. I said, “No, we can come back at 3. Can you provide us with someplace to talk to them?”
Jeff nodded, “Of course, anything you need. We have never had anything like this happen before. We will cooperate any way we can.”
Elliot asked, “Could you email us that surveillance footage?”
Jeff said, “Absolutely, like I said, anything to help.”
I turned to Elliot, “I think we need to go to have a talk with the folks at Barlow Enterprises. Then we can come back here later this afternoon.”
Elliot nodded, “Sounds good to me.”
Jeff said, “I’ll have a room ready for you to talk to everyone here. I’ll get you a copy of this footage and I’ll keep looking at it too. If I see anything, I will give you call right away.”
I gave him my card and thanked him for his help as we left his office. We walked the three blocks to Barlow Enterprises. That was the company that Cody had met with yesterday and who he was supposed to spend today with. They were first to alert us that Cody was missing.
We showed our badges to the receptionist as we walked through the front door. She asked, “Is this about Cody Williams?”
I nodded, “Yes ma’am, can we talk to whoever Cody was meeting with?”
She nodded as she picked up her phone, “Yes, Matt has been expecting you. I’ll let him know you are here.”
As soon as she hung up the phone, a man appeared in the hall and introduced himself as Matt Morgan. He said, “Please, follow me. We can talk in the conference room.”
I asked, “What can you tell me about your meeting with Cody yesterday?”
He sighed, “Not much. We are looking to hire his company to do some consulting work. I was very impressed with Cody and what his company has to offer. I was planning on signing the contract before he left tomorrow to return to Atlanta.”
Elliot asked, “Did he seem nervous or anxious about anything?”
Jeff shook his head, “No, not at all. He was very professional; he was calm and gave his presentation perfectly. Like I said, I was very impressed.”
We asked a few more questions, Matt was clearly upset and I was sure he had nothing to do with Cody’s disappearance.
He sighed, “I wish I could be of more help. I really should have gone out to dinner with him last night, but my wife’s parents decided at the last minute to pay us a visit. You know, happy wife, happy life.”
I chuckled, no, I did not know that, but I knew what he meant. I thanked him as we walked out to the reception area. I checked the time and turned to Elliot, “We have a few hours before we need to be back at the hotel, I think we should see if we can find out who Cody sent those texts to last night.”
He nodded, “Yep, he certainly seems like a person of interest at this point.”
We got back to the station, and I quickly updated the Captain on what we knew so far.
He nodded and said, “See, I told you, you knew what to do. You’ve done exactly what I or Ridge would have done. Good work, Ollie. Keep me posted.”
I smiled, “Thanks Captain.”
He asked, “How is Adkins doing, is he going to be of any help?”
I said, “Yeah, he’s doing well. It helps to have someone else around to ask the questions that I forget.”
Captain smiled, “Good, let me know if you find anything else. By the way, I called Mrs. Williams to tell her we are doing everything possible to find Cody. I told her you would call her with any news.”
He handed me a slip of paper with her phone number. I nodded, “I’ll call her at the end of the day, just like Ridge always does.”
Captain winked, “I would expect nothing less, Ridge has taught you well.”
I walked out to Elliot’s desk; he was already tracking down the mystery phone number from Cody’s texts. Elliot was turning out to be very helpful.
I stood behind him, “Well?”
He pointed to his screen, “The number belongs to Jared Adams.”
