It seems like storm clouds are gathering around our friend Smug Stanley. Is he a murderer or a a distraction? Who knows? Law has decided to keep an eye on Stan. That task may prove difficult. Let's see how they manage. ENJOY!
Well, now we know that Ted couldn't have gone off with Karloff on February 6th, because he was dead on January 20th. What's it mean? It means Stan lied. Why did he lie? I suspect Law is going to try to find out. When we left him, he was chatting with Smokey. Let's see what they're chatting about.
Karloff is dead. I mean, WTF, right? What do you think happened to him? More importantly, when did it happen? Let's find out.
BTW, for those of you who are regular commenters, THANKS! Your words always give me a boost. For the rest of you, drop me a few words now and then, please. Share your thoughts.
Tea or Coffee? What brand? I drink Lacas tea and light roast specialty coffee. I'm a coffee snob. Are you?
As for the chapter, we finally arrive at the races. Are you eager to breathe the exhaust and the roasting rubber? Let's go racing!!
"Gee, Brain, what are we going to do tonight?"
"The same thing we do every night, Pinky, try to solve a murder!"
Yeah, I know that's not the line. Forgive me for taking creative license or whatever. Tonight we're going racing, but we may need to make a quick detour along the way. Wait until you see what happens while were detoured. ENJOY!
Nap time!! Are you tired? David and Law are. They both had difficult nights. I hope they can get some rest. The real question is, will they get it separately or together? You'll have to read to find out. ENJOY!
Welcome back! This is a short chapter, but it introduces some new characters which we may or may not see later on. In the last chapter, we met an asshole. In this one, we'll meet some good guys. Who are they and how do they fit into the story? You'll have to read to find out. ENJOY!!
I ALMOST FORGOT! I almost forgot to post tonight. The edible I took when I got home from work might have had something to do with that. Anyway...I HOPE YOU ENJOY!
What song stops you in your tracks? What tune will make you ignore everything else and listen until it's over. What is the most meaningful music you've ever heard in your whole life? For me, it's 'A Day in the Life' by The Beatles.
What does this have to do with the story? Not a thing. It was just on my mind. ENJOY!
Another day, another chapter. How did you like yesterday's installment? David is a sweetheart, isn't he? Law found a letter and a quarter. What do you suppose they mean? You'll have to read to find out. ENJOY!!
Happy Sunday! In this chapter, our intrepid duo seek out the rooming house where Larry & Ted lived. I wonder what they'll find there. I wonder what 'intrepid' means. I lifted the phrase from the old Batman series. I couldn't have called Law and David 'caped crusaders' because they're not wearing capes. Ahem...never mind. On with the chapter!
Well, Law and David are off to investigate. Law his hungover and miserable. David finally looks like a modern man. Where are they headed and what will they find there? We'll have to read to find out. ENJOY!
"It's a damn shame you can't pick your family."
My father says that. Usually he says it at dinner, when the whole family is there. I think he's kidding.
Anyway, families can be tough. Let's see how Law deals with his.
Hello! I appreciate the thoughtful reactions and comments on the last chapter. That one was rough. I hate it when Walt and Law fight. Hopefully their argument will be settled in time. We'll just have to see. ENjoy!
In today's chapter, Law goes to see how Walt managed during their day apart. How do you think Walt's day went? I suppose you'll have to read to find out. ENJOY!!
Hello there! I've got a short one for you today. Don't laugh! My boyfriend tells me that size doesn't matter. ;-)
Hope you enjoy it. Stay tuned for a juicy one tomorrow!
Seems the universal opinion of Smug Stanley is a poor one. I couldn't agree more. I like Hank Kellerman, though. He seems like a solid guy. It's nice that Law has a path forward. Off to the races to find Mel. In the mean time...
Welcome back for some more story. In this chapter, we meet Stan. What do you think he'll be like? Kellerman says he's a smug so and so. I wonder what else he could be. Do you think he could be a murderer? Let's see what Law thinks.
MERRY NEW YEAR!! Extra points if you can tell me what movie that saying is from.
Welcome to H&H Auto Repair. I wonder what David and Law will discover there. Maybe they'll get an oil change...or a lube job. If this story was a little different, the lube job would have been definite. Maybe we'll do a story like that next. For now, enjoy!
Dear reader, it almost happened. I almost reneged on my promise to post a chapter per day for a week. Luckily, I remembered just before i went to bed. I've stayed up a very short while past my bedtime to post this chapter. I hope you enjoy it!!
Welcome to Chapter 6. We're about to meet David's son. What do you think he'll be like? Do you think Law will believe he's innocent of Ted's murder? Do you think he's innocent?
I suppose we'll have to read to find out. Enjoy!
Another day and another chapter! Have you ever run into someone you haven't seen in years and years? Were they happy to see you? Were you happy to see them? This chapter's title is 'The Surprise of a Familiar Face.' I wonder who our team runs into. We'll have to read to find out. ENJOY!!
This morning I received an email from story contributor and beta reader Bill C. He said, "if it's done, let's have it, please." As he usually is, Bill is right, and he said 'please.' Therefore, I'm going to post daily for a while, then every other day until the end. I hope this will make the audience happy and garner some additional readers.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!! How has your holiday season been? Have you enjoyed it, or has it been a fucking nightmare? Either way, I get it.
Welcome to another chapter in the story. In this chapter, Law learns more about David's son. David also learns a bit about Law's situation. Let's have a look.
Welcome to chapter two! Happy to have you here. Looks like David is back out of the past. I wonder what he's doing in Philly. Let's find out. THANKS FOR READING!!
NEW STORY!! Welcome back everyone! It's been a little over a year since I posted and I'm so happy to be back with you. This story is a sequel to the first Law Edwards mystery, Wasted Life. If you haven't read that one, I would suggest you start there. Enjoy the story!!
This isn't a story chapter, as the story is over. This is the epilogue I mentioned when I posted the last chapter. Thanks for sharing your time with me!
Last Chapter dear reader. Thanks for still being here. There will be an epilogue sometime next week. No deep revelations, just some thoughts on the story and maybe some plans for the future.
Thank you so very much for reading. A special shout-out and thank you to Geoff, Jim, and Lee for being regular commenters. Your kind words reassured me and lifted my spirits after every posting.
Well, seems like the mystery is solved. What did you think of the solution? Seems like all that's left is some paperwork. Welcome to the next to the last chapter. I hope you enjoy it.
THANKS FOR READING!
In this chapter, we get to the climax, but not to the resolution of the story. This is the first of the three remaining chapters. In the comments for the last chapter, Geoff Fox suggested that the dog ate a piece of the jig saw puzzle that makes up this story. I suspect he was being silly, but he got closer to the truth than he realized. You'll have to read to see how close.
THANKS FOR READING!!
Well, I was planning to let a day go by before I posted more chapters, but the enthusiastic comments of Geoff, Jim and Lee have motivated me to forgo the blank day. In this chapter, Law goes over everything again. He doesn't find anything new, but he does get some help from an unexpected place.
THANKS FOR READING!!
In this chapter, Law and Walt share a special moment that Walt's says won't mean anything. Do you think it will mean something? Have a look and see.
THANKS FOR READING!
In this chapter, Law heads into the queer underworld of Philadelphia to try to trace Preston's activities. As he tours one seedy hangout after another, he starts to doubt. He also runs into a face from his past, one he never expected to see again.
THANKS FOR READING!!
In this chapter Law and Bea return to a clue they've had since the beginning, but only now seems significant. What do you suppose it is? You're right, it's the key. What do you think it fits? You'll have to read to see if they figure it out.
THANKS FOR READING!!
