Beef, It’s What’s for Dinner
It was just about five. Ancil put the cocktails out and went to get some linen napkins from the butler’s pantry downstairs. I was setting the table even though Ancil said I was doing his job. Church made the bed and opened the balcony doors to air the room and let the nice day all the way into the suite.
My mind was on Primis and Joe and their relationship dilemma. I kept coming back to the idea that Joe would be able to embrace an exclusive relationship with my brother if only he could get over his fear of admitting that he was gay. I didn’t know if there was any way to help them along. I couldn’t come out and ask Joe because that would betray the confidence Primis entrusted to me. I wondered if there was anything subtle I could do.
I was so distracted by my ponderings that I dropped a fork under the table. I bent down to retrieve it and felt a sharp spike of lust from Church as I did. I stood and turned to see that he was admiring my butt as I was bent over. The answer came to me as if it was a stroke of divine inspiration. I couldn’t do anything to bring our brothers together, but Church could.
“Are you horny?”
“Are you kidding? Of course, I am. You’re gorgeous and nearly naked. Yes, Shawn, I am horny. Why?”
“I think we can help Joe and Primis with your magic. My brother said that he’s never had sex with just him and Joe. Maybe if they finally were together as a couple, Joe could get over his fear. Let’s give them a great evening, serve them some drinks to loosen up, and add a touch of your magic to focus their thoughts on how much they want each other. Will you do it? I think if you turn your output up just a little, it will push them over the edge.”
He agreed to my scheme. I felt a shift in the atmosphere of the room as he ramped up his magic production. My body tingled and my mind flitted to thoughts of the sex I planned to have later. A mere second later, my imagination started to choreograph the session. I held my hand up as a warning. “That’s too much. Try a little less.” He dialed back the magic and my imagination stopped creating provocative images. I was still hornier than I had been, but it was a gentle horniness as opposed to an urgent one. “That’s perfect.”
Ancil came back with the napkins and added them to the table. A moment later, there was a knock at the door. Ancil moved to answer it, but I stopped him and told Church to get it. He asked why it mattered. “I want them to see the new you.”
He laughed and shook his head and went to open the door. Church welcomed our brothers and closed the door behind them. Both Joe and Primis remained immediately inside to stare at him. I hurried to his side to suggest the pair come all the way in, but all I managed to do was divide their attention and keep them rooted in place. Joe rubbed the back of his neck with the heel of his left hand. The gesture seemed to run in the Philips line. Church used it regularly and I’d seen Joe’s son Andy use it whenever he was uncomfortable. Both Han and Lee used it as well.
Joe nodded between Church and me but his eyes came to rest only on me. There was a hunger in his gaze that I didn’t expect. “You both seem to have changed since I saw you last.”
Primis agreed. “I’ll say. Wow!”
I explained my physical changes. “I took some time off from my practice to spend with Church. He and I have been working out together.”
While Joe’s eyes remained locked to me, Primis shifted his gaze to Church. “What about the hair? I don’t remember that.”
Church scrubbed his hand up and down his furry belly. “Shawn did this right before I went to Vitrum to pave the way for our twins to move down there. He wanted to protect me from the cold.”
Primis pointed to the open balcony doors behind us. “It’s not cold here.”
Church grinned. “He found out he likes to have a bear in his bed, so I decided to stay this way.” He clapped his hands to unstick us from the spot near the door. “Come in. We’ve got drinks and a nice evening planned. Have a cocktail and tell us about yourselves. Shawn and I have been homebodies for almost a year. You two must have been all over. Catch us up.”
* * * *
We drank and talked for well over an hour before anyone mentioned food. The conversation was lively and engaging. Joe did much of the talking and Primis filled in detail. They told about all manner of places they’d been and people they met. Joe also spoke about some concept art he’d done for a new fashion collection that Andy was working on. The concept was called ‘Grand Architecture of the Post Pravus Period.’
After the last monarch of Solum, King Pravus, was deposed and exiled, architecture reached an experimental phase when all kinds of new things were tried. Joe had gone on tour to paint impressions of some of the more successful buildings which remained from that time. Andy was studying Joe’s art to see if the colors would lend themselves to a full clothing collection or if they would be limited to a feature within a different, more far-reaching collection. Either way, the release was still more than a year off. Andy had several concepts he needed to work through, plus the collections for the next season were already in production.
Joe spoke generously about Primis’ contributions to his work. “He’s got a mental palette that even I can’t match. I can’t persuade him to take up the brush, but he can blend colors and visualize their voice like no artist I’ve ever met. Without Preem and his genius, I wouldn’t be half the artist I am.”
I was incredibly pleased to hear the way he spoke about my brother. He hardly mentioned Dignissium at all. If he did, it was only to explain how the three of them came to be in a given part of the world. His every word was spoken in celebration of his relationship with my brother. I hoped Primis could parlay those positive feelings into an exclusive relationship like he wanted.
We talked and laughed, and eventually cocktail hour became cocktail hour-and-a-half. Church complained he was wasting away, so we sat to the meal. He had observed his customary two drink limit. He was more than sixty years removed from his former alcoholism, but he remained wary of intoxicants. I’d only seen him drunk three times in all the years since I took his alcoholism away.
I had two drinks and planned to have one more with dinner. I was a relative lightweight and two drinks on an empty stomach gave me quite a buzz. It wouldn’t last long, but I didn’t like to be out of control. Primis had three and appeared to handle the liquor well. Joe matched Primis, but he seemed to have quite a glow on.
Ancil served the meal with all the flourish of a well-trained waiter. I asked him to eat with us, but he politely refused, and I didn’t press. The food was delicious and enjoyed by all. The conversation waned during the meal but picked up around the time Church was gnawing the last of the meat from the T-bone of his steak.
Joe had two more cocktails with his dinner. As his intoxication increased, he seemed to overflow with the milk of human kindness. He poked gentle fun at Church’s table manners. “You certainly get your money’s worth out of a steak, brother. Why not just swallow the bone like a heron with a fish?”
Church dropped the bone onto his empty plate and grinned with mischief. “I would, but Shawn doesn’t like when I swallow bones that aren’t his.”
To my stunned surprise, Joe laughed at the innuendo. He wiped his hands and his laughing face on his linen napkin and dropped it on the table. “Fair enough. Preem is the same way. The Summas men are very demanding of their partners, aren’t they?”
I defended myself from Joe’s teasing criticism. “I never said Church wasn’t allowed to swallow strange bones, just that he had to share them with me.”
Joe seized on my comment and asked me to expand upon it. “How does that work between you? I mean, does it work? I know the culture here is very permissive when it comes to sex, but to be honest, I’ve always struggled with the idea of a relationship that isn’t exclusive. I know that you and Church aren’t promiscuous, but you’ve invited others into your lovemaking. Doesn’t it strain your relationship?”
I looked to Church to answer because I wanted Joe to have the perspective of someone who wasn’t raised on Solum. He explained. “The difference between here and Earth is that here, they manage to separate sex from love. If Shawn and I decide to invite someone to play with us, the decision is mutual. I would never go behind his back, and he would never go behind mine. It’s not cheating. I love him first and always. He loves me first and always. Any third party would only be a special guest. Most of the time, the third is a close friend who respects our relationship and would never try to come between us.”
I added my own thoughts. “Our relationship is strong enough that we don’t need to worry. If we were having trouble, I would be less comfortable about including someone else.”
Joe tossed off the dregs of his fifth cocktail and plonked the glass down. “Interesting.” Ancil came to offer a refill, but he refused. He wiped his mouth again and pursued the topic further. “You two have a great relationship. You always have. I remember how shocked I was years ago when I found out you used to have sex with Bem.
“I thought you were just playing at being married, but I’ve seen that isn’t the case. You’ve been together for decades. You seem like you’re more in love now than you were when I met Shawn. You’ve got a great, big family. Your kids came out well. They’re all pillars of the community and successful in their own right. You’re not carrying any of them. You’ve done so much better than me.”
He deflated as he spoke and seemed to sink into self-loathing. Primis put his hand on the back of his and held it. “What’s wrong, Joseph? Are you sad?”
Joe faced my brother, but he didn’t look at him. “What do you want out of life, Primis? Do you want what they have?”
“I want you, Joseph. That’s all I’ve ever wanted.”
“Why?”
Primis parroted the question in confusion. “Why?”
“Yes, why? Why do you want me? I’m not much of a catch. I didn’t save the world like Church did. I haven’t made a career of saving lives like Shawn has. I’m not particularly fit. I’m no smarter than the next man. The only career I’ve managed to carve out is an extension of my son’s success. All I seem to do is ride around on everyone else’s coattails. I spend much of my time following our wife around while she lives her best life. I’m a very average man. What is it about me that you desire?”
Primis shook his head in disbelief that Joe would ask him such a thing. “I love you, Joseph.”
Joe wasn’t satisfied by the answer. He pressed for more. “But why do you love me?”
Primis looked around the room as if searching for the answer. His eyes fell on me and Church. He stood from his chair and held his hand out to his husband. “Come, Joseph. Let’s go to our room. We need to talk, and we shouldn’t do it with an audience.”
Joe looked up and seemed to notice Church and me for the first time. He shot to his feet and apologized. “I’m sorry for ruining the mood. Dinner was wonderful. Thank you for having us.”
My brother echoed Joe’s sentiments and led the two of them from the room. I watched them go and continued to stare at the door after it closed behind them. I watched until Ancil appeared at my elbow. “Shall I clean up, sir?”
“Yes, please.”
“Will you be having dessert?”
“No, Ancil. I have no more appetite. Thank you anyway.”
“Yes, sir.” He bustled to clear the table.
Church rubbed the back of his neck with the heel of his left hand. “That’s fucking interesting.”
“What is?”
He pointed across the table to where Joe had sat. “Joe isn’t troubled about being gay, or if he is, that’s not the biggest part of his problem. He’s still stuck on the idea that he’s a failure. He’s unhappy being a cog in a greater machine. He wants to be the machine.”
I didn’t understand and said as much.
He elaborated. “Listen to what he said. He didn’t say one thing about not wanting to be with Primis. Everything he said was about not understanding why Primis would want to be with him. He loves your brother. He loves your brother so much, he’s afraid of letting him down. He’s afraid Primis will be disappointed in him. That’s why Joe keeps him at arm’s length. He’s not worried about being gay. He must’ve gotten over that. He feels like a fraud because he hasn’t built anything of his own. He supports Andy’s business with his art. He supports Dignissium’s career. In his mind, the fact that he’s not out in front of anything makes him less of a man.”
“But none of that’s true.”
He nodded in agreement. “I know that, but it’s the way he feels. Feelings are funny things. They can’t be reasoned with. I didn’t kill my parents, but I always felt like I did. No amount of logic would have changed the way I felt. Joe’s lack of…of…initiative, maybe, makes him feel like he’s less. He sat here tonight and compared himself to us and didn’t like how he measured up.
“He’s been comparing himself to us the entire time he’s been on Solum. Nothing he’s done here has been good enough because it doesn’t outshine what we’ve done. He said it himself. He didn’t save the world like I did. He didn’t save countless lives like you did. He paints for Andy and follows Dignis around the world. This whole thing is a dick measuring contest and he’s pissed because he found out his is smaller.”
As if to punctuate Church’s summary, the man with the biggest dick I’ve ever seen cleared his throat from the opposite side of the table. Ancil stood at attention. The table was clear, and all the dishes had been put away. We gave our butler the attention he wanted. “Boss, Master Shawn, may I have a word with you?”
Church leaned back in his chair and answered for both of us. “What’s up, Ancil?”
“Are you doing something, Boss? I know how your magic works and I can’t help but think you’ve been doing something. It’s difficult for me to know because I’ve been hornier than ever these last few days. The way you both are dressed tonight, and because of what we did earlier, I keep thinking about sex. I can’t get it out of my head. I’ve had to work so much harder than usual to keep my focus on serving because all I can think about is what I want to do with you. Are you trying to seduce me?”
Church slapped the table in a show of disgust at our oversight. “Oh God, I’m so sorry, Ancil! Shawn had me increase my power output earlier because we were trying to get our brothers in bed together. Joe and Primis have never been together without their wife. We thought it would be good for them if they were. I didn’t think about what my magic would do to you.”
I apologized for my role in the oversight. “Stupid of me, Ancil.”
He accepted our apologies but remained rooted in place. He pulled a chair out and started to sit but bolted back up when he realized he hadn’t been given leave to join us. “May I?”
Church and I nodded our permission.
He sat and put his hands on top of the table. “Boss, Master Shawn, I wonder if your offer from last night still stands. I know that what we did after you made the offer was likely more than you intended. We also had a rather exuberant session just a few hours ago, but I’m forced to admit that I desperately need release from the sexual tension I am currently filled with. We showered together earlier. You both saw the size of the troublemaker. I wonder if you would still be willing to…to…uhm…”
I saw where he was going with his awkward request. “You want your potency back and you want to engage with us again tonight?”
He nodded like he was trying to dislodge his head from his neck.
Church left the decision to me. “You said you wanted to be alone as a couple tonight. This isn’t what we planned, but his trouble is our fault.”
I apologized to Ancil again. “It’s not ‘our’ fault, it’s mine. I was thoughtless. Yes, Ancil, I invite you to bed with us. We don’t have to share magic, though I would like to. Church won’t give us as much as he did last night. I’m no longer a tangle of raw nerves, so we shouldn’t have to worry about going too far. I think just enough magic for a superficial connection would be appropriate. Oh, I don’t think I’m up for bottoming for you. Your troublemaker is intimidating to say the least.”
His face fell until Church spoke up. “Don’t worry, my friend. Shawn isn’t as much of a bottom as I am. I want every inch of that monster.”
He smiled wide enough to light the whole room. “Really, Boss? You’ll let me have you?”
“Oh, fuck yeah. You’ll have to go slow, but I think I can manage.”
I offered what help I could be. “I can relax you with magic.”
Church shook his head. “Not a chance. I want to feel what it’s like to be stretched out by that fat salami. Save your magic to tighten me back up when he’s done battering my back door.”
Ancil popped up out of his chair. “I will prepare the room.” His face scrunched and he shook his head. “Unless you weren’t done talking. I didn’t mean to rush you. Everyone just ate, so maybe some time for food to settle would be best.”
I tried to calm our butler who seemed overwhelmed either by excitement or concern about what we agreed to do. “Relax, my friend. Nothing has changed between us. You’re still you and I’m still me and Church is still him. In a little while, when the evening has wound down a bit further, we’ll meet as friends and play. You have nothing to fear. If at any point, you change your mind, we’ll stop. Alright?”
He nodded only once. “Yes, Master Shawn.”
“How about just Shawn?”
“Yes, Shawn.”
“Good. Please prepare the room. Close the balcony doors and turn down the bed. Lower the lights. Find some music to play. Nothing too fast, perhaps a calm instrumental to set a relaxed mood. I think we should take this very slowly. Let’s not plan on rutting. Let’s explore and play and have fun.”
Ancil agreed. “Yes, Shawn.”
“Good. Are you alright with sharing Church’s magic if he keeps his production low?”
“Yes.”
I remembered how much Church and I had changed since we started sharing an abundance of his magic and felt the need to warn our friend. “You should know, we’ve recently discovered that Church’s magic has the capacity to change people. He and I have noticed our preferences getting more and more similar the more time we spend within his power. He’s given me his scent lust. I gave him my preference for being on top.
“We’ve also shared other things. I’ve become more direct in my speech and he has started to enjoy reading medical journals. I don’t know if those things happened because of the link we already share, or if anyone who spends time within his power will share certain characteristics. This is all very new to us so we don’t know what effect it might have on you. If you find any of that concerning, we don’t have to share his power.”
Ancil pulled his chair out and sat back down. He seemed troubled. “His magic changes people?”
Church offered a clarification. “The changes seem to be additive. For example, I’m still very much a bottom, but I like to top more than I used to. Neither of us has lost anything.”
He shrugged his narrow shoulders. “I guess I always knew I was changing. I’ve been changing the entire time I’ve been in your employ. My magic capacity is at least ten times what it used to be, maybe a hundred times. I’ve never been measured, so there is no way to tell. My telekinesis is incredibly powerful now. I shouldn’t be surprised that other things would change.”
He paused and pressed the fingertips of his hands together. He tapped his index fingers against each other as he considered how he felt about the news I gave him. “You mentioned the scent lust. That must have been a change from my time in Vitrum. The Boss and I worked out every evening. The first night, I went to shower, but he stopped me. He said he preferred me sweaty. I knew that was his preference when he was with you, Shawn, but I am not you. I didn’t want to assume he would like my smell as much as he does yours. He asked if I wanted him to shower. I said I didn’t because I wanted to experience him the way he liked to be experienced.
“The Boss has a powerful odor after he exercises. His new body hair makes it even stronger. I didn’t think I’d like it. The first night, I didn’t. That’s not quite true. The first night, I was uncertain how I felt. The second night, I liked it a bit more. I suspected I was getting used to it. By the third night, I craved it. I wanted to cover myself in his musk, wrap his scent around me like a blanket. While I was with him, I had no desire to ever breathe fresh air again. Are you telling me that was because of his magic?”
Church nodded like he was completely certain, but I offered a more cautious affirmation. “In your case, the magic may have played a role, but we don’t know enough to be sure. I was with several men before I met Church, and I never met one who was attracted to scent like he is. It was usual for me and my partner to shower before we engaged and again after. You may have merely tried something new and decided you liked it. You like the smell of feet, don’t you?”
He nodded. “Very much.”
“Maybe you just discovered you liked pit musk as well. Once upon a time, I took a risk and slapped Church’s butt while I was topping him. He loved it and it became a regular feature of our lovemaking. There was no magic involved in that experiment. We just discovered something we liked that we hadn’t tried before. Also, the changes from the magic haven’t made me enjoy anything that I used to hate. It’s not like I was a strict top, and I became a passionate bottom. My preference was to be on top, but I bottomed regularly. Now I like bottoming more than I used to.”
Ancil nodded carefully, like he still wasn’t sure what to think. “Thank you for warning me. I think I’ll still accept the magic. I like sharing my thoughts with both of you. It makes sex so much more intuitive. I never have to wonder if what I’m doing is right or wrong. I get immediate and constant feedback. That will be especially important tonight. I’m nervous about what we’re going to do. It’s been a very long time since I even thought about topping. I need to know that what I’ll be doing is pleasurable and not painful. I have hurt people. I never want to do that again. Safety alone is worth it to me to share magic.”
His logic was sound, but he still seemed uncertain. His buoyant mood had become contemplative. I worried because I didn’t want him to do something he was unsure of. I also didn’t want him distracted during our lovemaking. Sex is supposed to be fun. I almost wished I hadn’t said anything about the magic, but it didn’t feel right to keep it quiet. I tried a fresh approach to allay his concerns. “Ancil, what do you think of my husband? Do you think he is a good man?”
He replied like he had to defend Church from some kind of attack. “Of course, he’s a good man! He helps everyone. Look what he’s done for me. He gave me a chance to change my life. Without him, I would be in jail, or I’d still be spending all my money on women. I might never have grown as a person without The Boss’s help.”
I didn’t tell him that if the decision had been left entirely to Church, he would have gone to prison for a very long time. The opportunity he was given to change his life came from my Uncle Ars. That fact aside, after some initial anger and harsh words, Church did keep an open mind about Ancil and permitted him to prove himself. None of that was the point, though. The point was that he saw Church as a good man. I explained why that mattered.
“I’ve found that Church’s magic, like all magic, carries his intentions.”
He shook his head that he didn’t understand. Church was confused as well. I offered an example. “If I pick up a hammer to use as a tool, the hammer carries my intentions. If I strike a nail to create something, the hammer carries good intentions. If I use it to smash someone’s skull, the hammer carries bad intentions. Church is a good man, therefore his magic carries his good intentions. I believe that no matter what changes may result from sharing his power, those changes would never be bad or harmful. Does that make sense?”
Ancil tapped his index fingers together a few times while he considered my reasoning. At length, he nodded sharply. “I think that’s right. I know The Boss would never hurt me or anyone else, unless he had to do it to protect someone he loved. I believe in him. I’m ready to share his magic.”
I hadn’t intended to make sharing magic an affirmation of Church’s character, but that’s the way Ancil seemed to take it. I wasn’t about to attempt to reexplain because the desired result had been achieved. Ancil was now comfortable with Church and his power. Our lovemaking would be better for it and we’d be able to help support him as he explored his regained potency.
He hopped up from the table. “I’ll get everything ready. Where would you like me to wait for you?”
Church made a suggestion. “Take your time with the preparations and come back here. You’ve had the pleasure of looking at us all through dinner. I want you to reveal yourself to us so we can have the same pleasure.”
High color rose in Ancil’s cheeks. Church’s suggestion embarrassed him. “Really, Boss? You like the way I look? I’m not big like you or Shawn.”
“I find you very attractive. So does Shawn. I don’t really have types. I like men who are comfortable in their skin. You are one of those and that makes you my type.”
He bashfully averted his eyes away from Church’s compliment, cleared his throat, and hurried away to make the room ready.
Church returned us to the topic of our brothers. “I wish Joe wasn’t so fucked up. I wish he could see what a blessing his life has been and just be happy. Everything is working for him. He didn’t die of ALS sixty years ago. I would think that almost dying would make someone value their life more than he does. We were on Earth in what, twenty-twenty-five? Joe was supposed to be dead by twenty-six. It’s twenty-seventy-fucking-eight. He’s had fifty-two more years than he expected to get. Other than the first twelve when he was mister-fat-sad-sack, he’s done pretty well for all of them. Why can’t he just be happy?”
I poked my index finger into his ribs. He jumped and swatted me away. “HEY! What was that for?”
“It’s to snap you out of the trance you must be in. I might rewind time and ask the version of you from twenty-twenty-five or even twenty-thirty-seven why you couldn’t just be happy. I seem to remember a man who was healthy and fit and who had plenty of money and a gorgeous husband, but he couldn’t find his happiness either. Or maybe I remember that man incorrectly.”
He rubbed the back of his neck with the heel of his left hand and sighed. “Yeah, you’re right, especially about the gorgeous husband part!”
We both chuckled, then he went on with what he had to say. “I guess I forget how I used to feel. It’s like when you took my cigarette habit away in twenty-nineteen, I didn’t know how I’d be able to survive without a cigarette at least every hour. Eventually, I was quite happy without them. When we were on Earth six years later, I would see someone smoking and wonder how they could do something so harmful to themselves.
“I guess the way I felt about Joe was the same hypocrisy. All the shit he was worried about when he came here has been resolved. Your brother loves him to death. His son Andy has made him a grandpa six times over. His wife is a pain in the ass, but he could deal with that easy enough. I guess he’s sad because he’s still fucked up like I was fucked up.”
“Well, what do we do about it? We’re not going to stand by and let it go on, are we?”
“Of course not. Let’s see how Primis makes out with him. I’ll also pull Joe aside tomorrow and have a chat. Maybe he’ll listen. Do you have any suggestions? I figured I’d recommend he see my old shrink. Maybe him and Primis could go together like you and me used to.”
“That’s a thought, but I wonder if there’s something you could do for them. What would you say to sharing magic with them?”
He stared like I’d grown a second head.
“What?”
“What do you mean, ‘what?’ I’m NOT having sex with Joe! I don’t care how fucked up he is.”
I couldn’t believe my ears. “What the heck are you talking about? I just thought you could share magic so my brother and your brother could see inside each other. Maybe if Joe could feel first-hand how much Primis loved him, he could start to heal.”
He slapped his knee and tossed his head back when he grasped my explanation. “OH! I thought…never mind what I thought. I only ever share magic with people we fuck. When you told me to share with our brothers, I thought you were suggesting we bring the family a lot closer.”
I laughed and shook my head. “Absolutely not. I love my brother, but there are limits. As for Joseph, why would I settle for ground chuck when I already have prime beef?”
Church barked with laughter. “Oh, that’s good. He’s gonna get so mad when I start calling him ‘Chuck.’”
“Don’t you dare! You’re supposed to help him, not drive him nuts.”
He held his right hand up like he was taking an oath. “OK, alright, I won’t call him Chuck. For the magic thing, I don’t know. I don’t love the idea, but I’ll do it if it will help. I won’t do it alone, though. You’ve got to be there to keep me from making an ass of myself.”
“I don’t see how my presence will prevent the inevitable.”
He laughed again. “Did you just use sarcasm? WOW, Shawn! I’m impressed.”
I laughed with him. I wondered for barely a moment if my rare use of sarcasm was a result of living with Church and his sarcasm for years, or if it was from the magic sharing. I decided I didn’t care.
The lights in the suite dimmed around us but the decorative lamp over the table remained bright. Ancil approached out of the twilight. He stopped at the edge of the table, just inside where the light shone on his delicate white skin. He waited to be acknowledged. I reached out for Church’s hand. He accepted and spoke to our butler. “Yes, Ancil?”
“Everything is ready, Boss.”
“That’s good.” He gripped my hand. “Are we ready, Lover?”
I nodded. “Yes, we are.”
