I come back from my run as Danny is still asleep, with everything that happened I don’t want Danny to think that anything happened between us so I quickly push his clothes right next to the bed and find the sleeping bag, and put it over the couch so it looks like nothing happened.

Trying to not wake Danny up, I just do some cleaning up when Adam comes over after he saw Danny’s truck outside my place when he woke up. “Well, you’ll prove yourself no worries then and I know the Afternoon team’s boss man will be happy to have someone like that on his team,” Danny says with a smirk and a wink of his own. I sit there confused but then quickly realise and point to him “You…. You’re the one who thought that I’d be better suited to the office and you’re the Afternoon shift leader aren’t you”.

Danny puts his hands up “Yeah, I pulled a few strings to get you out of the bind and we needed a new admin worker so I thought that it would be absolutely good for you because you’re in a self-controlled environment so the only person you have to answer to is me”.

I look at Danny nodding “You’re not mad at me are you man?” he says with a worried tone in his voice as he thinks if he’s made a bad decision. “Of course, I’m not Danny, I appreciate it so much man, having someone looking out at me” Danny smiles and nods and heads off finally going home to Tash for a while.

After Danny leaves, I try to do some more research on Tash on the internet and there isn’t too much to go on but I am adamant that I know her from somewhere back home and she was bad news. I struggle to find anything after spending the rest of the morning trying to find anything.

The rest of the afternoon and night, I spend just around the house doing things before getting ready for the next day at work. After getting into bed, just lying there I have self-doubt about whether I should have told Danny absolutely everything about what we did and the fact that we fucked especially now he’s going to be my boss.

The next day at work is a pleasant change from what I’ve experienced, turning up and not feeling any sort of nonsense or ill-will from anyone else on the team. I turn up early and meet Danny outside “Sup man, ready for the first afternoon shift”. Danny smiles “Well I'm glad that you are excited about this, I’ll show you to your office.

Following Danny, he takes me into an office and shows me to a separate desk “This is our office Keppel, I’m barely in it so it’s practically your space and you can lock the door if you don’t want visitors”. I look at Danny, “aren’t all the admin guys upstairs of the main building so why are you giving me your office, won’t that cause more issues?”

Danny shakes his head “Nah, there’s a lack of space up there and with my team, I get to choose where they go and I’d rather have you around seeing you’re going to be doing plenty of work for me it’s better to have you around here”. I watch Danny walk out, still looking pretty drained but still hot as fuck especially with his firm butt hugging his tight pants.

The next fortnight really flies by with no dramas at work or in my personal life which makes me happy. It’s just before the end of the shift when Danny walks in with some news for me “Hey man, have you got a minute?” he says coming in sitting on my desk.

Have I done something wrong?” I ask worried because I’ve passed every piece of coursework so far and had nothing bad happen at all since working on Danny’s team. “No you haven’t done anything wrong, I got this today about something that is happening here next week and I thought that you needed to see this" I pick up the printed notice that Danny gives me and start to get angry:

“Golden Eagle Industrial and Mining corporation announces that the Honourable Brian Keppel, Leader of the National Democratic Party, Graham Irwin, NDP candidate, and Henry Chambers NWHM, CEO and Founder of Golden Eagle Industrial and Mining will be holding an Election Campaign visit to the Yellow Peak Mines on Tuesday at 11 am.

The visit will be to announce a $130 million expansion to the Yellow Peak Mines facility as well as a $1.1 billion upgrade to National Highway 3 (McGarrett-Williams Highway) to be built by Golden Eagle in 2023. There will also be a preparatory visit to the Yellow Peak Mines on Monday at 2 pm by an advisor to Mr. Keppel to ensure a smooth transition for Mr. Keppel’s visit on Tuesday”.

I finish reading the note “Fucking hell… I didn’t have anything to do with this Danny honestly” my words are not needed as he puts his hand up to stop me. “I know that you didn’t and I wanted you to know before the word got out to everyone and wanted to check that you’re ok” my face fuming that my father is doing this, knowing that I’m here working at the mine.

“Fucking fantastic right now,” I say as I slam my fist against the desk, thinking everything is going alright but of course every time I get things going well then something comes up that is going to derail everything but I just can’t let this bother me given the fact that I haven’t seen or spoken to my family in weeks.

That afternoon, I drive home and park my car in the “driveway” that I’ve started to create so that I don’t need to keep parking it out the front of the house on the street. I notice that the black car is parked just down from it and again I can’t see if there is anybody in the car. I start to walk towards it as I hear the engine turn on so instead I wander back towards Adam’s place to see if he’s home.

Knocking on the door, I realise that Adam isn’t home and so I wander back to my place managing to get a photo of the car and the number plates before going back inside. Sitting on the couch, I have no idea who it could be in the car but it’s just odd that it is parked outside my place yet again. Taking a wild stab at things, I quickly get changed and wait to see if the car has gone which it now has and I get into mine and drive into town.

Parking the car in one of the side streets, I wander the street and find the building that I want and push the call button “It’s past 5 pm, we don’t do appointments after 5” the voice says before I can say anything. “Mitch, it’s Isaac I came to ask for a favour,” I say as he comes down and unlocks the door for me. We walk up to his office and I can’t believe the state that it is in but don’t say anything because Mitch is clearly struggling.

“What do you need?” Mitch says sitting down and offering me a drink which I decline. “That car was back out the front of my place this afternoon and I managed to get a picture of it and the plates on the car and was wondering if you knew any way of working out who it belongs to”. I show him the photos that I took earlier and he has a concerned look.

“Are we talking legal searching or illegal searching?” he says with a cheeky smile on his face because I could use two different methods, one probably won’t get you the full information but the second I can get the information but if it backfires then we could both be in trouble as it would take some hacking”.

“Go the first option and see what we can get because if it’s nothing then I don’t want to get you into trouble or anything like that” Mitch laughs as I tell him not to get into trouble. “You have absolutely no idea what I have done in the past to hack into things about people like you have no idea what I learnt about a stolen car found crashed on Green Hills Road in North Grantham with a Male prostitute in the seat,” he says looking at me with a smirk on his face.

“I have no idea what you’re talking about right now Mitch” he nods “So that’s the line you wanted to go with then,” he says to me as I realise that he knows most if not all of the story. Clearly, I’m panicking as I start to get aggressive “You fucking say anything to anyone and so god help me” I say going to grab Mitch but he puts his hand up to stop me.

“If I wanted to say anything then I would have right now, and in all honesty, I don’t really give a fuck about what you got up to man, if you like a bit of cock or man then I’ve been there it’s good fun,” he says winking at me as the tone of the conversation changes. “What do you mean that you’ve been there?” I say looking at him really confused by everything right now.

“I’m Bisexual,” Mitch says sitting back in his chair leaning back “First time I’ve told anyone in town, not even Adam knows that fact,” he says to me and I look surprised. “Oh… wow really?” I say getting where Mitch is coming from and how it feels. “Yeah, I loved fucking around with guys when I was in College but back home was never going to be somewhere I could just have a quick fuck with someone hot one night after a few drinks BUT let’s get back to the topic for now,” he says trying to change topics quickly.

“Look I will see what I can do about finding out who the car belongs to and I’ll drop by with the info over the weekend alright?” he says making a note in his phone and receiving my pictures. I shake his hand and look across at him “And on the other thing, that’s our secret alright Mitch?”.

I leave Mitch’s office totally confused thinking to myself “Fucking hell, what was all that” but I’m glad that Mitch is willing to help me out and see who belongs to the car that has been parked outside my place and who it belongs to.
