Chapter 6

Tyler woke up the next morning to the smell of bacon cooking. He got dressed and walked into the kitchen as Lucas was standing in front of the stove.

Lucas turned as he walked in, “good morning, Tyler, how did you sleep?”

Tyler rubbed his eyes, “I was out like a light and slept all night. I just want to thank you again, for letting me stay here.”

Lucas smiled, “your welcome, it really is no trouble at all. You are welcome to stay as long as you want.”

Tyler sighed, “if Malik wasn’t missing, I would be back in Key West already.”

Lucas sat at the table across form Tyler, he said, “Drake is doing everything he can to find Malik, don’t worry, you couldn’t ask for a better man for the job.”

Tyler furrowed his brow, “Drake?”

Lucas rolled his eyes, “sorry, I meant Ridge, don’t tell him I used his first name, he hates it when other people call him Drake.”

Tyler chuckled, “so how long have you two been together?”

Lucas said, “it will eleven years next month.”

Tyler asked, “how did you meet?”

Lucas smiled, “we both started with the police department at the same time. He was helping on his first case, and he brought some evidence to the lab for me to run some tests. There was a bit of spark, and a few weeks later, I finally asked him out and we started dating. The department had rules about co-workers dating, so when I found out there was an opening at the hospital, I applied and was hired. Drake and I could be together without hiding it and have been living happily ever after ever since.”

Tyler asked, “why are there rules against dating in the department?”

Lucas answered, “it was put in place when women were first getting hired. They didn’t want to have officers distracted in case there was a dangerous job that both partners were on.”

Tyler thought a moment, “but you were in the lab, Ridge was in the field.”

Lucas said, “that’s right, and if a defense lawyer found out that my test results help convict a guy that Ridge arrested, he would claim it was a frame up.”

Tyler nodded, “so it wasn’t because you guys were gay?”

Lucas chuckled, “well no, not really, but that was a whole other issue that has only recently gotten better.”

Lucas got up and put the bacon and eggs on a plate and set them on the table, he asked Tyler, “so what about you and Malik, what’s your story?”

Tyler smiled, “we met on the bus as we were leaving Miami. Just like you guys, there was that spark and we have been together a year now.”

Lucas said, “both looking for a better life, huh?”

Tyler nodded, “yeah, I guess. But now, I am finding out that Malik had a whole different life than I ever imagined.”

Lucas asked, “did you tell Makil what your life was like before you met him?”

Tyler sighed, “no, I didn’t. I guess we need to have a long talk if we ever get out of this mess.”

Lucas said, “that might be a good idea.”

I walked into the kitchen, Lucas had already made breakfast and Tyler was sitting at the table. I said, “good morning, everyone, what are you two talking about.”

Lucus grinned, “I was just telling Tyler how good you are in bed.” He gave Tyler a wink.

I felt myself blush and heard Tyler giggle. Lucas walked over and gave me a kiss, he said, “I love to embarrass you, you are so cute when your face turns that shade of red.”

I shook my head, “let’s just eat, I need to get to the station, Rich text me that he is bringing Freddie in this morning.”

Malik woke up as the sun came shining through the window. That’s when he realized that he was no was no longer wearing the blindfold, he rubbed the sleep from his eyes. Damn, his hands and feet were also untied. He sat up and looked around the room, he was in a small bedroom that only had a bed and a small dresser. He was still naked, he stood and walked toward the door, he slowly gripped the doorknob and quietly started it turn it. To his surprise the door opened, he crept out into the hall. He discovered that he was in a small apartment, there were no lights on, and it was silent. Malik made his way down the hall and walked into the living room, saw a small kitchen off to his left. He saw a note on the counter, he picked it up and read, “There is food in the fridge, help yourself to anything you want, you can also watch tv. I had a few errands to run and will be back later.”

Malik looked around the rest of the apartment, there was just the one bedroom and bathroom beside the room he was standing in. It only had the bare essentials for furniture, a couch and TV in the living room, a small table and 2 chairs in the kitchen. He walked to the door and found a deadbolt that needed a key to unlock, he still tried to open the door, it was locked.

Malik opened the fridge and realized how hungry he was, he made himself a sandwich and sat down to watch the tv, he couldn’t find any clothes, so he pulled a blanket off the bed and wrapped himself up as he sat on the couch. He sighed, “I guess I have wait, I hope Tyler is ok.”

As Tyler and I were driving to the station, he said, “Lucas is a pretty good guy.”

I nodded, “yes he is, he would have to be to put with me for all these years.”

Tyler chuckled, “well, he thinks you’re a pretty good guy too.”

I shook my head, “wow, you two had quite the talk this morning, didn’t you?”

Tyler nodded, “yeah, I really need to talk to Malik, do you think he is ok?”

I sighed, “yes, I do. I have to believe that on all my cases, that’s what drives me to do everything I can to bring them home.”

He said, “yeah, Lucas said you were good at your job, thanks for everything.”

I said, “we’ll find him, I promise.”

Ollie met Tyler and I at the door as we walked into the station. He said, “morning Tyler, Ridge, the forensic team has the car processed. I was just headed to the garage to talk to them.”

I said, “I’ll go with you, let me get Tyler settled, he going to check out a few more mug books for me.”

As we walked to the garage, Ollie asked, “why do you have Tyler looking at all those mug books, you know we have all those mug shots on the computer now.”

I chuckled, “yes, I know. I just have to have something for him to do, just to keep him busy. I don’t want him to be alone, plus, I don’t want to risk him getting kidnapped too.”

Ollie asked, “do you think that might happen.”

I shrugged, “I don’t know, but I don’t want to take a chance.”

The head forensic tech gave us a run down on what they found in the car, which wasn’t much.

He said, “nothing unusual, just the normal things we would find in an elderly woman’s car. A grocery store receipt, a handful of fast-food napkins. The only thing we found that might be related to the case was a blood drip on the passenger door handle.”

Ollie asked, “did it belong to Malik?”

The tech shrugged, “don’t know, I don’t have a known sample to compare it to. However, it looks like someone’s head hit the passenger window. My guess would be a bloody nose or a small cut from the impact.”

He handed me the written report as I thanked him, and Ollie and I went back up to my office. The reception desk told me that Syliva Olson was wondering when she could have her car back. I took the note with her number and headed to my office.

She answered her phone, “hello.”

I said, “Mrs. Olson, this is detective Ridgeway with the Miami Police department, I am afraid we will need to keep your car for a few more days. Do you have anyone that can give you a ride until then?”

She said, “yes, my neighbor Helen can help me. To be honest detective, I only drive that car to church on Sunday and to the grocery store on Wednesday.”

I asked, “is that your normal schedule? You don’t drive the car any other times?”

She said, “well, I do have a monthly card club, we play on the last Friday of every month. We take turns hosting, and when I or Helen aren’t the host, we take turns driving to Betty or Jane’s house.”

I said, “ok, so it appears that the keys were in the car, that is how it was stolen so easily.”

Mrs. Olson sighed, “yes, that is my fault, you see as I have gotten older, my memory isn’t the best. I leave my keys for the car up in my visor, so I don’t forget them. My son has told me that is a bad idea,”

I said, “I would have to agree with your son Mrs. Olson, you really should come up with a better solution, once you get your car back.”

She said, “I will detective, will you give me a call when I can pick up my car.”

I said, “yes ma’am, I will call as soon as your car is released.”

I ended the call and reviewed where we were on the case, Slyvia Olson was obviously not involved, her car was just an easy target. Casey Davis didn’t seem like a viable suspect either, and I don’t think Timmy could have over powered Malik. The jerk from the concert was simply being a jerk and I was sure he was just overcompensating. That leaves us with Freddie Rogers, right back to where I thought in the first place, hopefully Rich could bring him in today.

Just to make sure, I called the Wave night club, they were going to send over videos from Saturday night so I could confirm Casey and Timmy’s story. I also called Jeff Barker’s school in Jacksonville, they informed me that Barker did indeed start teaching there at the beginning of the last school year. Freddie is quickly becoming my number one, hell, right now he is my only suspect.

Tyler walked into my office, “sorry to bother you, but is there someplace I can get a soda or something to drink?”

I smiled, “sure, you can wait here, I’ll go get it for you, what would you like?”

Tyler said, “a Coke would be fine if you have it.”

I nodded, “ok, be back in a minute.”

Tyler stood and looked at the pictures on the wall of Ridge’s office, he saw Malik’s picture on one side. He looked to the other side and saw his picture and one of Joey. He hung his head, he really did feel bad about what he did to Joey. He thought once Malik was found, maybe he should try to go see Joey and Dylan. Thinking about Dylan brought a slight smile to his face. He remembered the first day they met at Mr. Edwards’ apartment, Dylan was so shy and scared. Tyler had already been in the apartment for a little over six months and he did his best to put Dylan at ease. About a month later, after Edwards had his way with Dylan, Tyler saw Dylan come out from his shower and thought that he had been crying.

Dylan sat on the couch next to Tyler asked, “are you ok? Did he hurt you?”

Dylan shook his head, “no, I guess I’ll just have to get used to him.”

Tyler moved closer to Dylan, “just don’t think about it, he usually doesn’t last long and thankful he doesn’t have a big dick.”

They both chuckled, Tyler thought this was the first time that he had seen Dylan smile. He moved closer and without talking they soon were kissing and pulling each other’s clothes off. They both took their time, it was the first time in long time that they weren’t having sex just to get the old pervert off. Dylan gasped when Tyler swallowed his entire cock and began to fondle his nuts. Tyler decided to stay away from Dylan’s ass, as he knew that Edwards had just fucked him. They moved around so that they were now in a sixty-nine and pleasuring each other. Tyler lifted his leg slightly, Dylan moved his finger across Tyler’s pink pucker, eliciting a moan, he slowly pushed a finger in, then two. Tyler sat Dylan up and moved up onto his lap and aimed Dylan’s hard pole at his waiting hole. Dylan looked up at Tyler wide eyed as he sank down and buried Dylan’s bone deep inside his love tunnel. Tyler started to bounce up and down, sending jolts of pleasure to every nerve ending in Dylan’s body. Dylan’s felt his juices start to churn in his cum-filled nuts, a few minutes later he was sending his sperm deep into Tylers guts. Tyler smiled as he looked down at the goofy grin on Dylan’s face, he gave his cock one last stroke and covered Dylan’s chest with his jizz.

After another round of kissing, they took a quick shower and cuddled on the couch. Tyler was glad that he could make Dylan feel a little better and they had sex many times while they shared the apartment. As Tyler thought about it now, he did like Tyler, but the feelings he has for Malik are so different. The same with Joey, when he first met Joey, he did like him too, but if he was being honest, he was just using both Joey and Dylan. They were just a means to an end, he needed them to cope with being held in that apartment, and to get out of that apartment.

Once again, he thought about Malik, was he going through the same thing right now?

***

I walked back into my office and handed Tyler his can of soda, he looked like he was deep in thought.

I asked, “are you ok?”

He gave me a slight smile, “yeah, just thinking about Malik, Dylan and Joey.”

I sat down behind my desk, “Dylan and Joey?”

He took a sip of his soda, “yeah, I feel bad about what I did, Joey didn’t deserve it and I should have help Dylan get out when I did.”

I said, “Tyler, you did what you had to do. If you hadn’t gone to that meeting with Joey, I might still be looking for you. In a way, you helped me solve that case.”

Tyler shrugged, “I guess, but still.”

I sighed, “and we are going to find Malik too.”

He asked, “when we do find him, would you call Joey and Dylan and see if they will talk to me?”

I gave him a smile, “sure, if that’s what you want, I can give them a call and see if they want to talk to you. But don’t be disappointed if they don’t.”

He nodded, “yeah, I wouldn’t blame them if they don’t want to see me.”

Ollie came into my office, “hey Ridge, Rich just brought Freddie Rogers in, he said we can talk to him now if we want.”

I grabbed my notebook and asked Tyler, “you going to be, ok?”

He nodded, “yes, I’ll be fine.”

I said, “you can wait in here.” I turned to Ollie, “ok, let’s go get this guy.”
