As Justin's final semester drew to a close, I could feel the tension building between us. His insecurities grew with each passing day, and the closer we got to graduation, the more distant he seemed. I tried to reassure him, reminding him of the apartment we had picked out in Lafayette, of the future we had planned together. But my words felt hollow, and I knew he could sense my own growing unease. My lack of a job in the new town was the cinch pin. Without it, nothing I could say would ease Justin’s mind.
And without a positive word from my company, my mind was ill at ease as well.
The company had been tight-lipped about the new position; Mark had not communicated with me. Late one day, Cheryl had called me to her office, she reassured me that things were moving, but that the delay had to do with a construction issue, and an announcement was upcoming. I was still unable to provide Justin with any concrete evidence of my impending move. I watched as the worry lines etched deeper into his forehead, as the spark in his eyes dimmed with each passing day. Even without Facetime, I could sense a change in his voice. I wanted to tell him everything, to ease his fears, but I was bound by secrecy, unable to reveal the truth until it was announced to the world.
With a week left before graduation, I received the call. The company was moving me, and I was to pack up my apartment and leave immediately. The news filled me with a mix of relief and trepidation. Relief, because it meant I could finally be with Justin, in the place we had chosen together. Trepidation, because I knew the journey ahead would be challenging, and I wasn't sure how Justin would react to the news that I had held something from him.
The day before graduation, the company made its announcement. I had been staying in a hotel room, waiting for the moment I could finally drive away. After the photo-op, I jumped into my car for the drive to campus. Traffic turned out to be a nightmare. The interstate was shut down; a truck had run into a bridge support. The usual three hour trip took over nine hours. It was late when I got to the hotel. I had wished Justin a goodnight hours before.
His graduation was at eight the next morning; actually, looking at the time, it was already after midnight. I set the alarm and plopped onto the bed. I was exhausted. Somehow I was able to pull myself together when the alarm rang, and I made it to the ceremonies on time. I’d forgotten how boring they can be. I snapped pictures of him and wondered whether his parents might have had a change of heart and shown up. If they had, I didn’t want to see them. His mother might have tried to save that last shred of her dignity by paying for his tuition, but the price of the damage to his soul was incalculable.
I found him standing next to the tree he’d promised as a meeting place. I gave him a hug and asked him whether we were going to meet any of his friends for breakfast or lunch.
“Nope,” he said. “I did all that good-bye stuff yesterday. I just need to grab my bag and we are ready for takeoff. Hopefully with no bumps this time.”
“Oh, now, what’s life without a few bumps. Let’s get your bags.”
“Where’s the car?”
“I parked by the dorm. I’d race you, but you’re probably not used to running in a dress.” I laughed.
“It’s a gown, not a dress.” He chuckled. “And yes, I’ve heard that running in a dress is more difficult.”
“Your hair looks good, by the way,” I said to steer us away from the conversation that I had started.
“Yes,” he replied. “It does. My boyfriend took me to an exclusive shop about a week ago. I think it was called Snips for Ten Bucks. He got one, too. I understand that his was so long that they had to call a special truck to carry away what was cut off.”
“I’ve heard your boyfriend is a very handsome man. People say the two of you make a great couple.”
“We do.” He ran his fingers through his hair. “But I’m the better looking one, and anyone would look better next to me.” He laughed.
“Don’t be a dick.”
“Oh, you want to talk about my dick now?” His chuckle sounded a bit like a giggle. “But then, everybody does.”
“Run up and get the bags while I bring the car around. I’ll meet you here in the front.”
Justin took off, and I went to find the car. I was just pulling it up as he came out. I stopped and rolled down the window. “Can I offer you a lift?” I pushed the button that opened the trunk.
“You seem mighty sure of yourself.” He laughed again. He was in such a great mood.
Justin put his belongings in the trunk and got into the car. “Did you want me to drive?”
“After we stop and get something to eat,” I told him. I pulled onto the main street in front of campus and headed toward the highway. I took the lane that exited east and wondered whether he would notice.
He did. “You’re in the wrong lane. You are tired, aren’t you?”
“You want to go home, don’t you?” I said, trying to sound oblivious.”
“I want to go to our home, not my apartment.” There was an underlying tone of anger.
“We are going to our home, Justin. Yesterday, my company promoted me to head up the new Lafayette branch. I wasn’t allowed to say anything until yesterday. If they found out that I had breached their confidence, everything would have been off. I couldn’t even tell you.”
As the words left my mouth, I could see the weight lifting from his shoulders, the tension draining from his face. He burst into tears, his body shaking with the force of his relief.
"I was so afraid that you wouldn't be able to move there, and I would be left alone," he sobbed, his voice thick with emotion.
I wasn’t prepared for this reaction. "Never," I replied, reaching over to hold his hand. "I will always be with you, Justin. Always. I told you, I’d go no matter what."
“I know. I wanted to believe you, but something deep inside me kept nagging at me.”
“Justin, when we get settled, we’re going to see a therapist together. There’s something that keeps trying to keep you from being completely happy. We’ll solve it together. I’ve got some issues myself.”
He smiled. “I know you do.”
“You’ll pay for that one,” I said.
“I hope so,” he laughed.
As we drove east, the landscape blurring into a kaleidoscope of greens, I could feel the anticipation building. Justin's hand rested on my thigh, his fingers tracing lazy patterns on my skin. I stole glances at him, taking in the curve of his smile, the way his eyes sparkled with excitement and love.
As we walked into the new apartment, the past seemed to fall away, leaving only the promise of a bright future. Justin pulled me close, his lips finding mine in a deep, passionate kiss. I could feel the heat building between us, the desire that had been simmering beneath the surface finally boiling over.
"I want you, Phillip," Justin whispered, his breath hot against my ear. "I want you to fuck me."
I led him to the bedroom, our bodies pressing close, our hands roaming and exploring. Justin picked up the purple pillow and kissed it. We undressed slowly, taking our time, savoring each touch, each kiss. I pushed Justin onto the bed, my body covering his as I settled between his legs.
Our love-making was wild and free, a celebration of our love and the future that lay ahead. We gave and received oral sex, our tongues and lips working in perfect harmony, building the heat between us. I teased and tantalized, bringing Justin to the brink of climax before pulling back, prolonging the sweet agony.
Finally, I positioned myself at Justin's entrance, pushing in slowly until I was fully inside his tunnel. We both moaned, our bodies stretching and accommodating, the sensation of filling and being filled so completely sending waves of pleasure through us.
I began to move, my hips rolling in a steady, rhythmic motion, each thrust sending sparks of pleasure through Justin's body. He met my movements, his hips rising to meet mine, our bodies moving in perfect sync. The room filled with the sounds of our pleasure, our breaths coming in shallow gasps.
As our climax built, I could feel Justin's cock swelling, and I knew he was close. I reached down, stroking him in time with my thrusts, urging him over the edge. "Come for me, Justin," I whispered, my voice husky with desire. "Let me feel you come undone."
With a final, powerful thrust, Justin came, his body shaking with the force of his release. I could feel the hot, pulsing jets of his seed spilling over my hand, and it sent me over the edge, my own orgasm crashing over me in waves of pleasure.
We collapsed together, our bodies still joined, our breaths coming in ragged gasps. We rolled us onto our backs, my arm wrapped around his, our fingers interlaced. We stayed like that for a long time, basking in the afterglow of our love-making, our hearts beating in sync.
As the sun began to set, casting a golden glow over the room, I knew that no matter what challenges lay ahead, as long as we had each other, we could face anything. The past was behind us, and the future was bright, filled with promise and love. And with that thought, I pulled Justin closer, ready to embrace the journey that lay ahead, hand in hand, heart to heart.
