Discovering The Real Luke

The first discovery

The next few days are pretty chilled although I feel a bit nervous when I get a call about having to come back to the college despite pretty much everything being finished for the semester. I head there at the time that I’m requested and quickly get a sigh of relief when I see a few of my friends so it’s all good news.

Sitting there with them, they tell me that our lecturer Chris wants to give us back our results and feedback individually which is a relief. I wait for a while as Chris is running late like always so about 40 minutes after I should’ve seen him I do.

Walking in Chris smiles “I have a major issue with your report Luke” he says as I look stunned and then think about the whole saga with the plagiarism. “Chris… if this is” he stops me and puts his hand up to stop me and starts laughing.

“The major issue that I have Luke is that there are no issues, it is absolutely perfect more or less,” he says and I let out a massive sigh of relief after thinking there were going to be issues. Chris talks about how polished the report is and how much passion that I must have had for my hometown when I wrote the report because it comes across that way.

Thinking about it, I’m not really sure that I do love Franklin but as he keeps talking about I think about it and realise that I do miss my hometown even though I love the city. The relationship that I’ve got with Dad at the moment seems like it might be the best it’s ever been although it might be the fact that we’re apart that helps us at the moment.

Sitting down listening to Chris, I appreciate all the positivity on my work especially after he tells me that in 15 years of teaching this subject this is the best report like this he’s ever seen in a first-year student. I get up happy, “Luke, I heard about the plagiarism situation and I knew that you hadn’t plagiarised and I put that in my submission when asked; You could tell this was a report written with passion,” he says to me as I smile knowing that I’m sitting at the top of the class.

As I leave, he gives me an envelope that he was asked to give me which I don’t open and walk out of the room and head out to the main courtyard. Sitting there, Amy gives me a smarmy smile which I look at her and smile as I walk over to her not deliberately causing trouble but at the same time not trying to avoid it as well.

“What did you think of your marks?” I ask her as she sits there with this air of superiority as she smirks “I got a 41 out of 50, that’s a pretty good mark and sits me up the top” she says arrogantly as I don’t let anything on right now.

Sitting there Amy looks at me as she gives Cam a glare as he walks past as I give him a nod to acknowledge him as Amy turns her attention back to me “You must’ve got a shock with your mark, all that effort and to just get that it’s such a shame”. Her fake concern is sickening as I keep listening to her slip up about being behind everything that happened.

“Oh, it must’ve been such a shock about having to face the academic review board because of your report and the plagiarism,” she says to me as I give her an inquisitive look and realise that she has put her foot in it but don’t let it on because I want to see her squirm her way out of trouble.

“Yeah it was a big shock, but it was just such a tough time you know,” I say playing up almost like I want to be her friend which I think might be part of her aims on this is pretty much blackmailing me into being one of her cronies.

She has a smirk on her face as I keep playing up about how tough it was “Yeah, to go through all that was just tough and I’ve got to see what happened” I say as her smirk grows bigger. “Well look, I can help you out if you want some help, I can get you some work with my Dad if things don’t go right although he’s pretty strict about where people keep the information,” she says to me as I let her carry on this rescuer act before I’ve had enough.

I stand up for a minute and start to go “I’ll think about it Amy” I say taking two steps before stopping “How did you know about what happened to me?” I ask her as she confidently answers me. “I heard Justin and Steph talking about it earlier,” she says all confidently which proves that she is really nothing more than a simple sociopath.

“No… no, you didn’t” I say to her as she is adamant that she heard somebody talk about it “I know you didn’t because there are only two other people that know about what happened to me and that’s my boyfriend and my dad”.

Amy’s face drops as she quickly realises that she is stuck in the mud “I know you were behind everything against me” as I say that she gets defensive and aggressive towards me.  “You sound absolutely delusional Luke, thankfully nobody here will be having to deal with you again,” she says as I shake my head.

“I might be a country kid, but I don’t live under a rock because I knew that it was you behind the blackmail messages on my OnlyFans page threatening to out me which is honestly the lowest thing that you could do and then I knew you were behind my USB getting stolen with my report on it and uploading it”. Amy’s face changes one from disappointment but almost one of joy that she’s thinking that she’s won in this situation.

As she looks across at me she has another smirk on her face “I always get what I want and when you’re like me, you have to take steps to do it but it’s done so I’ll finish all this without pests like you” she says as I nod not letting on that I got cleared.

“Well, I mean, I felt anger at you for all this but now I feel nothing but pity for you that you’re so obsessed with being at the top you have to stoop to levels like that so you feel important,” I say as I genuinely feel sorry for her. “But then I also feel even worse that you have to stoop to that level to get what you want and honestly, it doesn’t work,” I say to her as she gets a stunned look over her face.

“WHAT?” her anger growing “What the hell do you mean it doesn’t work, it 100% worked because there was absolutely nothing that could see you get out of it,” she says to me as I just smile at her frantic state.

“I got cleared, you can go and ask the review board because I got cleared about 20 minutes after we finished” I might have embellished a bit on how quick it was but I look directly at her. “It was a faultless plan, I’m going to fucking get those pricks that did this,” she says with a very scary vindictiveness in her voice as I look at her.

I let out a sigh “You know what Amy, I’m actually glad that you did this because you helped me prove to myself that I’m happy with who I am as a person” I say to her giving him more time of day than she deserves but I know that it isn’t what she wanted to hear as I walk off.

“Oh yeah, the board knows everything that you’ve done to me as well and I’ve lodged an official complaint for harassment so enjoy that,” I say walking off and head back to my car as I look back and see Amy shut down and get angry. I didn’t actually put in the complaint, but I want her to know that I’m not going to sit back and just cop any of her crap in the future.

The next week is a pretty relaxed week with work closed while the shop is getting renovated and then no Uni, I don’t know what to do with myself so I get plenty of solo filming out of the way so that there is plenty of stuff in the bank for when I get busy that I can upload.

AJ and I have been back in a good place where everything has been so much casual and open that I’ve managed to convince him to get back into filming and since doing that he feels like a more relaxed person.

Approaching my birthday, it’s a weird time because AJ is trying to spoil me even though I said that I don’t want to be spoiled but it’s nice with the little things that he has done for me. In the week leading up, he has either made me breakfast or bought me breakfast after we hit the gym together.

It’s the week of my birthday and I have mixed feelings about anything that could happen because I know that Dad is coming down to visit me but then at the same time I don’t know what is going to happen because my mother still won’t speak to me and Dad doesn’t say anything about her other than us texting and talking whenever she is not around.

08:53 am: “Hi Luke, it’s your Dad I was just wondering if it would be ok to come down on the Thursday instead of Friday?”

I laugh at the message because Dad still hasn’t realised even in all this time with a phone that he doesn’t need to say that it’s him because it comes up from his phone. I look at AJ “Hey bro, Dad wants to know if he can come down on Thursday rather than Friday because he wants to do some stuff in the city” I say that as AJ nods and smirks.

“Stop smirking, he just wants to explore a bit like the Museums and the art gallery those kinds of things,” I say to AJ as he looks and nods. “Yeah, fair enough I guess so where do you want him to sleep?” he asks me as I haven’t really thought about it.

I sit there and think for a minute “Is there someone where we can put him where we haven’t had sex?” AJ asks as I laugh about it thinking about all that.

“Well, my bed is out… the spare room is out, your room is out… guess the couch is out too,” I say laughing knowing that there isn’t a space in the house where AJ and I or either of us has had sex with someone else for filming or just in general.

In the end, we just put Dad in the spare room and completely re-do everything in there taking everything out that could make it awkward. “This is going to be weird having no bedroom set up for sex and filming,” AJ says as he looks at me and smiles.

“How long have you had that room set up for filming?” I ask as we start to put away the lighting stuff and cameras that AJ has in the room. “Honestly, since moving in here this was always the sex room,” he says laughing as we pack things away.

I pick up a box of toys from under the bed “There are so many things I haven’t seen in here before” I say laughing going through them as AJ whacks me “We’re supposed to be cleaning and getting the room ready for your Dad to come and stay”.

Not being able to help myself, I go through a range of things that I’ve never seen before ranging from cock rings to nipple clamps that turn me on. “Luke now is not the time for that” AJ says like a strict parent which is fair because he is doing most of the tidying up right now.

I sulk as I put them into my room and play through them again as AJ comes and gets me “If you get this cleaned up perfectly then tonight, I’ll use some of them on you”. AJ’s promise gets me back working as quickly as possible to get the room ready.

Looking at it after almost rebuilding the room, I smile as AJ puts his arm around me as I look at him “Thanks for letting my Dad stay here for a few days, I know it’s awkward and that you don’t like him but” AJ stops me for a minute.

“Who said that I don’t like your Dad?” he says as I look shocked as he laughs “Your Dad is a nice guy and genuinely I like him as a person because he accepted you for who you are,” he says as I nod.

“It’s your Mum that I cannot stand for how she acts and treats you,” he says as I have to calm him down a bit. “Look, let’s just forget about my parents for the rest of the day and just go out and go down to the club for a while,” I say just wanting a de-stress for a little while knowing that it could be a tough few days potentially.

That night AJ and I have a good time enjoying more cocktails than we probably needed to have and can’t keep our hands off each other heading back to the apartment. AJ and I get into bed but somehow manage to resist the urge to fuck knowing that we both have to be up early but there is a pretty hot connection right now and we make out and jerk each other cumming in each other’s hands.

Heading to work, it’s annoyingly busy today but being a Thursday it’s natural that it is busy and I have to deal with the most annoying people.

11:45 am: “Help me, bro… I’m dying”

I text AJ wanting help even though I’m only in the second hour of a six-hour shift as strong coffee and Panadol is getting me through the afternoon and I’m struggling to keep any food that I eat down. Thankfully, there’s a bit of a lull in customers right now and I do some work out the back of the shop which allows me to rest for a little while pretending to work.

I sit in the office on the chair, pretending that I’m creating labels and printing signs when I’m really just dozing for a while before I get woken up when AJ has brought me lunch from KFC which I really need.

“Fuck you’re a life saver man,” I say as I get into the Maxi Popcorn Chicken that he got me which I know isn’t healthy but today I just need anything. AJ sits there and looks across at me with a smirk on his face “What are you laughing about?” I say punching him as I just want to sleep right now with my head still pounding.

“I just love how you still struggle so much with a hangover because you are usually so careful about not drinking too much but you put them down last night,” he says to me as I realise that I did because I am so nervous about this visit from my Dad because this is the longest time we’ve spent together since I moved.

AJ leaves me after a while and I feel a bit better as I start working for a while actually being much friendlier to customers before I need to do some work out the back. Working out the back is good until Anna comes out to me “Hey Luke, there’s someone out here that wants to talk to you” she says as I look confused because even though I sometimes act as supervisor, Sam is here today and she is acting as the supervisor.

I walk out and see Dad standing there “I thought you were going to call me when you got here,” I say to him as I hug him more tightly than I ever have. Seeing him is much easier than I thought because I didn’t think that we would ever get along when I left and the whole situation of coming out but it was so much better than I imagined.

“How did you know this was where I worked?” he says as I see AJ wave from outside the shop that tells me he told Dad where I was. My shift is nearly over and I tell him I’ll meet him at the Café down the road where we had our first major argument when I first ran away and they came to bring me back home.

Finishing my shift a bit early, I head down to the Café as AJ and Dad are having an amazing chat as Dad complains about how fancy everything is food-wise when back at home he’d just have a Coffee and Choc-Chip muffin when here there are so many different types. “Hey you two,” I say as AJ and I are trying to keep things as friends despite Dad thinking that we’re a couple because that’s how we told him we were.

Sitting there, I order a Milkshake which really throws my eating plan out the window for the day but these few days are special so I can catch it up. “So how are you feeling after everything that happened?” Dad asks as I sit there and shrug.

“Pretty good actually, it probably wasn’t smart of me but I confronted Amy about what happened and she didn’t deny” both AJ and Dad look concerned about what I did but I’m not bothered because I’m not going to let people walk all over me.

“It’s fine, I think she got the idea that I’m not someone to be messed with and now I know what to do if anything happens and where to go,” I say as Dad looks proud of me and I enjoy the company with my kind-of boyfriend and Dad.

We head back to the apartment and show Dad to the room as he makes a comment that I never expected him to make “Anywhere that you two haven’t had sex that I can sleep?” he says laughing as I blush and AJ loses it laughing.

“Oh, come on Luke, your old man isn’t the prude you think he is” I blush hard thinking that my father is making jokes about his son’s sex life especially with his boyfriend when you always thought your Dad wouldn’t accept you ever.

“It’s all clean and the spare room is just that for when we have any guests,” AJ says trying to cover up that really it’s our OnlyFans filming space. Dad says he is pretty tired and heads to bed early which is understandable given that he is up at 5:30 most mornings and then in bed at 8 most nights to work on the farm.

AJ and I head to bed, cuddling into AJ is nice and we try to keep things quiet with my Dad in the next room although part of me now thinks that we should have put Dad in my room so we can have sex tonight. “So what are your plans for the day dad?” I ask him as AJ comes out and grabs his coffee and sits down next to me as he had the smart idea to get fully dressed for Dad to not see everything that his body shows off.

“Well, I want to go down and have a good look around the city because I mean the only times I’ve been down here are with your mother to come and see you and we didn’t get to explore so I want to go down to the Naval Museum and then the Aviation Museum because they’ve got that new exhibition that I wanted to see from when I was watching that documentary,” he says with an excitement I haven’t seen in him for a long time.

I know that him and Mum are happy but part of me thinks that Dad wants to be a lot more open and I think seeing me do things has wanted him to experience the world more. I tell Dad that I would love to join him if he wants me to and he says that he does because he wants to spend as much time with me as possible.

Driving around the city, I take Dad to the museums and we spend the day together just enjoying the company we sit there and just talk about things as I tell him about everything, I do during the day not giving him the details about filming sex for money.

We head home and order Pizza for dinner with a lot more gourmet toppings on it than what I would normally order back home and Dad is excited about it. Even though he’s approaching his 60th birthday, he’s like me when I first explored the city getting excited by simple things like fancy pizza and food rather than just plain stuff back at home.

Getting home, AJ invited Nathan and Tyler around and I get a bit worried that Dad is going to be off-put by Nathan’s look with his tattoos everywhere as opposed to my single owl even though he knows about AJ’s tatt sleeve and what covers his shoulder blade and pec.

“Oh hey man,” I say as we walk in after a long day exploring Museums around town which is a mixed day because places like the Naval Museum and the Political History centre aren’t necessarily my favourite things to do but the Sports Museum and Hall of Fame were brilliant and I can’t believe that I hadn’t even known it was here in Westvale.

“Dad this is Tyler and Nathan, they’re our neighbours next door,” I say as introduce them and they both look shocked that my dad is visiting and that we’re having such a good relationship right now.

We sit there and share the Pizza and dad has a beer which surprises me “Come on Luke, you know I drink beer and we enjoy a glass of wine” I say realising that he and Mum would be having wine every Sunday night when we would have a roast dinner.

Friday night absolutely flies by just enjoying a solid boys night as we watch the footy on TV and then talk about the old days when Dad used to play footy as a kid and how times have changed. I enjoy the night and I can see that Dad is as well which makes me so happy for him as just spending time with him is the best birthday present that I could have ever had.

I head to bed with AJ just after midnight with Dad crashed out on the couch after having a big night which makes me happy as I grab a blanket and put it over him as he snores loudly. That night, AJ tells me that he needs to be up early so I go and crash in my room after kissing him goodnight.

Although it’s a Friday night, it doesn’t seem that weird because quite often AJ has to go out on a Saturday morning and once I hit the bed, I fall asleep instantly. The next morning, I get up and look at the living room covered in banners and balloons everywhere as both AJ and Dad are sitting at the table smiling.

“HAPPY BIRTHDAY LUKEY” they both shout as I feel embarrassed because today I know is my birthday but at the same time I’m not going to shut out all the attention. “I told you I didn’t want anything,” I say as I hug both Dad and then AJ kissing him at the same time.

“Woah you two… calm down,” Dad says as I apologise for the kissing which he tells me is ok because he doesn’t want me to stop being happy about things. That morning, we all go out for breakfast before heading back to the apartment so that Dad and I can get ready to go to the footy that afternoon.

Driving to the stadium, Dad can’t believe what he is seeing “The last time that I came here it was still wooden benches right around” he says telling me about the old old stadium that sat here before the new Westvale Stadium was built and eventually the replacement the Galaxy Arena that sits.

Sitting there watching the game with dad, spending the rest of the afternoon just watching footy and talking footy with Dad is something that I missed so much.

We used to be the only two in our family that were engrossed in footy back home, my brothers would watch but it was us two that would go watch the Franklin Fire play every week at the oval just outside of town every week in the rain, hail or shine.

Spending the afternoon together is fun even though the team we both go for isn’t playing but I think Dad is just glad to be back at the footy. As we’re driving home Dad looks across at me “I’m so proud of you Luke, not just everything at college but in your life, I’m proud of everything that you’ve done”.

He keeps talking as I sit there with tears in my eyes as he keeps talking “I might not have agreed with how you did what you did to start with or your choices, but I’m proud of you because you knew what you needed in your life to make you happy and you’ve managed to build an amazing relationship with AJ, found yourself a good job and working hard at Uni”.

I smile as he says that before continuing “I’m also proud of you for teaching your old man that there is always more to life than what we know” he says smiling as I am just as proud of him for being so open-minded. That night we go out to dinner again as Dad can’t believe that he has been out to dinner three nights in a row when at home he’d barely go to a restaurant.

The next morning dad heads to church before heading home while AJ and I stay at home cleaning up before AJ tells me that he has a birthday surprise for the two of us which makes me worried about what he has planned.

AJ drives down to the bay and the wharf where we get out of the car and wander down to a boat ride as AJ smiles “Here we are” he says as I roll my eyes looking at the cruise that we’re about to go on around Pelican Bay. Wandering onto the boat, AJ and I take a spot at the front of the boat as we sit there as a waiter wanders over and gives us both a complimentary drink as we wait for the other people on the trip.

Sitting with AJ looking at the sun setting over the city, I put my hand on him “Thank you for making these last few months so amazing for me because I don’t know if I could have done all this without you” putting my hand on his as we sit there together.  

Sitting there AJ looks across at me “So what are the plans for the next year?” he says to me as I sit there taking everything in and just enjoying the moment that we are in sitting together. “Who knows what’s in store but it’s another story going forward because there’s no doubt that going forward that I’m still going to be Discovering The Real Luke”.
