Teddy

When Brian told me that his roommate, Jack, told him I was gay, I said, “wait, you mean Jack from my bowling team?”

Brian nodded, “yeah, Jack is my roommate.”

I said, “so, you knew Jack was gay, and he knew that you were gay too?”

He chuckled, “not really. When we first moved in together, neither of us ever talked about dating anyone. I didn’t think too much about it, Jack is kind of shy and doesn’t do much other than go to class and study, so it didn’t surprise me that he didn’t talk about girls. He seemed to loosen up after he started bowling with you guys, so I was happy for him. He seemed really happy after your last night of bowling.”

I asked, “so, he told you about we did that night?”

He shook his head, “no, but I kind of figured it out.”

“How?”

Brian said, “well, Jack likes to draw as a hobby. When he isn’t studying, he sits on his bed with a sketch pad. He’s really good at it too, he showed me a few drawings when I asked about them one time. Some of the drawing he showed me looked just like a black and white photograph.”

I nodded, “ok, so what does that have to do with our bowling team?”

He chuckled, “Jack was drawing one night and laid his pad on his bed when he went to the bathroom. He normally turns his pad face down so I can’t see what he’s drawing, I respect his privacy and only look at his drawings when he shows me. Well, I went to get a soda and walked by his bed and saw what he was working on.”

I asked, “what was it?”

Brian smiled, “it was a picture of you, and the two other guys from your team. You were all naked and hot as hell.”

I thought a moment and asked, “he drew us naked?”

He nodded, “yeah, and after tonight, I can tell you that he was very accurate, I think he had every hair on your sexy chest in the right place. He came out of the bathroom, and I was still looking at the picture and he started to stammer and try to explain. I told him it was ok, and I asked how he knew you, because I recognized you from our algebra class. That’s when he told me you were on his bowling team, which led to him telling who the other guys were and what you all did that night together.”

I said, “wow, did you tell him you were going out with me tonight?”

Brian said, “yes, once I saw that picture of you, I told him we had a class together and I was going to ask you out.”

I chuckled, “wow, I guess I will have to thank Jack the next time I see him.”

Brian snuggled tightly against me, and we drifted off to sleep. I woke up the next morning with Brian still in my arms and the smell of bacon and coffee in the air. I knew Wendy and Meg always made a big breakfast on Sundays. I should have told Brian, so we could have got up early to take him back to his dorm, if he didn’t want to meet everyone. I felt him stir and turn to give me a kiss.

He asked, “is someone cooking breakfast?”

I nodded, “yeah, Sunday tradition around here, I should have asked if you wanted to meet my friends.”

He asked, “will they be upset that I spent the night?”

I said, “they better not be, I never say anything about them having overnight guests. You are the first one I have had, so I’m not sure what they’ll say.”

He smiled, “I feel so honored.”

I returned his smile and gave him another kiss, then asked, “do you want to eat breakfast with everyone, I’m sure they made enough.”

Brian shrugged, “do you want me to stay?”

I nodded, “I want you to meet my friends, but if you aren’t ready, I understand.”

He sighed, “I’m going to have meet them sooner or later, I just as well get it over with.”

I smiled, “thanks, I know they will like you.”

We got out of bed, dressed and made our walk of shame into the kitchen. After I made introductions, Wendy and Meg invited Brian to stay for breakfast. Of course, CJ and Brad had to start teasing us with CJ asking about Brian’s intensions.

I said, “it’s not like I haven’t heard you horndogs going at it before.”

CJ laughed, “it’s ok guys, we don’t mind. Besides, you were quieter than Brad and Meg.”

Brad held his hands up, “it’s not me, Meg is the loud one.”

Meg scoffed, “alright, that’s enough. Everyone sit down; the pancakes are ready.” I smiled when I saw the table was already set with the extra plate for Brian. Wendy noticed my smile and gave me a wink.

Shifting the teasing to Brad and Meg relaxed Brian and we had a nice breakfast. They all seemed to like Brian, which made me even happier. Brian even pitched in to help clean up after we ate.

Wendy asked, “so do you guys have any plans for today?”

I said, “we are going to go to the park. Brian is going to try to teach me how to skateboard.”

CJ laughed, “a klutz like you on a skateboard, can I come watch?”

Wendy hit CJ, “no, we already have plans. We are going shopping for a new dress for me to wear to my cousin’s wedding next month, and you need some new dress pants.”

I smirked at CJ as he rolled his eyes and said, “yes dear.”

Brad asked, “where is there a skate park around here?”

Brian said, “it’s on Fairview Drive, right next to the city park.”

Meg said, “well, you guys have fun.”

As we headed for the door, Brian said, “it was nice meeting all of you, and thanks for breakfast.”

Once we were in the car, Brian sighed, “well, that went better than I expected. Your friends are very nice.”

I smiled, “I told you they would like you.”

He took my hand as we drove to his dorm. I don’t know why, but Brian holding my hand gave me a warm feeling inside. I hadn’t held anyone’s hand since I was five, holding my mom’s hand to cross the street. He wanted to change clothes and get his skateboard. Jeans and a button-down shirt don’t really work well for skateboarding, and I had already put on a pair of shorts and a T-shirt when we decided to go to the park.

As I parked, Brian asked, “so Teddy bear, do you want to come up and say hi to Jack?”

I smiled, God, this guy was just too perfect, I had never been called Teddy bear before today. First when CJ teased us and now as a term of affection from Brian, I liked it. I said, “sure, I want to thank him, maybe he will show me his drawing.”

We walked into Brian’s room as Jack was pulling on his shirt. Brian said, “hey Jack, you know Teddy.”

I smiled, “good to see you again, Jack. I want to thank you for telling Brian about me.”

He blushed, “sorry, I didn’t mean to…”

I smiled, “it’s ok, we had a great time last night.”

Jack gave me a half smile, but he still looked nervous. Brian undressed right in front of us as Jack and I were talking.

As Brian pulled on his shorts, he said, “yeah Jack, Teddy is cool with everything, he even wants to see your drawing of him.”

Jack blushed and said, “I don’t know… I’m sorry… I should have…”

Brian said, “relax Jack, your drawings are great, you should be proud of them.”

I said, “yeah Jack, I actually flattered that you drew me, and Brian told me that you were very at it. I really do want to see the picture.”

Jack sighed, “if you really want to see them…” He reached into his desk drawer and pulled out his sketch pad, opened it and handed it to me. My eyes went wide as I looked at Tony and Lance standing next to me in all our naked glory. Brian was right, he captured every muscle on Tony’s chest and had Lance drawn perfectly, right down to the stubble on his face. I was flattered that he made me look so good, he even had the veins on my hard cock in great detail. We complimented Jack as we looked at a few of his other drawings. He really was a very good artist.

I handed the pad back to Jack as Brian said, “we are going to the skate park, do you want to go with us?”

Jack seemed to blush again as he shook his head, “no thanks, you guys go ahead, I have some other things to do today.”

Just as we were asking Jack if he was sure, the bathroom door opened and a man walked out pulling his shirt on, he said, “I’m starving, are ready to go get lunch…” He saw me and Brian standing there and just froze. I chuckled to myself, he looked just like Murray from the TV show “Riptide” (a detective show with two good looking detectives that solve crimes with the help of their nerdy friend, Murray.) After he put his shirt on, he even put on the same kind of glasses that Murray wore. He and Jack just looked like they belonged together.

Jack once again blushed and sighed, “Brian, Teddy, this is Dale, a friend of mine.”

We both smiled and said hi and winked at Jack.

Jack explained, “Dale came over last night to study, and when you weren’t home by midnight, well, we…”

Brian laughed, “no need to explain Jack, good for you. We’re headed to the park; you guys have a good day. Nice to meet you, Dale.”

Brian grabbed his skateboard, and we headed for my car.

I smiled as I pulled out of the parking lot, “good for Jack.”

Brian nodded, “yeah, I hope Dale appreciates that big cock.”

I raised an eyebrow, “oh, you’ve seen his big cock?”

He sighed, “oh shit, that just slipped out, it wasn’t supposed to be out loud. Anyway, I guess I need to finish now. Once we knew we were both gay, we might have sucked each other a little.”

I laughed, “don’t worry, it would be hard to live with that cock and not want to play with it. It’s not like I haven’t messed around with my roommate.”

Brian turned to me, “I thought CJ was straight, he and Wendy have been dating a long time.”

I said, “I didn’t say I messed around with CJ.”

He sighed, “ok, let’s hear the story.”

I started by telling him about Meg and I joking about finding a bi guy to share, when we first met.

He asked, “so you had sex with Meg?”

I said, “kind of. Brad is bi.”

Brian’s eyes went wide, “you had sex with Brad and Meg?”

I nodded, “yep.”

He rubbed his crotch, “I don’t know why, but that sounds hot.”

I laughed, “yeah, it was. Though I have to admit, being gay, the only way I could stay hard while fucking a girl was if her boyfriend had his tongue in my ass, or his cock in my mouth.”

He chuckled, “I get that, I have thought about having sex with a girl might be fun to try, but I wasn’t sure how turned on I’d be. I’m not even really attracted to feminine guys, I mean good for them for being who they are, but it’s not my thing.”

I nodded, “so, tell me about some of your more fun sexual experiences.”

Brian spent the rest of the drive to the park telling me about a couple of his past hook-ups.

He said, “they were fun, but I never really felt a deep connection with any of them until…” He trailed off.

I said, “until?”

He sighed, “sorry, I guess I’m letting all sorts of things slip out today. I don’t want to rush things, but I think I felt something special when we were together last night.

I smiled, “I think I felt the same thing. Just so you know, I felt it long before we were in bed together. It started when we had coffee together, then as we ate dinner. But when you held my hand on our walk, I thought it couldn’t get any better.”

Brian nodded, “but it did get better, at least for me when we kissed on that park bench.”

I said, “yeah, me too. Of course, the stuff we did in my bedroom was awesome too.”

He took my hand, “yeah, way awesome, Teddy bear.”

We parked and Brian was soon giving me my first skateboarding lesson. After landing flat on my ass four or five times, I was able to go straight for a while and even turn the board around to go back. I was just glad that the skate park was empty, so I wasn’t too embarrassed. I learned that I was really good at what Brian called “bailing”, or as I called it, falling. Once Brian was done laughing at me, he took the board and showed me how to “Ollie”, “Kickflip” and “Grind”, yeah, I knew I wasn’t ready for any of that just yet. We moved over to the more advance area of the park and Brian showed me the half-pipe and he was effortlessly “catching air” as he went back and forth, picking up speed with each run. I did let him talk me into trying it, I ended up on my ass again, much to Brian’s amusement. I did have fun, I’m not sure if I liked skateboarding or if it was because I was with Brian. We finished our afternoon with a walk around the park, just like last night. It was nice to see the park in the daylight; it really was beautiful. We didn’t kiss on the bench today though, the weather was perfect for a fall day and there were a lot of families around, so we behaved.

We went back to the house and spent the rest of the afternoon with CJ, Wendy, Meg and Brad. Since it was such a nice day, we decided to grill burgers for dinner. A quick trip to the grocery store and we were all sitting in the back yard around the grill, enjoying a beer. The girls made some side dishes, and we ate outside at the picnic table our landlord left at the house. I was so glad that Brian and my friends were getting along well, he was fitting right in with our little group.

Over the next few weeks, Brian and I spent all of our free time together. We either met at the library to study or at my house. If we knew Jack and Dale were going to be gone, we would go to Brian’s dorm. Jack and Dale were getting along well too, and we would also spend time with them. They were both nice guys, even though Brian and I didn’t always understand what they were talking about. They would sometimes get off on some science tangent and have a lot of inside jokes about that. Brian and I would just shrug and smile at each other.

We decided it was too soon to meet our families, so we both went to our respective homes for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I did tell my mom and dad about Brian, and they again told me they would like to meet him sometime. Of course, I also told grandpa, and he was happy for me and wanted to meet Brian too.

When we got back to school after Christmas break, we told each other about our trip home.

I said, “so, my family wants to meet you sometime.”

Brian asked, “really, you told them about us?”

I nodded, “of course. Didn’t you tell your family about me?”

He said, “yeah, I told my sister.”

I asked, “did you tell your mom?”

He chuckled, “I saw her for a few hours on Christmas day, when she performed her motherly duties by giving us our Christmas presents. She spent the rest of the day on her computer.”

I asked, “does your mom know you are gay?”

He rolled his eyes, “yes, I mean I told her when I was in high school. I’m not sure if she understood, she just nodded and said, that’s nice honey. She went back to her phone calls. I told you we weren’t that close.”

I sighed, “yeah, you did. I’m sorry you don’t have a better relationship with her.”

Brian smiled, “it’s ok, I’m used to it.” He paused for a minute and then said, “hey Teddy bear, my sister is going with a friend of hers on a trip for Easter. How about I go home with you then?”

I smiled, “yes, I would like that very much. I’ll let mom know the next time I call her.”

Brian spent most weekends with me, and I enjoyed waking up in his arms.  I could see he was starting to get nervous about our impending trip home. I told him about how my relationship with my dad had improved since I came out and left for college. I really was looking forward to Brian meeting grandpa.

I tried to reassure Brian for our entire drive home that everything would be fine. He seemed to relax, but as we pulled into town, his nerves came back. Once I parked in our driveway, I gave him a kiss and said, “relax, I know they will all like you.”

He took a deep breath and gave me a weak smile, “I hope so.”

We walked in and after I gave mom and dad a hug, I made the introductions. Dad nodded at Brian and said, “nice to meet you, Brian.” They shook hands.

Mom smiled and wrapped him in a hug, “Teddy has told us a lot about you, I’m glad you could join us.”

Brian returned the hug and smiled, “thank you for having me.” He stood next to me and took my hand, mom’s hug seemed to relax him a little.

The next day, my brother and sister arrived with their families. They all seemed to like Brian too and I got to see my nephew and my new niece. Becky had had the baby right after Christmas.

Grandpa and Grandma showed up next, grandpa was grinning as I introduced them. Grandma gave Brian a hug too. Brian looked at me and I whispered, “sorry, I should have told you my family were huggers.”

He smiled, “it’s ok, it’s kind of nice.”

The rest of the visit went well, I was proud of my family for accepting Brian, and I was proud of Brian for taking all the questions that were thrown at him in stride. We packed up to return to school and made the traditional stop to see grandpa and grandma. I still loved my talks with grandpa.

Grandpa said, “so Teddy, you’re getting down to your last year of college, have you started to think about where you want to teach?”

I smiled, “not really, I guess I was going to finish this year and see where I have to student teach. Sometimes the school will hire their student teachers.”

Grandpa asked, “what about you Brian, are planning on staying here, or moving back to California?”

We both looked at each other, I admit, I was suddenly a little panicked. We had never talked about whether Brian was going to stay or move back to San Diego.

I don’t think I have ever seen Teddy this happy, not even back in high school. I always thought Teddy liked the jock type of guy, so I was a bit surprised when Brian turned out to be more of a skater type. I also wasn’t expecting Teddy to try riding a skateboard, but we all do silly things when we are in love. I know I am probably being overprotective, but I kept looking for any red flag from Brian, but so far, I haven’t found any. I even had to laugh to myself when I heard Brian call him Teddy bear, I didn’t intend to give Teddy a nickname, but it did fit.

Teddy told me that they had talked about Brian going home with him over the holidays, but Brian wanted to be there for his sister, apparently, his mom was some kind of workaholic. Teddy was thrilled when Brian agreed to go home with him for Easter. Wendy and I were going to her aunt’s house, it was in the opposite direction of home, so Teddy and Brian were going to drive home alone. Brad and Meg were going to Brad’s family.

When we all got back from Easter, it was clear that something happened to change Teddy’s mood. I didn’t know Brian all that well, but he seemed a little upset too. Brian was staying over the following weekend, Brad and Meg had gone home. Wendy made dinner for us on Saturday night.

As we started to eat, I decided to find out what was going on. I asked, “so guys, how did Brian meeting the family go?”

Teddy smiled, “it went good, everybody loved him.”

Brian nodded, “yeah, and Teddy bear’s family is great.”

I said, “I can’t help but notice, you guys haven’t been very cheery since you got home. Did something happen?”

Teddy sighed, “when we stopped to talk to grandpa, he asked a question that we weren’t prepared for.”

Wendy asked, “what was that?”

Brian said, “if I was going to stay here after graduation, or move back to California.”

I asked, “haven’t you guys ever talked about that?”

Teddy shook his head, “no, I guess we hadn’t thought that far ahead.”

I said, “you have over a year to work it out. We won’t get our student teaching assignments until the fall. Why don’t you just enjoy your time together and talk about it. I’m sure you can figure something out.”
