AJ snarled – “I do you a solid and you ignore the one thing I ask – be done in 90 minutes and make sure my room doesn’t smell like man sex. You didn’t do either thing for me. Get it cleaned up and aired out now. Syd is coming over and if it smells like ass/cum in here when she arrives, I’m gonna make you disappear.”

A chill ran down both of our spines, we looked at each other and started cleaning. Brady ran for the vacuum, I opened the windows and straightened up the bed we were using (shit it was Jer’s). I grabbed some pine sol out of the cleaning cabinet and poured it into a bowl with some water to let the pine scent take over the room.

Brady vacuumed while I started to pick the condoms out of the trash can and thought better of it and just took the trash out. By the time AJ was out of the shower the room was spotless and there was no residual man sex smell left. Brady and I crashed on a love sac in the TV room and burst out laughing.

Brady was the first to recover – “Thanks for that, I definitely want to do that again. So do you think he meant what he said – he would make us disappear?”

I laughed – “You know what, I don’t know. I don’t think I have seen him that upset before but he had every right to be. He gave us 90 minutes and we should have paid better attention to the time. I think we need to do something to make it up to him.”

We made our way to Brady’s room to grab his wallet, I was leaning against Brady’s door when he stopped, leaned into me, and kissed me. God, he was a great kisser. The next thing I know I’m falling into his room as his big brother opened the door from the other side and we fell into the room with Brady landing on top of me.

Roberto, his big brother, told us to give it a rest. The amount of noise coming out of Jer and AJ’s room told everyone that we had been at it and after the 3rd or 4th orgasm, we needed to put it away. We were trying hard not to laugh, and the glass of ice water dumped on us ensured we did. “Nobody gives a shit if you are gay, bi, straight, experimenting but no one wants to see your sex acts in person. Stop acting like cats in heat for fucks sake.”

At that moment, AJ and Syd walked by on their way to his room. Brady was still lying on top of me and Roberto had just walked off. Syd let it fly – “You know, most people go in the room before they fuck like bunnies. Just a thought.” AJ, Brady, and I started laughing. She was going to be really good for AJ, as much of a smart mouth as he is and damn, they were stunning in their own rights but together fuck I might turn bi-sexual. I was boning up just staring at the two of them.

AJ winked at me – “So Stevie, not as gay as you thought… Interesting.” How the hell did he know what I was thinking? Brady whispered to me as they went into AJ’s room – ‘I’d love to be naked and have sex with those two as well. They could do whatever they wanted to me – I’d even take that anaconda up my ass just to be able to enjoy the orgasm with them.’ “What the fuck Roberto?”

Roberto smiled as he walked back into their room – “You are still on the floor together and I thought you needed to cool off some more. Given you did not take the last hint pledge you need to fill my glass with ice water. NOW.” We both jumped up and Roberto called us out for being hard as rocks again. He suggested we may need to wear chastity belts to limit our sexual appetite.

Brady grabbed the glass and made for the kitchen and I decided to make myself scarce. I was glad the house was ok with us being gay but everyone had their limits – disrespect, overt actions in public spaces and not taking hints from the brothers in the house. I guess it was more common sense on our part, I now needed to find time to apologize to AJ and make sure we were square. He did do us a solid and we disrespected him by not following through on the one ask he had for us.

I sent a quick text to Brady – ‘dude, we need to find a way to make it up to AJ.’

Brady – ‘WTF for’

Me – ‘DH, we disrespected him. He gave us a place for 90 minutes of fun. How would you like walking into a room seeing Roberto and some skank?’

Brady – ‘solid. Got ya.’

Brady and I convinced Roberto to head to the store with us to grab a bottle of wine as an apology to AJ. We grabbed a wine from Chelan, WA – EJ Family Winery a 2002 Cabernet, we also grabbed some cheese, crackers, and some salami. When we got back to the house, we immediately went to AJ’s room but everyone was gone so we arranged all of the items on AJ’s desk and left a note – ‘AJ, we are truly sorry for not living up to our end of the agreed upon bargain, Love ya bro – Steve and Brady.’

It was late in the afternoon on a Friday so we went and found our pledge brothers and decided what we were going to do tonight – pizza and a movie in the chapter room. We reserved the chapter room and ordered pizza for delivery, grabbed sleeping bags, pillows, and a few Lovesacs that were in our rooms. By the time the pizza arrived, we had the chapter room converted into a freshman movie theater. We started with The Lord of the Rings – The Two Towers and then moved on to Star Wars: Episode II and then on to Spider-Man. It was around 2 am by the time we started the Spider-Man movie and over half the class was asleep.

Around 3 am AJ came bounding into the room jumping on all of us professing his undying love for Syd and boasting they would be married and have lots of babies. The way he was moving around the room reminded all of us of the Looney Tunes Tasmanian Devil but he was so sure of his future it was amazing. After a few minutes of annoying all of us, he settled down with the rest of us to watch the rest of the Spider Man movie. He snuggled in between Brent and me. He was asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow – he was Mach 5 with his hair on fire not more than 60 seconds ago and now he was cuddled up between the two of us sound asleep.

Brent chuckled at the sight, hugged our friend, and kissed the top of his head. AJ had that effect on everyone – when he was awake, he was your best mate and when he was asleep, he was someone everyone wanted to protect. When the sun came up at just after 6:00 AM, we all started coming to life to begin our weekly house cleaning. Everyone was slow to wake up but we realized AJ was already up but nowhere to be found. Cleaning activities were to start at 7:30 AM on the dot so we all slowly made our way to our rooms taking our sleeping bags, pillows, and other items back to our rooms.

At 7:00 AM we were all in the kitchen grabbing a bowl of cereal prior to cleaning when the back door bounces open and in walks AJ in a pair of small running shorts, running shoes, his iPod and earphones, and a bottle of water. Brady asked him what time he got up and was not surprised to hear he was up and out of the house at around 5:30 and ran 13+ miles this morning. AJ caught me staring so he hugged me tightly and whispered in my ear in good fun – ‘Stevie has a stiffie’, he kissed my cheek and grabbed a bowl of cereal. He thanked Brady and me for the wine, cheese, and salami. He had a grin on his face when he was talking so I knew something was up.

I asked him about it. He thought it was a bit humorous that we had gifted him a wine that he actually created for his family’s winery, EJ Family Winery. We were all asking him questions at this point when in walked the two sophomores that were supposed to make certain we got the house cleaned up – Travis (Trav) and Jeremiah (Jer). They tried to be hard asses in telling us to get to work but when AJ drew attention to himself, they both relaxed a bit. Jer was his big, which caught everyone off guard as Trav was the only sophomore that no freshman other than AJ put on their list for matches. As the Pledge Class President I had tried to find out what the deal was but had not been able to get to the bottom of it and there was a story there.

Brent and I talked at length about it and the only conclusion we could come up with was that the upperclassmen saw that Trav was attracted to AJ but the stupid thing about that was so was Jer, he was just more discrete about it. Ah, straight boys with gay infatuations – this was definitely going to be an epic time for all of us.

Brent, Seth, and I were openly gay with Brady and Kyle being more than willing participants in a little man-on-man action, now we also had a couple of others (Jeremy and Austin) that would dabble but only on the down low (keep it from the actual brothers in the house). Our first semester was awesome, the pledge class came together and gelled like a real family. We had a couple of sneak-away weekends where all the pledges left unexpectedly and went to a cabin or campsite without telling the brothers. There were extra chores when we got back but the bonding experiences were awesome. In retrospect, I was surprised how little sex was actually had on these weekends – it was more about getting to know each other, sharing our fears and dreams, and bonding.

As the semester came to a close just before Christmas, we had our last event of the year, and was optional for everyone as it would require folks to leave for home a day later for the holiday break. The pledge classes of AGR, ATO, Kappa, and AOPi put together a Christmas dance/get-together, and each person attending was randomly assigned to someone outside their house as a secret Santa.

We had a great turnout – almost 70% from each house, now we had a problem – none of our houses were large enough to effectively host 230+ people. We were on the verge of canceling when AJ walked into our meeting by mistake and overheard the issue. He asked to hold on canceling for 30 minutes while he made a couple of calls. When he stepped back in, he had secured the use of the local high school gymnasium – the principal and several of the faculty were enamored with AJ after he talked to their students earlier in the week.

The event was upon us and the planning had gone almost without a hitch. Booze was snuck into the venue but most everyone had partied before arriving. AJ was late arriving; he had forgotten something for Syd and wanted to make sure he got it to her before she flew home. When he arrived there was a Senior, Jarod from ATO that was hitting on Syd; she was trying to diffuse the situation but Jarod was drunk and a bit aggressive.

AJ stepped between Syd and Jarod which got Jarod riled up and a verbal barrage hit AJ in the face.  At this point several of the ATOs were trying to get Jarod to walk away – it was clear this was the ex-boyfriend Syd had been referring to earlier but Jarod was drunk and, in the mood, to fight. AJ told Jarod to have a great night and turned to escort Syd to another part of the gym. With AJ’s back to him, Jarod launched a punch to the back of AJ’s head which missed because AJ moved out of its path causing Jarod to hit the floor.

AJ and Syd kept walking which incensed Jarod even more. Now there were members of both houses getting involved and a fight was on the verge of erupting. AJ stepped through the line of his brothers – “So Jarod, you want to fight and it looks like you are bringing some of your brothers with you. To avoid ruining the night, let’s make a deal – you and me ‘mano y mano’ and no matter who wins everyone else stays out of it.” Jarod and everyone agreed except Syd, she was livid. Jarod was much bigger than AJ and she didn’t want him getting hurt because some Neanderthal thought he deserved her attention. She was very vocal about it and the girls in attendance were behind her. AJ kissed her cheek and whatever he said in her ear set her mind at ease.

Before AJ had turned Jarod launched himself again, AJ avoided this attack as well but Jarod remained on his feet. AJ did taunt him for always attacking when his back was turned and Jarod saw red and went right at AJ again landing a glancing blow to AJ’s right shoulder which only happened because one of Jarod’s housemates had stopped AJ from moving too far. This elicited a lot of words and actions from the females in the room. The two sororities formed a two-row barrier between AJ, Jarod, and the rest of the brothers. Syd yelled out to the men of ATO and AGR – if there is further interference, I will guarantee you all the worst reputation on the WSU campus – ‘horrible in bed’, ‘little dicks’, ‘bad hygiene’, genuinely horrible men.

With the ring established Jarod went at AJ again, this time as he slid by Jarod, AJ grabbed his right wrist stopping his forward momentum, then slid his leg and hip forward tossing Jarod face down on the floor. AJ had his knee in the guy’s back and his right arm wrenched up behind his back. Jarod was screaming and his buddies were telling AJ he was dead if he caused permanent damage. The girls again intervened – y’all agreed to the terms if there is any retaliation the same outcome applies. Someone in the group yelled out – ‘they are just a bunch of little boys, maybe we need to go to council and get them stripped of any social events for the next three years. That comment shut them all up.

While this was going on, AJ was helping Jarod up and adjusting his suit. No one saw exactly what happened but Jarod yielded and AJ let it go. We later found out that Jarod did not want to lose his baseball scholarship by having his shoulder injured and evidently sobered up enough to know he was in a position to lose it all.

Jarod and his group of 5 friends left the event and everyone had a great time.

The next morning it was time to head for home, AJ’s parents were in the foyer of the house when we all started coming to life. AJ was nowhere to be found, Brent called Syd who answered on the second ring – yeah AJ is on his way back to your house, he spent the night here so keep that to yourself. Brent let her know his parents were there looking for him. AJ walked in the front door at that moment. All of his pledge brothers and some members of the house had gathered and were talking to Mr. and Mrs. O’Brien, when AJ walked in everyone was interested to see how the silver-tongued devil would deal with this situation.

AJ walked up to his folks and hugged them both giving his Mama a kiss on the cheek. He told them he was packed and would grab his bag and be right back down with no mention of where he was and why he was just getting home. Mr. O’Brien asked if there were any other members of the fraternity that were heading back to the Wenatchee / Chelan area that would like a plane ride home instead of the grueling drive. Several hands went up – including mine; Mr. O’Brien indicated that everyone should fit as long as they were not taking a large amount of luggage. The 7 of us that were going back with AJ and his parents started calling our parents to pick us up, it was just over an hour by plane which beat the hell of a 3.5-hour drive from Pullman to Wenatchee and the four hours to Chelan. The O’Brien’s invited everyone to their home for lunch with our parents.

Sydney walked in as we were making our calls, it appeared she had her parents in tow. She walked straight up to Mr. and Mrs. O’Brien as AJ came down the stairs – “Mr. & Mrs. O’Brien, my name is Sydney Marie O’Reilly and I will be marrying your son at some point in the future. These are my parents, Charlene and Elliot O’Reilly. Mom/Dad, this is Evelyn and Jonathan O’Brien the parents of the most magnificent person I have ever known, Aaron Jonathan O’Brien and dear don’t let it go to your head.” With that said Syd pulled AJ into the hottest kiss I have ever witnessed between two straight people.

The parents were chatting away and it was clear they knew about the other child. There were chuckles heard occasionally but it was clear both Syd and AJ had clearly articulated that they would be married for life. It was clear AJ had not shared the fact he had been initially shot down with his parents. AJ made it clear it was a flaw in Sydney he was willing to live with as she finally came to her senses.

Everyone was heading home, the brothers that lived near Chelan were heading out with AJ the remainder were driving home. Everyone loaded into several cars and drove the short distance to the airport, what no one knew was that Syd, her parents a couple of her sorority sisters would be stopping in Chelan as both families had their own planes. The difference was that AJ and his parents had their pilot’s license, which allowed AJ to pilot us home.

When everyone was on the ground in Chelan, AJ noticed Sydney and her parents stepping off another plane, it was wild watching the recognition come over his face and the desire to grab her but the obligation to finalize the flight logs. Everyone but AJ, his Pops, and Syd headed for their lakefront home. AJ and Jon finished up their reporting while Syd held AJ’s hand. The three of them showed up 15 minutes later at a house full of their friends and parents for an impromptu luncheon.

My mom – Elizabeth marched up to AJ and hugged him – “AJ, my son adores you so I’m glad to meet you.” AJ rolled with the directness of my mom, which can be even more direct than our friend AJ. Syd was attached to AJ’s arm and was visibly amused by my mom Elizabeth, she winked at me when she caught me staring. It was obvious she could read my frustration with the chatterbox that is Elizabeth.

We met AJ’s grandma, Nanny. She was a hoot; it was clear she could be a fag hag if needs be. She fell right into the conversation the frat bros were having but all the while kept her eye on AJ and Syd. Lunch was fantastic, the food and the desserts were to die for which made it all the more difficult to understand how AJ stayed so fit, bastard.

Those of us that lived in the area started to leave with our families after saying our goodbyes to the O’Brien family. It was clear AJ and Syd were going to be getting the third degree from their parents as they continued to hang about. Mental note to interrogate AJ when we return to campus, it is too damn bad he is straight, that boy has me hard all the time.

On the ride home my mom was grilling me about all the guys she had met that day and cautioned me about having a crush on a straight boy with a girlfriend that was drop-dead gorgeous. I told her AJ is definitely a 10+, I know he is off limits but a guy can dream, can’t he?

The Christmas break was fantastic, I got to hang out with my family and just relax. The first semester of school had been more challenging than I expected. Just before New Year’s, I received my grades for the semester – I had taken 15 credits, which worked out to be 5 classes. My mom was livid when she saw my grades – 2 B, 1 C+, and 2 Cs a 2.5 grade point average. I was excited as I made it into the house and would become a full-fledged member after initiation when we returned from break. She read me the riot act about too much partying and screwing around. I took my verbal beating and agreed to do better, but she wanted me to call all my pledge brothers and find out what their grades were. I got ahold of 10 of 15 on the first try and 4 of the remaining 5 over the next couple of days. What I found out is that everyone had taken 15 hours of classes and the ranking of our class was – 1. Zach – 3.60, 2. Kyle – 3.44, 3. Joey – 3.40, 4. Brady & Ian – 3.10, 6. Brent, Jeff & Todd – 3.00, 9. Dave – 2.95, 10. Billy – 2.65, 11. Steve – 2.50, 12. Seth – 2.35, 13. Randy – 2.30 and 14. Mike – 2.25. This meant that 14 of 15 had made grades and would be going through initiation together, AJ, his family along with Syd and her family, had gone skiing in Canada for a few days. For those of you that have not been in a fraternity, your pledge order is important because everything important that goes on in a house is by pledge number and that is determined by your pledge order – the higher the grades the lower the number.

On January first I received a phone call from AJ, he and his family had returned home and received my message. We had a great catch-up on our antics over the break, we talked about grades – I asked if he had looked at his, which he hadn’t. I let him know that everyone else had made grades, I heard the rustling of papers and what sounded like an envelope being opened – AJ let me know he made grades. I conveyed the class rank as I understood it from Brent – Zach, Kyle, Joey, Brady, Ian, Todd, Brent, Jeff, Dave, Billy, Steve, Seth, Randy, and Mike – the ties are broken by the best 1st, 2nd, 3rd top grade. AJ was not offering up his GPA, so I flat out asked him to which he hemmed and hawed about his grades. He eventually let me know his GPA was 3.95. I was floored given he was only at school about half of the time due to his commitment to his state office. I congratulated him on his effort and kidded him that he must have used his body to make his grades. He was immediately on the defensive and let me know he was not happy with the ribbing. He let me know in no uncertain terms he worked his ass off, I apologized and let him know that it did in fact catch me off guard but I also knew he was an overachiever.

After wrapping up with AJ I immediately called Brent to gossip, he’s my go-to guy. He wasn’t shocked by AJ’s grades, he reminded me that AJ had been accepted to Harvard, Yale, and Stanford – all universities that have VERY high standards for admission. I made a mental note to apologize to AJ when we got back to school and I realized I needed to talk to my mom about my grades and let her know I would work harder for the 2nd semester. My 2.5 GPA compared to AJ’s 3.95 given the amount of time on campus was a slap upside the head – I needed to stop chasing the boys and drinking so much.

To keep my scholarship, I needed a 3.5 GPA for my second semester, uggghhh. Well at the end of the day college is meant to grow and learn as a human being – I gained weight and learned to drink, now I needed to focus on learning and getting back in shape as part of my future. I also made a mental note to talk to our pledge class and make certain that everyone got their shit together related to their grades and physical fitness. I intended to propose a goal for each of us to achieve at minimum a 3.25 GPA for the second half of the year. Our current average GPA for the class was only 2.97 and none of us were short on brains so it should be achievable. We also needed to start upping our fitness game – spring was coming and no one liked to see chubby bunnies without their shirts on. We could use AJ’s focus as a guide.

Brent did ask what time we needed to be at AJ’s house to join him on the flight back to school, when I told him I didn’t know he laughed out loud at me – “Damn you get distracted whenever you talk to that boy, he may not be 100% straight but he is definitely off the market with Sydney. Do you want me to call him or do you want to have another lovey-dovey conversation with him?” “Fuck off Brent. Yes, I would let him have his way with me if he ever asked but so would you.” “Steve, I never said I wouldn’t, I just don’t go all foggy in the brain when I talk to him. I can admire him and not lose myself in his voice… I will call him and let you know when we need to be there tomorrow.”

Those of us (minus Sydney) that flew home with the O’Briens were at their home bright and early the next day. It was freaking vacation still and we were there at 8 AM on the dot, which meant I was up at 5 AM to pack and drive the hour to their house. Oh well, the flight would be short and I could sleep when we got there. We soon realized AJ was not there – he had an engagement in Vancouver the next morning so he would not be flying with us, which begged the question – why didn’t we all just drive? AJ’s Pops made sure we all knew that AJs engagement was last minute and he didn’t want to throw a wrench in the plans. He did ask that someone get his car back to the house for him.

When we arrived back at the house, we were some of the first people to arrive – duh we flew and were there in just over an hour vs. the 3 ½ hour drive. I got the agenda together for our pledge class meeting so we could meet at 6 PM and set ourselves up for the rest of the semester. As more of the guys returned the volume in the house went up gradually to the point where it felt like we were all back in the swing of things.

I grabbed Seth from his room so he could join Brent and me in our room for a quick conversation, which I hoped would go well. I had not given Brent a heads-up about this but wanted to make sure we were all doing our part to keep the house gay-friendly. Everyone in the house had been very open to the three of us fully out gay boys but what I found from Brady and my run-in with AJ and subsequently with his big Roberto is that we needed to be less ‘out there’ with our antics. None of our straight friends were grabbing their girlfriends’ privates in the open and I knew we had all done that and needed to tone it down. Seth and Brent agreed that we needed to show some more respect for our housemates as well as ourselves.

Once that conversation was done, I sought out Brady to make sure he was on board as my part-time hook-up. He completely agreed that we need to keep our groping, kissing, and sexual escapades behind closed doors. Brady did make sure I knew he was down for some occasional man-on-man action and he really enjoyed our last get-together. Now with all the ‘sex’ stuff under control, it was time for our pledge class meeting.

I opened our meeting and Zach started in on why AJ was not present. He was always vocal about AJ having special privileges and how great it was going to be when we all got our numbers and he had a lower number than AJ. The lower the number the bossier you could actually be if you were an ass. I tried to stifle my laugh but failed miserably. Zach became more vocal and annoyed throwing my bad grades in my face.

Brent snapped at Zach – “Zach, you complain about AJ not being here but he was involved in more house events than you were this last semester, he didn’t hide out in the library like you did when house obligations should have taken priority.” Zach bit back – “That’s why I have the highest GPA in the house, y’all should stop partying so much and spend a bit of time on your classes.” Brent chuckled – “Well Mr. I’m the smartest, your world is not so special, AJ had a 3.95 GPA which dwarfs your 3.60 GPA. Yeah, just what I thought, not so smug now are you?”

I pulled the meeting back from the biting discussion between the two, but inside I was smiling my ass off. I covered the entirety of the pledge class grades and everyone, except Zach, was excited that we all made grades. I threw Zach a bone at this point – “Guys, Zach is right most of us sowed our wild oats last semester. While we all made grades, we need to get our shit together so that we can bring the house average up further. I’m challenging everyone to get at least a 3.25 GPA this next semester, if those of us under a 3.25 get a 3.25 while those that were above 3.25 keep their grades there, we would have an average of 3.34.”

Everyone agreed that we need to buckle down and study a bit more, there were questions on pledge numbers given the ties at 3.1 and 3.0. Brent answered the question based on what he knew from his older brothers which would put the order at 3.1 – Brady, then Ian, and the 3.0 – Todd, Brent, and Jeff. Official rankings will be handed down by the brothers during initiation. We wrapped up the meeting just in time for the members to start their chapter meeting, no idea what goes on in those yet. Even when I do, won’t be sharing the details.
