I really feel the need to introduce this poem. Yes, it were my thoughts and perceptions and I made the concept and the original draft. I sent it for review to a dear friend and colleague-author, who paraphrased my draft to what is written below. His paraphrase awed me. In my view he made it a true piece of poetic art of indescribable beauty. So, I feel honor-bound to mention him and give him the plaudits his work deserves. Thank you so much, F.E. Cooper, from the bottom of my heart.

And of course I hope you guys like it!

What we no longer are

We are no longer young gods

That made the gays run wild

When through the park we sauntered

In the last gold rays of light

With perfect grace and seductive pace

We are no longer heartthrobs,

Full of lust for light aglow so bright

For with the passage of years

Our luster, reduced to a lesser light

Dims not our precious shared sight

No longer are we cute devils in bed

Exhausting every lover on whom we could get

Our greedy insatiable lips

Thus pleasing their bodies’ last cells

No, my love, these days are long gone

No longer do our toys stand straight,

Always expectant and unable to wait

For the ultimate blast of lust and desire

They’re only that way every now and then,

That is: provided we both still can

No longer do our eyes burn with demand

For they have sedated over the years

We learned that love can be joyous

And can cause the shedding of tears

Until they are dried by another lover

It’s a shame your golden blond hair

Shines no longer there

Nor mine of long raven-black

Does it matter, my love?

We’re grey now and thinking of white

Do not think I’m only dreaming

Nor talking bullshit now

Or whiling this time so dear

I love you, and more than that:

I feel loved by you!
