A/N: Hey everyone! I'm glad you are all enjoying the story. As for the chapter length, after this chapter, they will be getting longer! I can't guarantee that they will all be longer, it just depends on where I find a good cut off. ?Also, chapter 6 will not only be longer, but also sexier ;). I am just deciding on whether or not I want to put both points of view in. If you have any suggestions, let me know! Anyway, enjoy!

Chapter 5: Will

I sat in the cafeteria alone, again. For some reason, the people here want nothing to do with me. Whatever. There is only one guy I actually want to talk to, and he is sitting at a table across the room with his friends.

I have been here for a week and I still have not had a chance to talk to Liam. I cannot decide if I should make the first move, or if I should let him. Ugh. For now, I have settled for sneaking glances at him in class, or giving him a small smile every time we lock eyes. You would think a guy would get the hint.

Stuck in my thoughts, I did not realize Liam’s friend Alessa was walking towards me until she was nearly on top of me. She leaned against the table, a wide smile on her face. I furrowed my brows. What was going on?

“Hi,” she greeted. “I’m Alessa. You’re Will, right?”

I raised an eyebrow, but nodded. Where was she going with this?

“Awesome,” she continued. “I know you’re new here, so my friends and I were wondering if you wanted to sit with us.”

I am sure a look of surprise crossed my face. I looked over Alessa’s shoulder towards the table she had come from. I noticed Liam looking over here and his face was a little flushed. So, his friend was going to do the dirty work for him? I smiled and let out a small chuckle at the thought.

I took my eyes off of Liam and focused on Alessa again. I kept the smile on, and told her that I would love to sit with them. She let out a small squeak and quickly grabbed my arm. She pulled me out of my seat and dragged me towards their table.

As we walked to the table, I noticed Liam’s eyes scanning my body. When he finally looked at my face, and his eyes locked with mine, he seemed to come out of some trance. He quickly turned around and acted like nothing had happened.

Alessa let go of my arm and went back to her seat. I took the seat next to Liam, and as I sat down, I gently brushed up against him. Just that tiny connection was sensational.

“Guys,” Alessa started as soon as I was seated. “This is Will. Will, this is Dylan and Liam.” She pointed to each of the guys in turn.

“Hey,” Dylan said and gave me a wave. He seemed relaxed and pretty chill, which is hard to believe when he spends so much time with these two, especially Alessa.

“Nice to meet you,” I told him and gave him a nod.

Liam turned towards me, and as he did, his leg brushed up against mine. It was like electricity ran up my body. He pulled away slightly, but he still kept his leg near mine.

Our eyes locked again, but a weird look passed over his face.

“Uh…I, I’m sorry. I have to go,” he mumbled as he raced out of his seat. “I’ll see you guys later.”

He did not look back as he left the cafeteria. I looked back to Dylan and Alessa, both of whom had confused looks on their faces.

“Did I do something?” I asked, concerned.

“No!” Alessa quickly replied. “God, no. I don’t know what his problem is.”

“Should we go after him?” Dylan asked. I was thinking the same thing.

Alessa looked as if she was thinking about it, but she gave a small shake of her head.

“No,” she decided. “He’ll be alright. Just give him some time.”

Dylan shrugged his shoulders and continued to eat his lunch, but I wanted to go after him. I made my way to go after him, but Alessa caught my arm.

“Really,” she assured me. “He’ll be okay.”

I sighed, but sat back down. I spent the rest of lunch getting to know Alessa and Dylan. Alessa asked me question after question, and Dylan chimed in a few times as I answered. But, my attention was not really on the conversation.

It was like that for the rest of the day. I could not focus in any of my classes. Questions kept running through my head. Was Liam okay? Where did he go? Why did he run out? And most of all, was it my fault?

English could not have come soon enough. As soon as the bell to end chemistry sounded, I rushed to Mr. Daines’ room. I took my seat in the middle and watched the door, hoping Liam would walk through.

A few moments later Dylan, and then Alessa, walked into the classroom. I could see the worried expression on her face. One I am sure mimicked my own.

“Have you seen him?” I asked her.

She just shook her head and I sighed. The class started to fill up, and even Mr. Daines, who I now knew was Liam’s father, had entered the room. I wanted to go up to him and ask him if he knew what was wrong with Liam, but I thought better of it.

The bell rang and there was still no sign of Liam. Now I was really worried. Where could he be? I leaned back in my seat and began to tug on my hair, a nervous habit I had yet to break.

Mr. Daines had just started to speak when the door to the classroom opened, and in walked Liam. I immediately sat up in my seat. He quietly closed the door and made his way to his seat next to me. He looked at me and gave me a small smile, which made my stomach flip and made me want to slap him all at once.

“Liam!” Alessa whisper-shouted. “You asshole. Where have you been? You had us worried!”

“Sorry,” he mumbled. “I wasn’t feeling well, so I, uh, stayed in the nurses office for a while. I’m alright now.”

Alessa narrowed her eyes, but seemed to accept his answer. I was not completely buying it. Something else was going on.

Mr. Daines cleared his throat and we turned our attention back to him.

“As I was saying,” he began. “I usually don’t give out this assignment until next semester, but I believe this class is advanced enough to accomplish it this semester.”

There was a collective groan from the class.

“Your assignment will be to read, discuss, and write a paper on a Shakespearean play of your choice. The assignment will not be due until the end of the semester, but I implore you to get a head start. You don’t want to have to do the whole assignment the week before. Now, I have already chosen your partners for this assignment.”

I held my breath at that. Would he pair me with Liam? Could I be that lucky?

“Alright,” he continued. “The partners are as follows…

Jake and Sarah,

Sam and Mike,

Alessa and Dylan.”

There was a groan from behind me and I heard Alessa mumble a curse.

“Liam and Will.”

At the sound of our names I swear my heart stopped. Did I hear that right? I looked over at Liam, hoping to see that sexy smile of his, but his expression was unreadable. My mood immediately dropped. He was not excited. Shit.

The rest of class went by in a blur. I spent the whole time wondering why he was so upset. By the time the bell had rung, I had decided that I was going to go up to him and talk to him about the project.

To my surprise, Liam rushed out of class. I followed after him. He went straight for his locker, which was conveniently only a few down from mine. I walked up beside him and made to put my hand on his shoulder, but he turned towards me before I could.

“Oh,” I started, a bit surprised. “I was, uh, wondering if you wanted to come to my place after school on Friday to get a head start on the project.”

He looked at me blankly for a few seconds, and I could feel my hopes falling even further. But suddenly, a small smile spread across his lips.

“Uh, sure,” he mumbled. “Sounds good.”

I wanted to scream on the inside. I was a little shocked that he actually agreed, and it took me a second to actually respond.

“Cool. So, um, I’ll see you tomorrow,” I told him. Why am I so lame?

“Yeah . See you tomorrow.”

I smiled and walked away from his locker. I looked back real quick before I went downstairs and caught him staring at me. I smiled at him and then made my way out of the school.

The entire walk home, I could only think about Friday. I did not know what was going to happen, but I was damn sure something was going to happen.
