~ A final word from the Author ~
Writing this story has been an unexpected pleasure. The original idea was to write a short story (no more than a few chapters) about a monastery full of perverse monks who indulged in the most sinful sodomitical acts; and Shay had to be the male version of Justine, the pure and innocent main character of De Sade’s novel. But, as you can tell yourself, the story immediately took another direction, the monastery became the Asylum, that soon got populated with many charming and interesting characters, living a life without prejudices and sense of guilt, exploring Love in all its many facets and following the path of the Holy Fountain.
I want to heartily thank all the readers, both those who cast a vote and gave me their feedback and those who silently enjoyed my weekly chapter and came back the next week for more. A special mention, along with a deep gratitude, goes to Butch and Geoffrey Fox, who took their time to write a comment for each and every chapter; and also to Rob Tucker who, with his emails, gave me a lot of inputs and made me focus on aspects of the story that were likely to be overlooked.
But enough with the chit-chat: you’re here to meet the Cousinhood, and I’m more than glad to introduce them to you. I refrained from showing their images earlier, for a simple reason: each of us, while reading (or writing) a story, creates in his mind a personal visualization of the characters, and I didn’t want to force readers to adhere to my own visualization, I wanted them to use their own fantasy. I did introduce each chapter with an image, but in most cases it was nothing more than a suggestive image somewhat related to the chapter.
Here are the images (not in a specific order) of all the monks and the main guest characters of the story, along with a memorable quote from them and links to the most memorable scenes they’re involved into. Please keep in mind that these images are just my personal mental image of the characters.
