The desert twilight had just begun to settle over Palm Springs, throwing long pink shadows across the pool. Martin and Daniel, partners for twenty five years and husbands for ten of them, sat on their sun-warmed patio with martinis in hand. Their home, with its clean mid-century lines and glass walls, had seen more than a few memorable soirées. But this year’s occasion felt bigger, heavier with meaning.

“Twenty five years,” Daniel said, raising his glass. “That’s not just an anniversary—it’s practically a dynasty.”

Martin chuckled. “So the party has to be…?”

“Legendary.”

They both fell into a comfortable silence, watching the pool lights flicker on. The truth was, they had thrown plenty of parties. Chic cocktail evenings, retro costume affairs, even a black-tie dinner that everyone swore was the best of the season. But this time, they wanted something that felt not only celebratory but fun—something with just the right amount of mischief.

“What if we made it pool-centered?” Martin said at last. “Palm Springs in late September is hot enough. We could lean into the idea.”

Daniel tilted his head, a grin tugging at the corner of his mouth. “Poolside cocktails, floating lanterns, good music… And instead of tuxedoed cater-waiters?”

“Speedos.”

They both burst out laughing, but the idea didn’t fade. If anything, it grew stronger, shimmering like a mirage. Attractive young men in bright swim briefs, serving champagne and tending bar, the pool glittering behind them. Cheeky, yes, but Palm Springs always had room for cheeks, especially those of attractive young men.

“It would be a statement,” Daniel said, savoring the thought. “Playful, sexy, but still classy if we do it right. The kind of thing people will talk about for years.”

“And let’s be honest,” Martin added with a sly glance, “we’d have a blast interviewing the… candidates.”

The idea was beginning to take shape. A theme equal parts glamour and fun, tailored perfectly to the couple’s reputation for daring but tasteful entertaining.

Later that evening, the martinis gave way to laptops. Daniel sat cross-legged on the sofa with a legal pad, jotting phrases while Martin tapped at the keyboard.

“We need tone,” Daniel said. “Something breezy. It has to sound like we’re hosting the most fabulous event of the season, not running a casting call.”

“Right,” Martin agreed. “But we also have to be clear about… expectations.”

After several false starts—one too formal, one too camp—they found their rhythm.

Draft Post:

🌴✨ Palm Springs Anniversary Bash – Staff Needed ✨🌴

We’re hosting a private 25th anniversary celebration at a mid-century modern home in Palm Springs next month. We’re looking for a small team of energetic, fit, and friendly guys to help bring the night to life. Roles include:

  • 🍸 Bartenders (craft a killer cocktail and keep the energy flowing)
  • 🍴 Food servers (tray service around the pool and patio)
  • 🏊 Pool attendants (yes, think “classic pool boy host” vibes)

This isn’t your typical black-tie gig—we’re planning a playful, retro-glam evening, and our staff should match the spirit. Ideal candidates are:

✔️ Youthful, outgoing, confident
✔️ Comfortable in the spotlight (and in minimal attire—think swim briefs, not aprons)
✔️ Professional, reliable, and ready to keep the mood fun and lighthearted

Compensation is generous, and so are the compliments. 😉

If you’re interested, please reply with a photo and a brief note about your event or hospitality experience.

Daniel leaned back, reading it aloud with mock gravitas. “‘Professional, reliable, and ready to keep the mood fun.’ Honestly, that could describe us after two glasses of champagne.”

Martin chuckled. “Now, the real question: which picture do we use? A stock shot of a poolside cocktail tray… or one of those retro postcards of lifeguards in short shorts?”

“Neither,” Daniel said, tapping his pen. “We want something tasteful, but suggestive enough to give them the idea. A clean shot of the pool at dusk, lanterns floating… then let the line about ‘swim briefs’ do the heavy lifting.”

Martin grinned. “Cheeky, subtle, and slightly wicked. Perfect.”
