Sunday evening Matty went back to his, and I finished off some washing, put on Taylor Swift’s “I Knew You” and poured myself a large glass of white.
We arranged to see each other on Friday evening, just like the last three weeks.
Mum had cancelled Sunday dinner as Dad had an upset stomach.
I called Mum and had a chat, told her a bit more about Matty and invited us both to Sunday lunch or Bruch next Sunday.
Life was good.
Life was better than it had been in ages.
Monday at 8:15, when I walked in, I remembered it was interview day for my old position.
Dylan and I were conducting the interviews this morning, staggered from 11:30, allowing an hour for each applicant and half an hour to discuss our thoughts.
Sharon Brogan from HR would be taking notes.(Did not like her, right cow).
Dylan knocked on my open office door at 10:00:, He had just finished his Monday meeting with Angela and some department heads. “Fancy a Coffee and a catch-up?”
“Sure”
“Call in for me when you're ready, Dylan”
“Great,” he replied.
With that, Rachel walked in and mimicked me: “Call in for me when you're ready”
“Sssh,” I laughed. “When are we having lunch? I wanna catch up about your weekend antics, plus I have my own news to tell you.
“Umm, I looked at my schedule. How about Wed?”
“Well, if I’m not that important, she laughed”
“Sorry Rachel, I am fully booked hun”
“No worries, she came over to me, and it was then I noticed she was glowing and was wearing a new shorter skirt showing off her amazing legs.
“Rachael, you are looking Smooth and hot, baby”
“I know,” she smiled, and walked out and sat at her desk.
Dylan called in for me, and we waited for the lift.
He smelt good. He looked better than ever. Pristine Black suit, tailored; it was tight where it should be. I noticed shiny black loafers today that looked so immaculate they must be new.
His powerful long legs that went on forever, leading to the bulge that I had been daydreaming about over the weekend.
Once in the lift, there we were alone.
I said nothing, nothing until he said something out of character.
“I miss you at the weekends”
I looked at him; he was staring right at me
I stared right back. I don’t know where I found the strength to ask, but replied: “In what way?”
“Lots of ways”
I didn’t know what to say, so I just smiled.
He smiled too and put his hand on my shoulder and gripped me in a friendly manner.
I got a table, and he came over with two coffees. He sat opposite me, close enough to smell his aftershave and shampoo. Knees occasionally touching.
“Just a few things to go through.” Thank God, I thought, we’re talking about work. Course we are, don’t be so silly, I said to myself. Married, straight with children. Get over yourself.
So, Interviews. Here are the three letters of application with their CVs.
It would be nice, I thought, if we chose someone Rachel’s age, but out of the three, two women were in their late 40s and one early fifties, and the other a guy just two years my junior.
“The other thing is we need to go to the New York Office Monday week for a few days. That okay with your schedule?”
“Yes, sure, “ I immediately started beaming, trying to hide it.
I don’t know how long it had been since I worshiped his socked feet; probably two weeks, but hopefully this would be a great opportunity.
What specifically are we going for, Dylan, so I can read up on it?
Well, two clients- two very important clients that I sealed a deal with a few years back will only deal with me. They want to introduce me to some new clients. Tough job, but it’s going to be a lot of wine and dining, blowing smoke up their asses. Trust me, I do it all the time. Get them on side, then were look at the figures back at the New York office. “Oh right.” A lot of small talk and looking interested when they are talking about their lives, but it’s all part of the job to win them over. If its benifical to the bank, of which I am sure, we could be looking at potentially millions of US dollars.
Wow. I know. The two clients are huge investors in a huge AI company that’s just gone public. Their stock is worth far more than that!
“Wow, you sure you want me there with you and someone not more experienced?”
Dylan looked at me. His face looked very serious. “Jake, you are my new right-hand man in more ways than one. They will only ever deal with me, and I want you there. You are charming, professional, and smart.
You will help me to relax after hours of boring conversation, keeping me company, and your analytical head will be needed to help keep me on the ball and grounded.
“Exciting, can’t wait!’ I replied.
“Well, I am looking forward to getting my feet serviced two nights in a row!”
My cock instantly had a rush of blood to it, like a train flying into the station.
I winked and quietly replied, “It would be a pleasure, sir”
“Good, didn’t think I’d have to twist your arm. Dylan reached into his wallet and gave me my very own company credit card. This is for expenses, but spend it wisely. You will have to fill in a spreadsheet for every penny spent.
After the interviews, go to this tailor in town and tell him I sent you. I want them fitted like mine, and you can go up to 1K per suit. Oh, and buy some new shoes too and a couple of new ties.
Two shirts, max £100 per shirt, designer dress socks. We really have to impress these clients.
Fuk, I thought. This is the real deal.
Rachel will email us the flight times.
“Fine by me, Dylan”
“Great, oh and it’s British Airways business class so it’s suited as we are representing the bank”
I tried to walk casually back to the lift, but my head was all over the place.
New suits, Business class, Dylan’s socks and company. For two consecutive nights, multimillion-pound deal. WTF. Just go with it, Jake. Go with it.
We interviewed the three candidates and decided on Laura.
She is the eldest and the most experienced and the warmest person. She shone way ahead of the other two and starts in four weeks.
As instructed, I went to this designer store in town. I chose two Hugo Boss suits, one navy and one black, and was measured everywhere to ensure I looked the business. I was to collect on Thursday afternoon and have another fitting.
Thursday came and the two shirts, one navy and one black to contrast the suits, were also altered and everything looked great once tried on.
I definitely could not afford to put any weight on, but they made me look the business. The shoes fitted like a glove.
On Friday am we had the tickets and boarding passes printed and flight times.
We would be sharing the taxi.
