To my right I saw a sign that ‘Washington Square’. It was a park. The green grass and the beautiful large trees were a welcome change from walking alongside the road. I walked in. At 56 degrees (13 Celsius), cloudy but dry, today had been a pleasant day to walk around this new city and explore. It was starting to feel like winter was coming to an end, but I still wore my nice, warm coat.

I passed several beautiful, historic buildings and paused to look at them. What a beautiful park. I came out the other end and immediately saw the large, modern building. The city library. I smiled. I’d always had a thing for libraries.

I was teaching a seminar on hypnosis in Salt Lake City tomorrow. A car would pick me up in the morning, but after settling down in my hotel, I wanted nothing more than to just walk out and take a look at the city. I had never been here before and I wasn’t going to let this opportunity pass me by. My flight home was going to be the morning after the seminar, so I knew this would pretty much be my only opportunity.

I walked into the library and immediately I felt at ease. I couldn’t help but smile. Rows and rows of books. I walked further in and let my eyes go over the categories of each row. As I glanced into each aisle, there was no-one there. There were people sitting behind computers further back, presumably students. Also there were a few people who were clearly staff. That was about it.

The silence was something I reveled in. The smell of books made me happy. I wandered into one of the aisles and let my hand go against the backs of some books. The word ‘hypnosis’ suddenly caught my eye. There was a whole subsection. I smiled and took out one of the books.

I was scanning through it as suddenly I noticed to my left someone else had appeared. At first I just glanced but once I saw his face I had to see more. His dark, scruffy facial hair, his beautiful, brooding eyes and the casual cap. His loose T-shirt tried and failed to obscure a muscular upper body with a wide chest and strong arms. He wasn’t specifically tall, but very well-built. Like a small, Asian fireplug.

He was carrying a book, wearing wireless earphones, and didn’t even look my way. I was pretty much unashamedly staring. I didn’t think he was a student or staff. He was like me. He just liked books. The old-fashioned way.

He noticed me looking at him. I smiled. He nodded awkwardly and wanted to continue walking. Then he noticed the book cover and I saw a smile appear on his face. He took out one earphone.

“Hypnosis?”, he asked me, pointing at the book.

I nodded. His bushy eyebrows raised.

“Do you… believe in it?”

I smiled.

“I have to, it’s my job”, I said, “I’m a hypnotist.”

He smiled wide.

“Shut up!”

He was so charming, even while he was questioning if my job was real.

“No seriously”, I said, “I’m teaching a seminar tomorrow at the University of Utah.”

He looked at me with a puzzled look.

“Did someone ever try to hypnotize you?”, I asked.

He shook his head.

“No.”

“Can I?”

He hesitated.

“I’ll allow you to try, I guess.”

I smiled.

“Cool.”

“So what’s your name?”

“Howard.”

“Hey Howard, I’m Mark”, I said as I extended my hand.

His hand came in to shake mine and I gave him a firm handshake.

“Look into my eyes”, I said friendly but firmly.

Instantly when our eyes locked, I knew this was going to be easy.

“Take a deep breath in, breathing in calmness and relaxation….”

I continued to shake his hand, my grip slowly loosening. I could feel the loss of tension in his arm.

“And breathe out, breathing out all of your worries and stress.”

His face was starting to relax, his eyes were starting to close. I smiled. As much of a cynic as he was, he may be one of the easiest to hypnotize throughout my career.

“Feel the wave of relaxation starting from the top of your head, over your eyes, and mouth…”

His eyelids fluttered and his mouth slowly dropped open.

“Over your neck and shoulders, your chest and arms…”

His head was starting to fall forward and his hand and arm were now completely limp as I slowly swayed it back and forth. I heard a bang as I noticed he had dropped the book I forgot he was holding.

“All the way down your stomach and legs.”

The second I’d said the word ‘legs’, his knees buckled. His eyes rolled up and his mouth dropped all the way open and before I knew it, he was falling forward, right towards me. His face fell into my chest as his knees dropped to the floor. I was able to catch him underneath his arms as he awkwardly dangled right in front of me. His cap had fallen off onto the floor.

This guy was one of the most highly suggestible subjects I had ever experienced.

“That’s right, sleeeeeep. Deeper and deeper. Feeling so good and so relaxed.”

As I held Howard up, I realized we were in a public place and I needed to wake him up immediately.

“Now in a second, I’m going to wake you up. When I do, know that whenever I snap my fingers and say ‘sleep’, you’re going right back to this relaxed state you are in right now. But for now I am going to count you up in 5... 4… 3… 2… 1! Eyes open, wide awake!”

Howard blinked a few times before he could really open his eyes. He looked around like he didn’t immediately know where he was.

“W-what happened?”

“I hypnotized you, only for a second.”

With a confused look on his face, he picked up his cap from the floor and stood back up.

“OK…”, he said.

I smiled. I crouched down to pick up the book he was carrying and handed it to him.

“Did you enjoy being hypnotized?”, I asked.

He looked at me.

“Uhmm. Yeah. It was weird, but nice.”

I felt so happy.

An idea entered my mind.

“H-Hey Howard… would you like to be my volunteer subject for the seminar tomorrow? It would mean a lot.”

It would take up so much time to get someone from the audience and find the person who seemed the most suggestible. Also that person would then not be able to follow the seminar in the same way. I probably had the most suggestible guy in all of Utah right here.

I saw him thinking.

“What would that entail?”

“Want to discuss it over a cup of coffee?”

He hesitated. He looked at his watch.

“Uhmm. Yeah, sure. Why not”, he shrugged.

“Cool.”

Howard took me to Cytybyrd Café which was located in one of the historic buildings I had just passed. I explained to him what he would have to do and how much time it would cost. I said I was willing to compensate any travel costs.

“Yeah, that would be fine.”

I could tell he was coming out of trance.

“I think I actually enjoyed it. Now that I’m starting to wake up more, I just remember feeling really good and so… rested.”

“That’s what hypnosis is all about”, I said.

“Is it? I thought it was about making people do things they don’t wanna do.”

I chuckled.

“That’s what it is in the movies. And it is true that with hypnosis it’s easier to access someone’s subconscious. Yet hypnotized people still won’t do things they don’t want do while they’re hypnotized.”

Howard nodded. He seemed genuinely interested, wanting to know more about the level of control a hypnotist has over their subject. And also, he was now convinced hypnosis was real.

The next day, he arrived right on time. This time he was wearing black glasses with a thick rim and a tight white T-shirt. He looked amazing. When I shook his hand, I could tell he was ready to drop.

“I suddenly remembered what happened last time”, he said, chuckling.

I told him how the day was going to go and what I expected of him, and he seemed pretty much game. After his cynicism from the day before, I was surprised. When we drank a cup of coffee just before the seminar was going to start, he even said, “I’m excited.”

“You are? Not nervous?”

“No, I enjoyed it a lot yesterday, I’m looking forward to it.”

“Oh good, I’m glad to hear.”

The seminar began and Howard took a seat in the front row so I could do my intro. My intro was mainly about uses for hypnosis in past and present when it comes psychology and psychotherapy. But I knew most people here showed up to see someone get hypnotized.

I introduced Howard to the audience. He waved and smiled, seemingly comfortable. I had him sit down in a chair. I told the audience that I had met Howard the day before and had noticed he was highly suggestible.

“And when you have someone who’s highly suggestible and you already hypnotized them before, it’s as easy as a snap of the finger.”

I snapped my fingers.

“Sleep!”

Howard’s mouth dropped open as his eyes rolled up completely, his entire body fell back into the chair, his head dangling over the backrest. The audience gasped and then laughed.

“Unfortunately, it isn’t so easy with everyone and especially not a first time.”

I woke Howard back up and used him to show off several induction techniques. With each induction I used on him, he went deeper and deeper and it became so much harder for him to come back up when I told him to. He was feeling very good and relaxed and was clearly enjoying this feeling.

I was so happy I had asked him to volunteer for this seminar, he was doing great. He was a formidable subject, very obedient to my suggestions, but his body went so limp each time, that it created a shock effect for the audience. The odds of me finding someone like that from the audience were very small.

When the seminar ended, I thanked Howard profusely. I offered to take him out for dinner. I saw him hesitate.

“I need to work tonight”, he said, “will you still be here tomorrow?”

“I have an early flight I’m afraid”, I replied.

He smiled. I smiled back. We looked at each other in silence.

“What?”

I chuckled nervously.

“You make me feel… so good. I need to have more. I know there’s more you can do to me.”

“What do you mean?”

“Mark, you’re… You’re an attractive guy. I…am aroused by the idea of you controlling me.”

I raised an eyebrow. I had not seen this coming. I did not know he was attracted to men, let alone to me. And now he was saying hypnosis was turning him on! Was he proposing we do some erotic hypno play? Because I would be in favor.

“Wait, so what are you saing?”, I asked.

“What if I call in sick… I’ll have dinner with you, but only if afterwards we can have some fun.”

My eyes must have gone so wide. This day had taken quite the sudden turn.

“Well? What do you say? I hope I’m not being too forward.”

“No! No, not at all! I would absolutely love that!”

Over dinner I asked Howard what he would want to do, and I felt quite naughty to discuss this in a restaurant. His beautiful dark eyes stared at me with a sexual chemistry that sometimes made me shiver. This guy was way more intense than I had anticipated, but all in such a good way.

We went back to my hotel room. I had Howard sit down on a chair that was by the desk. First I had to take him really deep. I figured this would be easier than usual. I let him focus on his breathing. I let him focus on relaxing each part of his body.

Slowly but steadily I could tell he was going deeper and deeper. His breathing got so slow and shallow. His arms dangled by his sides. His eyes were rolled up and then closed completely. His mouth kept opening further as his jaw relaxed. A trail of drool started to roll down his chin and soon dripped down onto his chest.

“You are walking down a spiral staircase. And with each step you take you go deeper and deeper down. It’s a long staircase. But you keep walking. As tired as you are, you have to continue down to find out what’s on that ground floor.”

I kept going like this for a while until I knew he was so very deep down.

“And finally you are reaching that ground floor. But all you see is emptiness. There is nothing there. Just like in your mind right now. Your mind is completely empty. No thoughts, no worries. No memories, no awareness. Right now I am in control of your mind. And I am in control of your body.”

I could have sworn I saw the crotch of Howard’s jeans get fuller. He was loving this.

“You are loving giving up control. There’s no need to think for a while.”

Howard moaned. Drool kept coming down his chin.

“Now if I decide that your left hand is in the air, your left hand goes up into the air. Imagine I have tied a little string around your wrist and I’m just pulling it up.”

Howard’s left hand went up into the air.

“There’s nothing you can do about this. I am in control.”

After letting Howard sit like this for a while, I dropped his arm back down, which made him go even deeper into hypnosis.

“Do you like that I am in control?”, I asked.

Slowly, he nodded his head.

“Does it excite you?”

He nodded again.

“Does it make you want to touch yourself?”

Once again he nodded yes.

“But you know you can’t. Because I am in control of your body.”

Howard moaned again, slightly harder this time.

“Now you can feel my hand across your body”, I said, even though I sat on the bed, about three feet away.

“It’s touching your chest, and playing with your nipples.”

Howard gasped and then moaned some more.

“Do you like it when I do that, Howard?”

He nodded.

“Do you like it when my hand goes further down, Howard?”

He moaned and nodded again.

“What if my hand were to play with your ass, would you enjoy that?”

His moans now got a little desperate as again he nodded.

“Can you feel my finger circling your hole?”

“Hmmmmmmmm… ohhhhh……”

This sounded a lot like an orgasm. Howard’s jeans tented obscenely. A wet spot had formed in the crotch. He hadn’t touched himself. It only took some suggestions from me. Howard was right. This was very hot.

I played with him a little longer and then decided to bring him back up. I counted him up from 5 and it was clear he had been deeply under as it took him a while to fully wake up.

“Oh wow… I… I came.”

I chuckled.

“I don’t even really remember what happened!”, he said, incredulously.

“You were pretty mindless. All you did was moan and nod every now and then.”

“Wow, that’s… that’s so hot. And you were controlling me the entire time?”

“I definitely was!”

“Wow…”, he said for the third time.

Admittedly, it was the weirdest one night stand I’d ever had. Howard and I exchanged information and promised to have another similar session over Skype. The next morning I flew back to Miami and all I could think about was Howard.
