Heaven’s Eyes Only

Leighton watched him ride away. He smiled to himself and shook his head. There was an air of pride and confidence in himself. He’d finally met the prince, and he could say without a doubt that the man was gorgeous. He turned and began to walk down the hill, continuing to explore the Island. The sound of a distant, soft thudding filled the air. It was like a muffled drum somewhere against the earth.

Leighton stopped walking and stood still. His eyes searched the sky, only to find seagulls flying above. The sound of the muffled drums turned into a clear and crisp clop-clop on the surface. There was no mistaking the sound of the hoofbeats.

Leighton spun around to find the prince riding back up on his horse. A small smile formed in the right corner of his mouth. He hadn’t expected to see him again so soon. He couldn’t even understand why he was excited to see him. Leighton watched as the prince pulled the reins. The veins and muscles in those arms flexed under the smooth skin.

In a calm but firm voice, Zephyr gave the verbal cue, “Whoa!”

As the horse came to a halt, Leighton yelled out, “Back so soon, are we?”

“Put your number in there,” Zephyr told him as he tossed his cell phone at him. “I’ll give you the inside scoop on all things royal.”

Leighton caught the phone. He glanced up at him. “The prince himself wants to give little old me the scoop? Why? I am not that important.”

“Maybe not,” the prince said with a smile. “Maybe your brother would like to be informed of what he is getting himself into.”

The sun had captured the prince on the horse just right. His skin illuminated like a chocolate god. How could Leighton resist the request of such a man? Why was he feeling such tingling for a man? Those were questions that he’d have to answer later.

“Rude much? You could have said that better,” he said as he put his name and number in the phone.

“Please,” Zephyr said as he teased the s. The word practically vibrated off his tongue.

The Prince watched Leighton plug in his digits. He wasn’t sure what it was about him, but something just grabbed hold of his attention. He’d never looked at someone before and felt so pressed to know him. He wanted to know Leighton and show him the world that lay waiting in Majestica.

“Well, since you asked nicely,” he responded as he handed the phone back.

Zephyr offered a warm and friendly smile, which was contagious because it made Leighton smile. A simple exchange powered parts of them that neither ever knew existed. The feelings were new, but neither one was running away from the pull they felt. Instead, they were embracing the sparks. It was richly rewarding.

“Well, I guess I could show you around now,” Zephyr said to him. “Give me your hand!” Zephyr held his hand out.

As Leighton stared at the prince’s hand, he said playfully, “I wish not to regret this moment. Don’t kill us!”

“Never,” the Prince said. He said it so casually and so smoothly. The word just flowed out of his mouth with all the charm and swagger. The slow burn of a gay man effectively seducing a straight man had begun.

“What about your earlier call on your mobile device?” Leighton asked with a raised eyebrow.

Zephyr blew his breath and told him, “I’m not bothered by that. No one tells me what to do. I answer to no one. Now, are you coming?”

“I thought you answered to your King,” Leighton asked with his eyebrow raised. The look on his face said he was teasing. He wanted to see just how far he could push the prince.

“Well, he doesn’t count. Not entirely,” Zephyr answered.

Leighton looked around for a moment. There was no doubt in his mind about what he was going to do. He took Zephyr’s hand. Leighton climbed onto the back of the horse. He got a good whiff of the prince’s scent. It was as if a tonka bean and patchouli had blended together and created the most enchanting smell ever.

Zephyr glanced back and said, “Hold on tight.”

Leighton hugged him tighter. Their bodies drew closer together. The tiny space between them vanished. Leighton was pressed directly against the prince’s backside. Zephyr could almost feel Leighton’s heart beating against his back. He smirked to himself.

“Giddy up,” he commanded the horse.

The horse raced up the mountainside with the two of them. The wind blew through their hair and against their faces. The lush green trees seemed to sway as they moved. The horse bent the corner, and suddenly, there were no trees. Leighton gasped at the enchanting sight before his eyes.

The sky was the purest blue, and the clouds were the cleanest white he had ever seen. He could see the city, and it was spectacular. In the distance was a tall tower with a star at the top. The tower was made out of ivory-colored seashells.

“What is that tall tower?” Leighton asked.

Zephyr proudly told him, “That’s King Tower. It was built by the very first king of Majestica so that our people could see our enemies coming from near and far.”

“Like a watch tower?” Leighton asked.

Zephyr nodded, “Yes, and a lighthouse as well. Duck!”

Leighton quickly looked just as he was almost hit in the head by a low-hanging branch. They were suddenly deep in the lush green forest of Majestica. As they raced through the green trees, Leighton could hear and see animals running through the trees. It was both terrifying and exhilarating. He held on tighter to Zephyr.

The horse leaped, and they went through a few bushes. They came out of the forest and were on the other side of the mountain. Leighton saw Mount Solstice, and it took his breath away. He had heard stories and seen a few pictures online of the breathtaking volcano. She was the largest active volcano in the world.  It looked like something out of a movie, only it was real.

“This is INCREDIBLE,” Leighton shouted. He felt equal parts fear and joy. Those feelings made it all worthwhile.

“You haven’t seen anything yet,” Zephyr told him. You could hear the joy in his voice as he spoke. The prince loved the idea of showing off his country to the stranger from across the ocean.

Leighton asked, “Is it true that the royal palace is built around the base of the volcano?”

“Yes,” he answered, never taking his eyes off what was in front of him. The scene of nature was far too beautiful not to be seen.

Leighton exclaimed, “That’s utterly insane yet highly fascinating.”

Zephyr chuckled lightly, “What can I say? Us Majesticans are insanely gifted.”

“I’d say,” Leighton said with a bright smile on his face. He wrapped his arms tighter around the man’s waist. For a second that felt like an hour, he felt some sort of spark.

They finally came to a stop near the cliffside. Both men hopped down off the horse. Leighton looked around. There was nothing but green grass for miles and miles. Zephyr walked toward the edge and instructed Leighton to follow him. Leighton exhaled and followed. His eyes scanned everything around them. He took in every detail of the world around him.

“Where are we?” Leighton asked him as he took in the beauty around them.

“We call this place The Eye of Heaven,” he said as he pointed out beyond the sea.

Leighton stood next to him and looked out beyond the distance. His heart skipped a beat at the sight. The blue waters of the South Pacific and the reflection of the sun stretched beyond the horizon. Majestica was made up of a cluster of islands: ten small islands and the main big island. From where they stood, they could see most of the islands that circled the main island. The clouds were the whitest, and the sky was the bluest Leighton had ever seen.

Zephyr triumphantly said, “We are on the main island. All the other islands form a perfect circle around this one. From here is where the fifth king in our history prayed to see a way to victory during the Great War. Legend has it he saw into heaven and was given the answers to win.”

Leighton’s eyes sparkled. He was filled with awe. “It’s so incredible. Do people not come up here?”

“Tourists would come and pollute. My family cares deeply for the environment, and despite our differing ways, it’s the one thing we all agree on. King Ramiel, with the royal court’s support, cut off access. No one is allowed up here.”

Leighton huffed and said, “Seems a little harsh. Surely, there has to be a better way to protect it and allow people to see such a wonder.”

“How would you know?” Zephyr questioned. “You know nothing about our nation, the pride, and the strides our people have made.”

“You’re right. I do not,’ he confessed. “I do know when a government is overreaching, and cutting off access to the people of this nation’s history is an overreach.”

Angrily, Zephyr defended his family’s actions, “Of course you would. You come in here from your Western World civilization, and within minutes, you think you know better than the people born here who have been sworn to protect this nation and its inhabitants.”

Leighton threw up his hands. “I am not trying to start a war or anything. I am just offering an opinion.”

“Well, no one asked you, Leighton Hawthrone!” The anger in Zephyr’s voice rumbled through the trees.

“I asked me,” Leighton shouted. He was passionate about government overreach. He felt the world deserved to be seen and not regulated.

Zephyr shouted back, “What you say does not matter here! You are an outsider. It would do you wise to remember your place.”

Leighton stared Zephyr down. He couldn’t understand how they were suddenly arguing. Zephyr puffed his chest and stared back into Leighton’s eyes. The wind stopped blowing around them, and everything became quiet and still. Zephyr’s eyes slowly dropped from Leighton’s eyes down to his chest. The slow rise and fall of the man’s chest triggered something inside of him. He suddenly felt flushed.

Leighton studied him for a moment. His eyes slowly cascaded over the prince’s body like water falling from the sky. He took in those dark chocolate features. There was something about those pink, moist lips that called out to Leighton. All his years of being a man who devoured women went out the window. He wanted to consume the man who was standing in front of him. The thought of doing something so bold, erotic, and queer made Leighton terrified.

“I should leave,” Leighton said as he stepped away.

He turned to walk away. Zephyr grabbed hold of his hand. The moment they touched, electricity flowed through their bodies. Leighton snapped his head back around at Zephyr. There was a deep look of longing in both their eyes. It was apparent that neither one of them truly understood what was happening between them.

“Why are you holding me like this?” Leighton asked nervously. He felt the spark traveling up the length of his arm toward his heart.

“Like what?” Zephyr asked, almost teasing, the man. He was fully aware of his actions.

Leighton inhaled and exhaled, “Like we are passengers about to collide in the heat of the night.”

“Would that be so bad?” The prince asked. “It’s just a night, right?”

“A night that would surely change the trajectory of our lives,” he answered. “Such things can be dangerous. Can they not?”

Zephyr asked, “Dangerous for whom? For You? For me? For the world? We are two nobodies to them. We should be able to crash if we want. Do you want to crash with me?” His voice was low, dry, and desperate. He was desperate to feel the pull for all it was worth.

Leighton shook his head. “You know not what you ask. There are some lines that must never be crossed.” A tremble registered in his voice. He was terrified of the spark.

Zephyr smiled at him. “That is the thing about life. It gives you lines so that you can cross them boldly, courageously, and triumphantly. Cross the line for just one second and feel this with me.”

“I am not my brother,” Leighton whispered. “I am not queer. I adore women. I lay with them and they with me.”

“I am sure they will continue to lay with you, but as for right now, I do not wish to hear of them. I simply wish to taste you fully on my lips.”

Zephyr moved closer to him. His heart raced faster than he’d ever felt it race before. Leighton’s gorgeous eyes lit up with excitement. He’d never felt what he was feeling in his core before. It felt like everything slowed down as their lips inched closer together. Just as their lips were about to touch, they paused.

Then it happened! The two men kissed. It was experimental and different. It was strange, maybe even awkward. Despite that, it was beautiful. It was everything they both searched for in life and never found.

Passion!

Tenderness!

Belonging!

Power!

They pulled away. Both men touched their lips briefly. They felt them to see if they were still there. Leighton felt a burn so slow and powerful on his lips. They grabbed hold of each other and began to kiss again. The wind suddenly began to blow like heaven's air. Their bodies ran hot as their tongues danced in each other’s mouths. Their hands roamed and explored each other. No muscle was off-limits as they gave in to their exploration! They kissed with all the passion in the world under heaven’s eyes, and it felt right! Zephyr’s hand quickly ran down Leighton’s backside.

Leighton’s body developed chills. He bit the bottom of the prince’s fat lip and pulled it into his mouth. As he sucked on it, Zephyr’s hand ran over his pert buttocks. The prince cuffed those cheeks and began to massage them. Leighton moaned in Zephyr’s mouth. He pressed his throbbing erection directly against Zephyr’s length and grind their privates together.

Leighton tossed his head up toward the sky. Zephyr rolled his long and thick tongue across the man’s smooth, vanilla-skinned neck. Leighton gasped as his cock released a steady flow of semen into his underwear. Zephyr smiled knowingly into the clouds. There was no way he was ready to be done with Leighton. Things between them were simply just getting started. Because once a prince finds his passion in life, he can never truly let it go. No, he must conquer it!
