Jason Proctor was enjoying the offseason with his family and friends. The weather was perfect for a barbeque but they all sat down to watch the United Hockey League’s draft.

The GM then first off apologizes for interrupting him on his summer break and then says to Jace, “there is a kid out of Sarnia that has heated it up in the minor leagues and while the scouts say this kid is a natural talent, I just want your take on him before we draft him.”
Jase responds back, “come on Boss, this is my summer break and this is why you and the team pay the scouts for finding the best talent.”
The GM replies back, “I know Jase but I could use a veteran player’s perspective on this kid; is he the real deal or just a bust that we should pass on.”
Jase then thinks for a moment and because he has been in the league long enough he knows that up and coming players are freely traded like chattel in order to make their team rosters stronger and better for the next season and for years to come.
Jase then agrees and says to his boss, “send me the kids tape, and I’ll let you know.”
The GM replies back, “I just sent it to you but I need your decision and quick, the draft begins in couple of hours.”
Jace replies that he understands and then cuts off the call. He then goes to the kitchen where he sees his wife Mary working hard to clean up after the barbeque and she says to him, “Jesus Jase, I thought that you were going to help me out here. We have a houseful of guests here that me and the kids have been cleaning up after while you were nowhere to be seen.”

Mary replies back, “what sort of something Jace? We have a houseful of your family and friends here and you are nowhere to be found when you should be hosting them.”

Jase then immediately calls the GM back but his phoneline was busy. He then sends his boss a text message instead that states:
“This kid is the real deal”.
The GM soon replies back to Jace, “the scouts and I agree as well now enjoy the rest of your summer break and looking for seeing you back at training camp.”
Jase texts back “will do boss” as he rejoins the draft party at his house.
He then settles down on an open seat next to his wife and says “sorry babe that took so long but the boss wanted my opinion on who they may want to draft for their first round pick.”
Mary huffs a bit, “I know this means a lot to you Jace and god I’ve tried to accept it but I just want a normal family life for one.”

Jace, Mary, and the few friends and his family members that stuck around to watch the draft in its first round when the commissioner of the league announces, “for their first draft pick, the Fort Worth Ranchers choose Timothy Treacher of the Sarnia Wasps.”
Jace then sees that the young man that he just watched game video on a less than hour ago
has been drafted by his team.
Once the draft party at Jace’s place was over, Jace then goes up to his wife who is still cleaning up the house and says to her, “you have been working all day and evening Mary so how about I take over for you getting our home back together, okay Babe?”

He wiped up tables and vacuumed up the carpets, put away all the cookware, dishes, and cutlery back to their original places as well as taking out five bags of trash to the rubbish bin so that when his wife comes downstairs the next morning their home will be spotless.
Once all the housecleaning is done, Jace then grabs a couple of beers from the fridge then returns to his private office. Once there he logs back into his computer and then rewatches the videos of the rookie Tim Treacher, the rookie that his team just drafted.
