Beyond the Veil

We spent the next day holed up in Roger’s house. Kaden spent the entire day acting like he wanted to say something to me, then changing his mind. Eventually, he went to bed first, followed by Roger shortly after.

I opened the Buffr app again and reopened a conversation I’d been having with a handsome man named Sebastian. He was a couple years older than me, twenty-four, according to him.

Sebastian: How about you meet me tonite?

Damien: Sure. Where?

Sebastian: There’s a club here in Crendace called The Scarlet Drop. You can use the GPS on your phone to find it

Sebastian: Are you really a mortal?

Damien: Yep, newly registered and everything

Sebastian: That’s so hot. Meet me at the doors at 8. See you tonite

Damien: What kind of magical creature are you? Or is it rude to ask?

He hadn’t responded to that last question. I wasn’t sure if that meant I’d been rude, or he was busy, or what. But nevertheless, I was going to The Scarlet Drop and I was going to get railed.

I knew what I was doing was reckless, but I wasn’t sure what else to do. Roger had been at work all day, so Kaden returned to his less clothes is better attitude. Seeing him walking around practically naked after having an insanely hot sex dream or hallucination or whatever was driving me crazy. If I didn’t get some dick, I was going to explode in more ways than one.

Earlier in the day, I’d raided Roger’s closet so when I snuck out of his house, following the GPS on my phone, I was wearing a tight, shiny silver shirt and a pair of tight black pants. I don’t know what kind of fabric they were made out of, but it fit me snuggly while still allowing me to move around freely.

The walk to The Scarlet Drop from Roger’s house took fifteen minutes. As I approached the club, bass music bumping through the open front door, I pulled out my phone again to look at Sebastian’s picture, not that I could forget what he looked like.

He had a strong, square jaw and an upturned nose I found very adorable. His red hair was almost unnaturally fiery, but in his pictures, he didn’t exude that glow that would lead me to think he was a fairy, though I wasn’t sure if that glow would show up in a picture. He didn’t have pointed ears, so I didn’t think he was an elf—not that I knew whether elves had pointed ears or not—so that left warlock, werewolf, or vampire.

Honestly, the more time I spent in the magical world, the more I realized I had no idea about anything.t

I spotted him immediately. He was walking toward me from the door of the club, his red hair seeming to burst into flame when one of the dancing spotlights shone on his head.

“Damien!” he said, sounding somewhat relieved. As our eyes met, I felt a swooping sensation in my stomach. “You look just like your pictures.”

“Worried I was a catfish, or whatever it’s called in the magical world?”

Sebastian smiled, his brilliant white teeth shining in the light coming from the club. No fangs, so not a vampire.

“We still call it a catfish here,” he said. “Follow me.”

“I have to admit something to you,” I said as he led me toward the door.

His face fell. “You’re not really a mortal?”

“No, no, I am,” I replied, wondering why he was so dead set on me being a mortal. Maybe it’s a kink for some people in the magical world. “It’s just that I’m not twenty-one yet.”

“Oh, that.” Sebastian chuckled. “The drinking age in the magical world is eighteen, don’t worry about it. Just don’t wander beyond the veil while you’re intoxicated.”

“I don’t even know where it’s at, so no great chance of that.”

Sebastian pointed down the road where I could see a haze I hadn’t noticed in any other part of Crendace. It was like the haze that rippled off hot asphalt in the summertime, though it was a pleasant night.

“You pass through there and you’ll end up coming out from between the bank and the dentist’s office on Dire Avenue.”

I knew the place. In fact, Dr. Peterson was my dentist when I was a child.

“So the four sides of the veil come out to different parts of the business district in Crestfall?” I asked.

Sebastian nodded. “But I don’t really want to talk about that.” He reached out with a finger and touched my chest, running it between my pecs and down my stomach, pushing it into the waistband of my pants and pulling me behind him toward the door where a fairy stood guard.

“Age?” the fairy asked me.

“Twenty,” I replied.

The fairy nodded and gestured for me to enter. Sebastian led me toward the bar behind which was an ordinary-looking woman pouring drinks. After finishing with her customer, she slid down to us.

“What’ll it be, boys?” she asked.

“Order whatever you want,” Sebastian said, “it’s on me.”

“Can I get tequila with pineapple and lime juice?” I asked.

“I’ll have a number seven and make both ours a double,” said Sebastian, holding out his card. “Keep it open for us.”

“You got it,” she said, taking his card and putting it in what looked like a box made of what looked like molten silver.

“It’s enchanted,” Sebastian said, noticing me looking at it. “So warlocks and witches can’t just summon their cards back without them being charged.”

“What’s a number seven?”

“This place does specialty cocktails,” he explained. “I’m a regular, so I know the menu pretty well.”

A moment later, the bartender returned, handing a glass to each of us. Mine was the color I expected, but Sebastians looked like liquid silver.

“Can I try it?” I asked.

“Trust me, you don’t want what’s in my cup.”

“But what exactly is—”

“Yo! Trevor!” Sebastian called out, holding up his hand.

A large hairy man walked over to us from beside the door, a girl hanging on his arm.

“I saw you at practice today,” Sebastian told him. “You really got Devon during that alpha fight.”

“Oh, you’re one of the werewolves who were practicing in the park today?” I asked.

“You saw some of that? Yeah, my team, the Wily Wolves, are trying to go pro this year. Gotta practice. I’m Trevor,” he held his hand out for me to shake, “and this is my girl, Shelly.”

“Nice to meet ya,” Shelly said in a thick Boston accent. Her brown hair was cut into a pixie style and nearly every inch of skin I could see, which was a lot, was covered in tattoos, except her neck and face.

“Hey, we’re gonna head in. We’ll see you there,” said Trevor. “Nice to meet you, Damien.”

As they walked away, I asked Sebastian, “How did he know my name?”

“I might have talked about you a little bit. Y’know, just in case you were a lunatic hunter.”

“A hunter?”

“Yeah. Some mortals find out about us, think we’re monsters, and try to kill us. As someone who has a bit of a mortal kink—” so I was right, “—it can be dangerous for me to…hang out with someone like you without telling people.”

“Does that happen a lot?”

“Not really. There are groups of hunters, but they rarely get beyond the veil. Usually they trick witches and warlocks into getting them inside and try to kill as many as they can.”

“What sort of magical creature are y—”

I was cut off by a series of whoops. I turned to see what the commotion was and my jaw dropped.

Four fairies, two men, and two women, were dancing in sync at the edge of the massive crowd between the bar and the stage. All four of them were completely naked. I couldn’t help but feel entranced by them as I watched the lean, muscled figures of the fairies.

“Hey now,” Sebastian said into my ear. “I thought you were with me tonight.”

“I am,” I said, tearing my eyes to look at him. As our eyes met, I felt that swooping sensation in my stomach again. There was something familiar about it. “Sorry, I was just taken by surprise.”

I took a couple gulps from my drink as Sebastian watched me.

“It’s okay,” he said, “I’m not the jealous type. Besides, I’ve got more to work with than either of those fairies do. Come on.”

Sebastian grabbed my hand and led my past the dancing fairies one of whom—I couldn’t tell which—slapped my ass as we went by them.

Once we were in the crowd, I could feel the energy of the mass of people seep into me. Sebastian stood behind me, groin pressed into my ass, arm around my stomach, and we danced to the music. Sebastian was grinding on me so hard, I almost thought he was going to rip my pants off and fuck me right here.

As we danced, I sipped my drink until it was gone. Sebastian grabbed the empty cup from my hand as I turned around. He threw it back over his shoulder and as it shattered against the ground, grabbed me by the chin, and pulled me in for a kiss.

It wasn’t like kissing Roger. Whether he was a fairy or not, I didn’t feel like my lungs were collapsing. Sebastian was sweet and tender, but hungry. His kisses told me he wanted to devour me, but wanted me to feel safe. I could feel my cock harden, pressing against the fabric of my pants.

Sebastian eased me backwards, pushing me through the crowd, until I felt my back press against the wall. Through the lingering taste of tequila on my tongue, I could taste something metallic.

“Oh, I could take you right here, right now,” Sebastian growled in my ear as our erections ground together.

“Where can we go?” I asked.

Sebastian pulled away from me, his eyes on mine causing my stomach to swoop and nodded his head toward the back of the club.

I looked that way but wasn’t sure what he was indicating, so I just nodded, trusting him to lead the way. Hand-in-hand, he pulled me through the crowd until we passed through a door near the stage guarded by a troll. We went down a hallway lined with doors, all of them identifiable as bathrooms, given the red “Occupied” near the handle.

Sebastian opened the first one that said “Available,” slammed the door behind us, muffling the music to a dull beat, and locked it behind us. I walked into the room and turned to look at Sebastian, my heart thumping.

Suddenly, the realization of what I was doing hit me all at once. I was in the bathroom of a club with a man I didn’t know. Nobody knew where I was and I was being hunted by a group of people who could perform magic.

That realization melted away when Sebastian closed the distance between us, pressing me into the wall, and smashing his lips into mine. He ran his hands up under my shirt, groping at my body as I held his biceps in my own hands, feeling the way they flexed as he rubbed me up and down.

Our tongues clashed and that metallic taste returned as he deepened the kiss, wrapping his arms around me so there was no space between our bodies.

Sebastian broke his mouth away from mine to kiss my jaw, then my neck. He flicked his tongue over a spot, then bit down. Pure ecstasy filled me, seeping into my body from the spot. I was floating, transcending this world for a more beautiful one. The dim lights above exploded into a shower of rainbow prisms as every care I’d ever had in the world melted away, falling into the Earth to be lost forever.

Sebastian’s teeth left my skin and I felt him pull up my shirt, tossing it to the side, quickly followed by his own.

He gazed at me, transfixed.

I gave a small chuckle and reached out to touch his mouth.

“You’re bleeding,” I said, wiping the mess away.

“That’s not mine,” he said. He raised a finger and pressed it to my neck, to a spot that felt in a way I can only describe as the quiet of a spring morning and then slid it into my mouth. I could taste the metallic taste from before, stronger but somehow delicious.

“Do you want to stop?” Sebastian asked.

“No,” I said, though a trickle of doubt ran through my muddled mind.

Sebastian looked dubious. He took a step back, breaking contact with me. My body ached for him, for his touch, wanting him to sink his teeth into me again.

“Are you sure? Because we can stop if you—”

I reached out and grabbed the waistband of his pants, pulling him close to me and kissing him, tasting my blood again.

“Don’t you fucking dare,” I said.

Sebastian smiled as he gripped the waistband of my pants and pushed down, sinking to his knees. He ran the back of his hand along his mouth, wiping it clean, then gripped the base of my cock and looked up at me.

“Beg for it,” he said.

“I—” I let out a groan as he tightened his grip for a moment, challenging me with his eyes. “Please suck my cock. Please, don’t make me wait any longer. I’ll—I’ll do anything.”

“That’s a good boy,” Sebastian said, then flicked his tongue across the slit. It was as though a whip made of the fabric of Heaven shot across my body. Terrible in its beauty, terrifying in its power.

He licked again and again, running his tongue along the head. I was against the wall, unable to move a muscle, sure nothing in this world could feel better. That is, until he slid his lips over the head and sucked me down into this throat.

The world felt as if it had turned on its side. As though I were laying on the ground, rather than pressed against a wall. I was falling into oblivion as this man, this vampire, worked his throat over my cock. I groaned with every stroke, made choking noises I’d never even heard in porn, gasped and pleaded and begged for more and he gave it to me every time.

I felt the world start to right itself and knew I shouldn’t ask him what I wanted, what my body told me I needed. I knew it was wrong. But I couldn’t help myself. When Sebastian pulled back, saliva running down his chin, I held out my arm.

“Bite me again,” I said, though the words didn’t feel like my own.

“Are you sure?” he asked.

I nodded and watched, transfixed, elated, and a bit horrified, as he grabbed my arm. His canines elongated, extending into two sharp points. He bit down and I felt the world spin. I sunk to the ground as he drank my blood, feeling myself turn into cotton, into jelly, into energy.

He pulled back and licked his lips clean, then stood and pulled his pants down, kicking them aside. He didn’t need to give me instruction. I pushed myself up, feeling the world tilt forward, throwing me into Sebastian.

I grabbed his cock in my hand and pushed it up, feeling its girthy weight in my palm and sucked one of his balls into my mouth. Fingers twisted into my hair as I sucked the ball in as far as I could go, relishing in the echoing groan Sebastian let out. The smell of his ball sweat pervaded my nose, an intoxicated aroma I inhaled as I gasped for air.

I let his ball leave my mouth, dripping with saliva as I licked up the side of his cock, swirling my tongue around the exposed head once before swallowing him down. Sebastian wasn’t exceptionally long, but it was thick, so getting it into my throat wasn’t easy, but I managed, settling my nose into his trimmed pubic hair.

Sebastian twisted his fingers deeper into my hair, holding my head in place as he fucked my face. Every thrust sent a wave of pleasure cascading through my body, though it was nothing compared to when he’d blown me. He fucked my face, rough and hard, until I was choking for air. When he pulled out, a long string of saliva ran down my face, pooling onto the floor.

“Stand up, against the wall,” he said.

I obeyed immediately, placing myself against the wall with my ass out. Sebastian came up behind me, spread my cheeks, and pressed his tongue to my hole.

If I thought him sucking my cock felt good, I was in no way prepared for this. I threw my head back and moaned, watching as the ceiling grew closer, unsure whether I was lifting toward it or it was falling toward me, but ready for whatever fate had in store. His tongue slid into me and the wind whispered in my ears as I gripped the stone wall so hard, I was surprised it didn’t shatter.

Suddenly, the feeling was gone as he pulled away, but it came back three fold as two fingers slid into my ass. He felt around, looking for my prostate, though was practically shouting its location for all to hear. His fingers raked it and my eyes rolled back into my head.

“You like the way that feels?” he whispered into my ear.

I leaned my head backwards, resting it against his shoulder as the room tilted again.

“Fuck…yes…” I said. “Don’t stop. Don’t ever stop.”

“Oh, trust me, you’ll want what comes next,” he said.

When his fingers left me, I felt empty, hollow. But he moved me to a metal counter and pushed me up on it, spreading my legs apart. I was ready. I wanted, no, I needed this, more than I’d ever needed anything in my entire life.

He pressed the tip of his cock press against my hole but he didn’t push inside. He was going to make me beg again.

“Please, don’t stop. Please, fuck me. Please, I need it, please, please…”

“Shhh,” he said, running one hand over my stomach, the other keeping his cock positioned on my hole. “You’ll have it, don’t worry. But first…do you think you can handle one more bite?”

My eyes were rolling uncontrollably and I could barely stand, but I needed more. No amount could be too much.

“Yes,” I said, “do it.”

“Are you sure? I don’t want to continue biting you if you’re unsure.”

“I’m sure,” I gasped, “I’m sure.”

I felt his lips against my skin as he lined his teeth up to the first bite. His teeth sunk into my neck as his cock sunk into my ass.

The room fell apart, threatening to drop me if I let go of Sebastian as his cock pressed into my prostate. Heaven itself opened up and the secrets of the universe spilled out as he thrust into me.

He leaned back, gazing at me and started fucking me. I gripped the side of the counter as we locked eyes, as I was split open, melted, and reformed. I was moaning and groaning as he gripped my legs, pounding into me. I was dazed, my vision blurry as he fucked me, sliding in and out of my hole with ease.

He leaned forward, his rhythm unfazed, and kissed my shoulder. I leaned down, not sure what drove me to this, and sunk my teeth into his neck. He growled in pleasure and his thrusting increased as my teeth broke flesh, as his blood pooled in my mouth. In turn, his teeth sunk into my shoulder.

We were connected, absolutely one being. A flood of biblical proportion rose up inside me, consumed me, and burst forth.

We broke our mouths from each other as we came. A fountain of cum erupted from my cock as shuddering waves of brilliant ecstasy danced over my body. Sebastian groaned, his thrusting becoming erratic until I felt him explode within me. My insides expanded with his load of cum, but he didn’t stop. He fucked me hard and fast, riding that wave of bliss while enticing mine to keep going.

When he slid out of me, he stumbled back against the wall and slid to the floor, panting.

I laid my head down, letting the world spin around me, covered in cum both inside and out. I looked down at this beautiful man who’d rocked my world. Saw the blood on his lips. And reality came crashing down upon me.

I jumped up, trying to fight the tilting room, but losing. Had it not been for Sebastian, moving faster than the blink of an eye, I would have fallen. He pulled me into his arms and we collapsed against the wall, my head buried in his chest.

“It’s okay,” he said soothingly, running his hand through my hair. “It’ll pass in a bit.”

How long we laid there on the floor, I had no idea. But eventually, the world stopped spinning enough for me to make my way to the toilet and expel Sebastian from inside me. Most of it, anyway.

As I pulled on my pants, I avoided looking at Sebastian, unsure of what my feelings were at the moment.

“Are you okay?” Sebastian asked. He was leaning against the wall, still completely naked.

“I…I don’t know. I didn’t know you were a vampire when I agreed to meet you. I didn’t know you were going to bite me.”

“It’s in my bio. The vampire part, anyway. And I asked you about the bite.”

I remembered the conversation.

Damien: I’m not really sure what I’m looking for here. Something NSA, tbh

Sebastion: That’s fine. You trying to get a bite?

Damien: Yeah, that’d be great

“I thought you meant a bite of food. Something to eat.”

“Well, I had something to eat,” he said, then the smile on his face melted when I glared at him.

I moved to the mirror to inspect my wounds, but they were gone. There was just a bit of dried blood. Kaden’s words come back to me, about how a vampire can heal quickly.

“Am I a vampire now?” I asked. “How did the holes disappear so quickly?”

“Wounds caused by vampire bites vanish very quickly. You won’t even have a scar. Look, you’re not going to report me, are you? I thought you wanted it.”

“No, I’m not going to report you,” I said. “I didn’t see in your bio that you were a vampire or I wouldn’t have met you in the first place.”

“Really?” Sebastian asked, sounding angry and offended.

“I didn’t mean it like that,” I said, turning to look at him, but not sure if it was true.

“Just admit you liked it,” he said, striding over to me and jabbing me in the chest with a finger.

“I didn’t like it,” I lied.

Sebastian lifted my arm and licked the dried blood from the spot he’d bitten. I gasped and reflexively lifted my arm to his mouth, almost asking him to bite me again, but he let my arm go.

“Vampire bites aren’t addictive,” he said. “If you like it, you like it and you want more.”

“Why are you so interested in mortals?” I asked, not sure where the question came from.

Sebastian stepped up to me, his face very close to mine. “Because you taste the best,” he breathed, then licked just beneath my lip. I wrapped my arms around him and pressed my lips to his, pushing my tongue into his mouth, enjoying the metallic taste of my blood on his breath.

“Why does that taste good to me?” I asked, pulling back.

“It’s a side effect of vampire venom. It’ll wear off in an hour or so. Look, I’d really like to meet up with you again. I don’t have to bite you.”

“We’ll see,” I said, backing away from him.

Sebastian went to the pile of clothes and threw me my shirt and shoes, which I hadn’t even been aware of being removed, and we got dressed.

“Wait,” Sebastian said as I moved toward the door.

I turned back as he closed the distance between us. He grabbed my waist and started to lick my neck. My breath became shallow as he licked and sucked. I wanted him to bite me again, to give me that feeling back, but he didn’t.

“You had some blood on your neck,” he said, wiping the spot dry with his hand. “I’ll see you around, Damien.”

I opened the door and made my way out of the club. Standing on the sidewalk, I opened the Buffr app on my phone and went to Sebastian’s profile. There, under a short bio saying he was just “seeing what’s out there”, was DESIGNATION: VAMPIRE.

I’d missed it somehow. It was right there, right in front of my eyes, and I missed it. A message came in from Sebastian. It was his phone number. I saved it, not sure if I’d ever use it, and started heading back toward Roger’s house.

I was so preoccupied thinking about Sebastian I didn’t notice the tendril of shadow until it’d wrapped around my ankle, pulled me to the ground, and dragged me into an alleyway.
