Part 1 - A new Kalāa
This is Ritvik Anand, he's half-Alaskan and half-Polynesian; he's an acclaimed porn actor, mostly acting straight roles, but he's versatile enough to express his sexual prowess in gay scenes, too, as long as he keeps a "top" role. Deep in his heart, he hides the scars of a difficult childhood with and abusive stepfather.
Ritvik is sick with his life, and dreams of leaving everything behind and move to Sulani, the Polynesian island where he was born and where his Tāmā, his biological father, prematurely died, leaving to baby Ritvik only an old faded photo.
This is Kyle, a good-hearted and innocent guy who soon discovered that his husband Roderick was not the kind, righteous policeman he married, but an abusive, evil monster. Kyle, too, is sick with his life and dreams to fly far away and rebuild his future.
When worst comes to worst, Kyle, fearing for his life, calls for his old friend (and teen crush) Ritvik, who comes and snatches the abused guy from Roderick's clutches.
"Kyle..." -- says softly Ritvik to his friend when alone -- "It breaks my heart seeing that razor sharp look into your eyes... Where is the kid I once loved, the kid who looked at the world with joy and surprise? Don't let Roderick take away this part of you! We both deserve a better life. Come with me to Sulani!"
Kyle's eyes suddenly soften, showing once more the pure innocence that many years before fascinated so much his friend. "You are my hero!" -- he exclaims, hugging Rik tightly -- "Yes, I'm coming with you! To Polynesia or to the end of the world!"
After a month, the two friends are in Sulani, the tropical island where Ritvik was born. Spending all his savings and making a big mortgage, Rik managed to buy a beautiful beach house on a lonely islet in the middle of the tropical lagoon.
"Welcome to your new home!" -- Ritvik says joyfully to Kyle -- "And welcome to your new life!"
One morning, Rik and Kyle are cleaning the beach from the garbage, when a young native stops near them.
Rik raises his head and looks absentmindedly at the man, appreciating his sculpted muscles covered with intricate tattoos.
But when Rik raises his eyes to look at the man's face, his heart suddenly chills!
"Tamā!!"
The native giggles: "I can't possibly be your tamā, stranger... You could be my older brother, sure enough not my son! Ah ah ah!"
"Look at this picture!" -- Ritvik exclaims -- "Aren't you this man?"
"Of course I'm not him, this photo is too old... " -- replies the young man -- "But the resemblance is impressive! And he wears the traditional clothing and tattoos of my family!"
"Then you must know him! His name was Laniakea Anand, he died long ago, when I was still a child..."
"You are Laniakea's son??" -- the young man exclaims with great surprise -- "I'm your cousin, Kamehameha! Wait, your name is... Ritvikanùa, right?"
Hearing again, after so many years, his traditional Sulanian name moves Rik to tears: "No one has called me this way since I was a little child..."
Kamehameha holds Rik in a strong, loving hug: "Welcome back home, Ritvikanùa! My parents will be so happy to see you!"
"Kyle, come here! You won't believe who I've met! He's my cousin Kamehameha!"
Kyle gasps, looking at the young man. His exotic handsomeness, his gorgeous body and the powerful manliness that emanates from him make Kyle's heart thump hard and his head spin!

They all sit around the table to drink the traditional Kava. After a while, Kyle can't hold his curiousity any more: "Kailua, your son told me that I may be a Kalāa... But what exactly is a Kalāa?"
"We call Kalāa the persons of the... third sex. Men who accept men inside them." -- explains Kailua -- "They are treated with great reverence here! Lying with a Kalāa, for example, is not considered cheating, not even for married men."
"You're young, and you look so exotic, with your pale skin and your hairy body! If you choose to be a Kalāa, you could become popular and rich! In fact, while a Kalāa can't ask for anything, he usually receives many gifts..."
"A Kalāa is usually visited by married men who want to experience something new or have problems with their wives" -- Kamehameha explains -- "and by single men who can't find a mate, because they are too shy or too inexperienced..."
"And maybe you'll get a visit from the man who lives in the forest, whose manhood is notoriously... too huge for our tiny women!"
