Flashback: Iconic Studs

These guys had no idea they were part of what would one day be seen as a classic. They're vintage porn icons, if not known by name, then known by pose, body, setting, lighting, expression, film stock, and, of course, hairstyle.

There's a certain, how to say it, community feel here. Folks banding together in commerce to get off other folks. They created a market out of a secret audience. And when you have a model with smoldering eyes, a seductive chest and torso, and zero shyness, magic is born.

Choosing the object of one's masturbatory affections is a political act, not as literal as voting (reminder: vote), but an act of self-determination regardless. Sure, plenty of guys back then were married to women or had girlfriends while secretly fanning out over guy porn. And some of those guys were bi and that was the arrangement that worked for them.

But some of them were gay, or homosexual, or however they thought about it, and if not immediately empowering to turn fantasy into reality, at least helped them know who they were sexually deep down.

Which is why, at least for me, eye contact in porn is everything. No, I don't think the model can see me, but it's the same concept as any magazine cover model making eye contact with the camera. It breaks the fourth wall and brings the person into one's life in some immediate but delightfully hypothetical (fantasy) way. You can be them. You can be with them.
