" I don't know yet" Lucas said absently to Brody as he looked around to see. It was a huge room with lots of library shelves, a queen-sized bed in the corner, three onyx cauldrons dry and dusty with flecks of rust, a small desk by the bedside with a few papers that were scribbled in a language so ancient, it was barely recognisable and…

" Woah!Is that a wand?" Lucas gasped at the ivory and ash wand, wands are outdated and were used during the ancient times to reserve mana usage before the introduction of the crystal system. They were said to be an extension of oneself and were extremely powerful.

"Well, that explains the ancient language," Lucas wondered as he stood up to put on his clothes. The language was quite familiar, but Lucas couldn't put his finger on it, he went on to pick up the wand.

" Umm, should you pick that up?" Body warned, "Those things are said to be powerful and dangerous if you are not the owner!?" he warningly suggested as he too was dressing up but the wand called out to Lucas. Before they knew it, he picked up the wand and nothing happened. Brody gasped from behind and Lucas wondered why?

" Lucas, your eyes are glowing!" he whispered in shock, and he was right. Lucas saw light wherever he looked but he felt nothing out of the ordinary as he tried to tell Brody, except that he felt the wand was a part of him somehow, like it had always been apart of him.

" I'm taking it" and it was not a request. Brody knew better than to argue with Lucas when he liked something related to magic mysteries, so he decided to let it go. They looked around till they found out that the sanctuary they had teleported into, was one of those hidden family sanctuaries within the ley-lines themselves, created by powerful magi, and this one, in particular, belonged to the Bellemount Monarchy. They were a group of five royal families that ruled over the current magical system including; the Na'Zulu monarchy, Hir'Agana monarchy, McVault monarchy and the Marillo monarchy.

Each monarchy reigned over a different direction of the continent. Most sanctuaries were always created in the magical lands but legend has it that there were a few socerers and enchantresses who found a way to make sanctuaries within the ley lines themselves. The art was lost, and it seemed like Lucas and Brody had stumbled across one.

The Bellemount monarchy, in particular, was so powerful that it reigned over the central part till today, and they wondered why the sanctuary was abandoned.

" I think we should ask Caïus for help" Brody suggested, and as Lucas was about to protest, he stopped him.

" I know what you are going to say, and believe me I do understand," he paused with a sigh, " But I trust that old geezer with my life, he has been able to help me cope with the after math of my attempted murder" Brody finished and Lucas decided to trust the man before him.

" Are you okay with another stop at Caius' place?" Brody asked Lucas wary of his depleted magic but Lucas just nodded.

" Are you sure?" He pushed but Lucas assured him he was fine.

" Why don't I use this wand?" Lucas suggested it, but Brody immediately rejected the thought. He reasoned with Lucas, saying that they were not even sure how to use the thing, but deep down. However, deep down, Lucas felt that he knew what he was supposed to do.

" Do you trust me?" Lucas held out his hand to touch Brody's cheek, seeing the man before him, worried and afraid for me, and as he was about to retort, Lucas leant in for a long passionate kiss while reaching for the wand. Brody stepped back, shocked to see Lucas's eyes glowing once again. Then he closed his eyes, breathed out and hoped for the best as he held onto Lucas's right hand.

Lucas was left-handed.

"Okay, here we go" said a nervous Lucas, but Brody's reassuring hand squeeze made him less nervous. He closed his eyes and searched for the previous spell he used to teleport them here, channelling the ley lines, but something else happened. The wand seemed to vibrate in his hands, and it felt cold to touch, the kind of cold that feels just right.

It was unexplainable at the moment, but it felt like it was the right thing to feel and a strange new spell came out of his lips. A group of words he'd never heard in his life; ' Obsecuro aperta Ostia'.

Suddenly, the air around them began vibrating as the wand tip produced thick threads of silky green, and fluid-like energy. The air itself turned the right amount of cold and the shape of a wooden door began forming before them.

It was a leaf green door with a round brass handle. It had a glowing halo around it, and they just stood there in awe.

" What the hell was that language?" Brody was the one to break the silence after a few minutes of speechlessness.

" I really don't know!" replied a dumbstruck Lucas. " I was thinking of making a portal to your friend, Caius, and that happened" Lucas tried explaining. He also told Brody that the wand took control somehow, and he just knew what to do. Plus, the spell took less mana than the usual teleportation spell.

They decided to open the door and find out if it had really worked. Lucas reached out to turn the brass doorknob but froze for many reasons, some of which seemed absurd and out of fear. However, he felt Brody's warm body behind him, and his hand was guided by Brody's hand as he told him that they were in it together.

They turned the door knob, opened, and finally passed through the blinding light to the other side.

"Oh my! What a pleasant surprise" said the voice on the other side.
