Chapter 13

I walked into the kitchen the next morning, Eli was pouring a cup of coffee.

“Well, you look like you are in a good mood.”

I grinned, “what makes you say that?”

He raised an eyebrow, “oh, just that silly grin on your face.”

I smiled even wider, “well, Cody and I finally had a long talk, he wants to move in with me. Are you ok with that?”

He set his mug down, “of course I am, dude, that is awesome.”

I gave him a hug, “thanks Eli.”

Cody walked in just as we broke our embrace, “morning, does that mean Eli is ok with me moving in?”

Eli hugged Cody, “yes it does, glad to have you.”

I poured Cody a cup of coffee and handed it to him. He took a sip and set the cup down, then said, “ok, so we just might as well get this out of the way right now.”

Eli and I looked at each other confused. Cody pulled his shorts down to ankles and waved his cock at Eli, “Brian said, he was pretty sure you wanted to see me naked, so here you go.”

Eli looked at me, “really?”

I shrugged, “I just told him what a horn dog you are.”

Eli gave Cody a good look, “well thanks, Brian is right, I am a horn dog. Very nice by the way.”

Just then Sam walked in, “ok, I guess I’m a little late to the party.”

We laughed as Cody pulled his shorts up, we explained what was going on to Sam as he got his coffee.

Sam took a sip, “so did you tell him what we talked about last night?”

Eli said, “oh, no not yet we were all so excited about Cody moving in, I didn’t get a chance.”

I asked, “what’s going on with you two?”

Eli replied, “Well, Sam’s roommate is getting married next month, I was going to move in with him after the wedding, but his roommate’s housing plans fell through, so he is staying in their apartment, so if you are ok with it, I asked Sam to move in here with us.”

I chuckled, “what the hell, the more the merrier, what do you think Cody?”

Cody smiled, “sure, sounds like fun.”

We spent the next couple weeks getting everyone moved in and settled, we were all getting along great and soon got into a routine.

I was talking to Dad about what was happening and how well things were going.

He laughed, “wow, I bet there is never a dull moment around your place.”

I said, “yeah, I guess that is one way to put it. So, what else is going on at home?”

Dad said, “you know my birthday is coming up at the end of next month?”

I chuckled, “yeah, the big 6-0.”

He scoffed, “yeah, don’t rub it in. Well, your mom wants to give me a birthday party, will you come home for that?”

“Of course, I will dad, I wouldn’t miss it.”

He said, “thanks kiddo, I’m glad to hear that, I hope you’ll bring Cody.”

I paused, “wow, thanks dad, that means a lot to me. What do you think mom will say?”

Dad asked, “does it matter?”

I thought for a minute, “no, no it doesn’t. I want him there and since you were kind enough to invite him, she can just deal with it.”

Dad said, “don’t get defensive, all that I ask is that you give her a chance, she may surprise you.”

“Ok dad, I will, thanks.”

I talked to Cody that night after work, he was hesitant at first but when I told him how much it would mean to me, he agreed to come along.

Just as we crawled into bed that night Cody sat up. “Oh shit!”

I jumped, “what’s the matter?”

He turned to me, “do you think Jackie will be at your dad’s birthday party?”

I sat up, “damn, I don’t know, I never thought about that.”

He said, “hmm.”

I asked, “does that mean you don’t want go with me?”

He grinned, “oh no, it just makes me want to go even more.”

I laughed, “you kind of have an evil streak in you, don’t you?”

His grin widened, “maybe.”

Over the next couple of weeks, we made our plane reservations and plans to go home for dad’s birthday party. Cody and I continued to play golf with Zach and Drew every few weeks and became good friends. We were happy for them when they announced they were getting married, we all went out for supper to celebrate, and included Eli and Sam.

The week before we were to leave, Eli and Sam told us that they too had decided to get married, their wedding would be a couple weeks after Zach and Drew’s, which was scheduled for a month after our trip home. We were thrilled for them, and we began planning the party for both couples.

Cody and I boarded the plane to head home, I was a little bit nervous about how my family was going to act with me bringing Cody.

He sensed my nervousness, “is everything ok?”

I smiled, “yes, everything is fine, why?”

He said, “you look concerned about something.”

I shrugged, “oh, just worried that things may be awkward with my family, I have never brought anyone home with me before.”

He took my hand, “well, you said your dad wanted me come along, right?”

I nodded, “yeah.”

Cody said, “well, hopefully he will have told everyone else to behave.”

I gave him a slight smile, “yeah you are probably right, besides, I have told myself that I don’t care what anyone else thinks, for the first time in my life, I feel like I have everything that I have ever wanted, I feel complete.”

He gave me a kiss, “yeah, I know what you mean. So, what do you think about all our friends getting married?”

I replied, “I am very happy for them, especially Eli, he deserves a great guy like Sam.”

Cody nodded, “yeah, they are a pretty good match for each other.” He paused then asked, “so have you ever thought about that?”

I turn to look at him, “what, that they make a good couple?”

He looked me in the eyes, “no, I mean getting married, is that something you want to do someday?”

I thought a minute, “of course I have, especially since all our friends are taking that step.”

Cody looked at the floor, “have anyone in mind?”

I squeezed his hand, “I think so. How about you, have you thought about it, or do you have anyone in mind?”

He raised an eyebrow, “yes, I think so.”

I pressed my luck, “do you think you are ready to take that step?”

He took a deep breath, “I’m not sure, just yet, but I have been giving it some thought.”

I gave him a kiss on his cheek, “well, maybe we should have a talk about this when we get back home.”

Cody smiled, “that would be a good idea, I think we have a lot to discuss.”

Cody took a nap for the rest of the flight, I just sat there thinking about our conversation. I had always hoped we would get this point but didn’t want to push. I was so happy I didn’t think about my family for the rest of the flight. We got our rental car and headed home, dad text me and asked if we would stop by the house before we checked into the motel. We pulled into the driveway just as Mike and Jen arrived.

“Hey Brian, good to see you.”

I smiled at my brother, “good to see you too Mike, hi Jen.”

Jen waved, “hi Brian.”

Cody walked up to me, “oh, you guys remember Cody?”

Mike held out his hand, “of course, how have you been?”

Cody shook Mike’s hand, “been good thanks, good to see you again.”

The kids and Jen started taking bags into the house, I said, “Cody is staying with me this weekend.” I looked at Mike to get his reaction.

He smiled, “cool, it’s about time you found someone to bring home to meet the family.”

I was a little bit surprised, “thanks Mike.”

We headed to the house, Mike put his hand on my shoulder, “I thought you two looked good together when we were at the family reunion, and I saw you walk out of the woods.”

I was stunned, “um, thanks.”

We walked in the house, mom was just inside the door, she gave me a hug, “hi Brian, glad you’re here.”

I hugged back, “hey mom, good to be home, you remember Cody?”

She turned and hugged Cody, “of course I do, welcome Cody.”

Cody looked at me with a confused look, I just shrugged. I wasn’t sure who these people were either. Dad came around the corner and after another round of hugs we made our way into the living room.

The kids came running down the hall, “grandma, what happened to our bunk beds, they aren’t in our room?”

Mom said, “oh we moved them downstairs, you guys all get to sleep down there from now on. That’s uncle Brian’s room.”

I looked at mom, then to dad, he just smiled, “did you guys bring your luggage?”

I said, “um, yeah, it’s in the car.”

Dad said, “I’ll help you.” Cody, dad, and I headed outside to get out bags.

I turned to dad, “what the hell just happened?”

He laughed, “well, after your talk the last time you were here, your mom suggested that we do a little redecorating.”

I asked, “it was her idea?”

Dad nodded, “yep.”

We took our bags to my room, I was impressed, a nice bed and few pictures on the wall. It wasn’t fancy but it was perfect.

I went back out to the kitchen and hugged mom, “thanks, I really appreciate it.”

She smiled, “you’re welcome, I’m glad you like it.”

Stacy and Jeff showed up and we ate supper, Jeff was even very nice to both Cody and I and included us in all his conversations. It turned out to be a very pleasant evening, we all headed to bed.

As we crawled into to bed, Cody said, “correct me if I am wrong, but that went really well.”

I chuckled, “yeah it did, either dad talked to all of them beforehand or the little talks I gave last time worked.”

We drifted off to sleep in each other’s arms, we were all going golfing in the morning, so we were getting up early.

I had set the alarm on my phone, it rang, Cody and I woke up. I was still lying in bed, Cody stood and stretched, I was admiring his naked body as he flexed. He caught me looking and turned to me and asked, “like what you see, you pervert?”

I laughed, “oh yeah, flex again.”

He shook his head and bent down to kiss me, his ass was facing the door. We heard a knock and the door opened as dad poked his head in.

He chuckled, “oh, sorry, I was just making sure you were up, mom’s got breakfast ready.” He pulled the door shut and headed down the hall.

Cody was still bent over with his ass in the air, his faced turned bright red, I was of course, rolling with laughter.

He said, “oh my God, I just mooned your dad.”

I fell out of bed trying to compose myself. He looked at me, “it’s not funny.”

When I could finally speak, “yes, yes it is.”

We got dressed and went to eat breakfast, Cody couldn’t even look at dad. Dad just looked at me and grinned and gave me a wink.

We got to the golf course, the women were with us so we paired off as couples. Mike, Jen, Stacy and Jeff were in the first group, Me, Cody, mom and dad in the second. The first group teed off and drove down the fairway. As were waiting to tee off, dad elbowed me, “you were right.”

I looked at dad, “about what?”

He nodded his head toward Cody, “he does have a nice ass.”

I burst out laughing, Cody turned even redder than he had earlier as he said, “oh my god, we are locking the door tonight.”

Through his laughter, dad said, “it’s ok Cody, I have learned my lesson too, I won’t barge in on you two again.”

Mom was looking at us like we were idiots, “I don’t know what’s going on with you guys, but will someone tee off.”

We teased Cody the rest of the morning and he finally found the humor in the whole thing. We had a good game, I was really enjoying my trip home for the first time in a very long time.

We had reserved a room in one of the bars downtown for dad’s party, we spent the rest of the day putting up the decorations and getting the food ready. We all went home and showered and returned to the bar to wait for the guests to arrive. Dad was having a nice time, he was introducing all his coworkers to all of us, I was really proud of him as he introduced me and Cody as his son and his boyfriend without even flinching, just as he introduced Mike and Stacy and their spouses. I introduced Cody to my friends as well, we were all having a good time.

Cody and I were standing toward the back of the room, talking to Todd and Amy, Cody was turned so he could see the door. As we were talking, Cody’s eyes got big, he grabbed my arms, “kiss me.”

I said, “what?”

He pulled me in and pressed his lips to mine and held me there. He let me go just in time for me to look around and see Jackie walk in and stomp toward us.

She yelled, “what the hell was that?”

Cody smiled, “what?”

She was seething, “that kiss, what the hell is going on here?”

He grinned even wider, “that’s how I kiss my boyfriend, do you have a problem with that?”

She gave him a stare of death, “see, I told you it was a bad idea to hang around with this queer.”

Cody held my hand, “well, maybe if you were a better girlfriend, I might never have talked to Brian.”

She shook her head, “you son of a bitch, you were gay before you ever went out with me, and I am a good girlfriend, you would be lucky to have me.”

Cody stood his ground, “well if you such a catch, why are you here alone tonight, why have you never kept a boyfriend for more than a month.”

She turned red, “you asshole, men are all jerks, just like you.”

I was just standing there stunned, proud of Cody for going after Jackie, mom and dad had walked over to us when they heard the yelling.

To my surprise, mom stepped in, “Jackie, if you weren’t such a bitch, you might have better luck with men. Your princess act is wearing thin on all of us. Contrary to your belief, the world does not revolve around you.”

I was still just staring at the scene in disbelief, I had never seen my mom stand up to Jackie or anyone for that matter. Jackie was just getting more pissed by the second.

She hissed, “Aunt Joan, I can’t believe you just…”

Dad cut her off, “I think you should just go home Jackie.”

She whipped her hair, “well, I never.” She turned to leave.

Cody yelled to her, “hey Jackie, we’ll sent you a save the date card, September 14, we hope you can make it.”

Jackie gave another huff as she left. I just stood there trying to take in what had just happened.

Cody turned to me, “are you ok?”

I finally was able to say, “yeah, I’m good. Are you alright?”

Cody smiled, “I’m great, that felt good.”

I turned to mom, “what the hell got into you?”

She smiled, “oh please, her royal highness has had that coming for years, it was high time she was put in her place.” She turned to Cody, “now I know I really like you, welcome to the family.”

Mom and dad went back to the other guests, I was still stunned, thinking about the look on Jackie’s face, the way Cody stood up for himself, mom jumping in like a mamma bear, it was all great.

I turned to Cody, “I didn’t know you had that in you.”

He smiled, “I was hoping she would show up, I have been rehearsing that ever since you invited me to come here with you.”

I laughed, “well it was fun to watch.”

Just as we were about to go talk to some of the others, I stopped and grabbed Cody’s arm, “hey, wait a minute, what did you say as she left?”

Cody looked at me, “what do mean?”

I said, “you said save the date, September 14, did you mean that?”

He smiled, “yes I did, what do you think?”

I gave him a big kiss, “I think that would be great.”

He hugged me tight, “good, me too, I want to spend the rest of my life with you.”

I said, “I love you too. Wait, why did you pick that date, it seems like there is something else going on that date.”

He laughed, “there was something going on, that was the date Jackie picked out for her wedding.”

My jaw dropped, “holy shit, you are a little bit evil, aren’t you?”

He gave me that sly grin as we went back to the party.

The End.
