I spent the spring semester studying and waiting for Friday nights when I could talk to Mitch on the phone. We had promised one another not to spend our study time texting back and forth and limited our texts to a line in the morning and two at the end of the day. Any other communication was by e-mail, but we had promised not to send more than one each day and to make them short.

While we both knew that limiting communication would keep us from talking for hours on the phone, I missed Mitch tremendously, and I was devastated when Mitch’s mother insisted on taking him to France for spring break. I suspected the move was to keep us apart. Mitch knew that he could have refused, but he also knew the hell he would pay from the refusal and knew that I would understand. I did understand; there were plenty of things I did because my mother wanted me to even though I didn’t.

Mrs. Epstein didn’t realize that Mitch had convinced me to get my passport so that we could travel together during the summer. “She always springs some trip on us at the last minute, and there’s always room on the jet for one more.” Mitch had a devious grin on his face when he said it. My passport arrived at the end of March, so I was ready for anything. I wasn’t going out, and I ate at home. I had a part-time job in the library, and I saved every penny. I was ready for anything. Or so I thought.

Doug was part of our conspiracy when Mitch returned for the summer. He picked me up and we headed to the airport. Their mother believed that Mitch was returning on Wednesday, and today was Monday. She had taken the jet to Vegas and would be back Wednesday afternoon. Mitch was flying commercial, and as Doug and I waited by baggage claim, we heard sirens going off. We heard someone say that fire engines were being sent to the runway. I got a knot in my stomach. Time seemed to slow down.

“You’re looking pale, Aaron,” Doug told me. He put his arm around my shoulder and gave me a squeeze.

“It’s just nerves.” My phone beeped at that moment. I pulled it from my pocket.

“Just landed. One of the engines quit, so we got priority to land. Weird seeing firetrucks as we touched down. Everything is good so we taxied to the gate. I’m on my way to baggage claim.”

I smiled, and my eyes filled with tears.

“Hey,” said Doug. I showed him the text. He gave me another squeeze. “I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone who loves someone as much as you love Mitch.”

He’s right, I thought. Mitch was in my thoughts all the time. I didn’t know anyone else who was drawn to someone like that. The only other person in my life that interrupted my thoughts was Jordan, and I considered him unattainable, and as my relationship grew with Mitch, I thought of him less and less often. Mitch had become everything to me, and I wondered what I would do if he ever asked me to do something crazy. Would I just do it because it was he who asked?

Doug pointed toward the escalator. I saw Mitch, and he waved his arms with a big smile on his face. I don’t remember running to him or grabbing him, but he was in my arms, and I didn’t want to let go.

I sat in the back seat with Mitch, and his luggage sat on the passenger seat as Doug drove us back with a stop at Long John Silver’s. We went through the drive-thru with promises of not spilling any in Doug’s car. We each took a bit with our faces over the bag and then decided to finish once back in Mitch’s room. He dropped us off at the side of the house and took off back down the driveway.

“I love your brother,” I told Mitch. “Mine doesn’t even talk to me.”

“I didn’t realize you had a brother.”

“I guess that’s because that’s what it feels like. He left for college and never came back. He calls my parents now and then. I think my mom is pissed because she liked him more than she likes me. I think she liked him more than she likes my dad.”

“I’m sorry to hear that.” Mitch let go of his luggage handle and hugged me.

“It’s OK because I’ve got you.”

“And, I’ve got you, Babe.”

“Are you going to start singing?” I asked.

“No, but I’ve thought a lot about humming with my mouth full.” His finger grazed me just below my belly button. “Know what I mean.”

I relaxed my face and raised my eyebrows. “No. I have no idea.” I feigned ignorance. “You’ll have to show me.”

“Sure thing. Let me call this buddy of mine who lives down the road. He can help me demonstrate. You watch, and take notes.”

“Don’t you dare!”

Mitch laughed. “I’m kidding.”

I knew he was, but I knew that it would break my heart if he weren’t. I followed him up to his room, and he put his suitcase down just outside his closet door.

“Aaron, I need you to do something for me.” His voice was serious.

“Of course.”

“You know we’re leaving next week.”

“Yeah,” I nodded.

“I found out where we’re going.”

“OK,” I said hesitantly.

“We’re flying down to the Keys. It turns out that my father got us a yacht for the summer, and we’re taking it into the Caribbean. We’ll be going to several of the islands, so it’s a good thing you’ve got your passport.”

I smiled.

“There’s just one problem.” He put his arms around my neck.

“And that is?” I asked.

“It seems that I’ve become a bit of a tight-ass while I was away at school. I need you to loosen me up before we head out. You see, I want to enjoy getting fucked while the yacht bobbles around in the waves.”

“Yachts don’t bobble, do they?” I asked.

“You’re missing the point. I need you, Aaron.”

I looked deep into his eyes. All the pent-up desires I had for him suddenly burst forth. I pressed my mouth to his as I worked to unbutton his shirt. His fingers unbuttoned the top few buttons of mine, and he worked to pull it over my head. With my shirt off, I pounced onto the nape of his neck. I licked and kissed and found my way back to his mouth. He was struggling to push my pants downward. I kicked off my shoes and removed the rest of my clothing in one motion. Mitch had kicked off his shoes and was unbuckling his belt. I pulled his legs up so they encircled my waist, and I carried him to the bed.

Dropping him onto his back, I moved forward and pulled on his buckle. His belt came off with one pull. His pants and underwear were next, and they proved to be no obstacle to my building lust. I pushed his legs up and his cheeks apart and spat on his hole. Both his cock and mine were already hard. I rubbed the spittle against the pucker and then fucked him with my thumb. I wasn’t gentle, and he gasped.

I used more spittle on my dick and then pushed it into him. He winced from the sudden stretch before grabbing my ass and pulling me into him more quickly. “You’re mine,” I growled as I assaulted his hole with my hardness.

Mitch’s eyes rolled back as I slammed into him. “I love you,” he grunted.

I leaned forward and kissed him. I sucked his lower lip into my mouth as I continued to fuck him with a frenzy I didn’t realize was possible. The stream of cum from his cock blasted against my chest. I inhaled the smell of it and then filled him with seed.

I collapsed onto him. His chest heaved up and down as he gasped for air. I reached up and pushed his wet bangs from his forehead. “You know that I love you, don’t you?” I asked as I slid to his side. I kissed his chest, getting some of his cum on my mouth. He tasted so good.

“I do,” he replied. “When we’re out of school, do you want to get married and adopt some babies?”

“I can’t imagine anything better.” I snuggled up to him and closed my eyes. A few moments later, he turned so that we were spooning. I felt the wetness between his cheeks from my ejaculate leaking out of him. I became hard again. This time, I gently slipped inside him. My thrusts were slow and deliberate, and after I came for the second time. I rolled onto my back so he could take me. We loved each other several times that evening, and just before midnight, we showered and went down to the kitchen to grab a bite to eat.

The next morning, I woke up to Mitch’s staring eyes. “It’s about time,” he said. “I’ve got a great plan for today.”

“Does it involve sucking your dick?” I asked.

“Well, that’s for later, but this morning, we have tickets to Las Vegas.”

“Why?”

“Because I want to marry you, and I don’t see any reason to wait.”

“You want to get married today?” I smiled. “Is that even possible?”

“It is in Vegas, baby. Get showered and get dressed.” He kissed me. “I’ll get in the shower with you. I’ve wanted to suck your dick for the past thirty minutes.”

I pushed the covers down and exposed my already firm erection. “Then why didn’t you?” I laughed.

“Eww. There’s still poop on it from last night. I love you, but that only goes so far.”

I got out of bed and walked toward the shower.

“Hey.” Mitch’s voice had an air of seriousness to it. “You do want to marry me, right?”

“I do.” I smiled again.

“Today is OK?”

I nodded. “I’m headed to the shower, right. And it’s not just for a blowjob. It’s because I love you. Today is a perfect day to get married.”

My first experience on a plane was awful. A thunderstorm had rolled in and the turbulence was worse than every roller coaster ride at an amusement park put together into one vomit-inducing ride from hell. Several times, I was certain the plane was going to drop from the sky. Thirty minutes later the flight smoothed out. My head was throbbing. Mitch took it in stride. He claimed to have been through worse. I didn’t know how that was possible.

The last twenty minutes of the flight were like a ride on a street filled with potholes. With all the jerking around, I was sure how the wings of the plane didn’t snap right off. I was so happy when the plane was on the ground and came to a stop. I’d forgotten that we were flying back this afternoon.

A taxi ride to the license bureau was smooth and pretty quick. We got the license and headed across the street to the chapel. We were witnesses for two older men who were tying the knot, and they were witnesses for us.

Four hours later, we were back on a plane and headed home as husband and husband. The fingers of my right hand were interlaced with Mitch’s left hand. I could feel the inexpensive ring on his ring finger. He’d told me that he had the perfect rings for us to wear picked out at a jewelry store back home, but he wasn’t sure of my ring size. I looked down at the cheap metal ring on my left hand that matched his. I would keep that one always.

I thought back. Only a few years ago, I was terrified that I would spend my life alone. I longed for intimacy, and I had, bravely or foolishly, experienced it with a man from my father’s work. That time seemed so far away. The only hiccough on are way here–well, there were two–Mitch’s mother and the problem of our last name. I didn’t want to be called Aaron Epstein and Mitch Smith wasn’t any better. We wondered whether we should pick a completely new last name, but did it matter?

I turned and smiled at Mitch. He grinned back at me, and I squeezed his hand just as the left engine of the plane shuddered and went silent. Mitch shook his head. “Why does this always happen to me?”

I chuckled a little at that. Then the right engine quit, and the lights in the plane went off.
