It was in May of 2014, and in the city of Shreveport, Louisiana, all the kids were getting ready for the last 2 weeks of high school then summer break! He got a text from his best friend Denise, who he knew since freshman year an she wanted to meet up with him at park. But while Golden was texting his mom decided to use the laptop and she stumbled upon one of the gay sites that Golden was looking at......Golden had to make up a lie real quick! Meanwhile at the park down the street, Golden met up with Denise and his other friend, Lisa. "That's Cool with me," said Emmanuel

"Ok class the bell is about to ring I want this collage done before Fridayso you got 4 days and don't just take any pictures take like mini Picasso's make the picture speak 1000 words so you won't have to write a report about it, ok class dismissed," said Mrs. Hones

Then as the class was about to leave for lunch, golden was about to follow Emmanuel when Mrs. Hones called Golden over to her desk

"Yes Mrs. Hones,"

"You know you and Emmanuel are two of my best students, that's why I paired y'all together,"

"Thanks,"

"And I also know you like him,"

"What what um..do you mean?"

"Well I was thinking we can go this like botanical gardens near the river is really beautiful plants and birds," said golden

Then golden had to go, but not before he told Denise and Lisa about Emmanuel and them being together!

"Golden where'd you go?" Asked Heather

"I was with Denise and Lisa at the park and I lost track of time sorry,"

"Ok just be home on time, I don't want you encountering negroes, you know they love to be out at this time of night causing trouble!" Said Heather

"Is he home yet!" Said Gerald

"Yeah he home, he's alright," said Heather

"Look dad I'm sorry I just lost track of time I promise it'll never happen again,"

"Well son I need to talk to you about something more serious," said Gerald

Then Golden left Emmanuel's house, and lugging bags on him he thought about the times they made love, and how hurt Emmanuel was! Golden literally heard him crying his eyes out behind the closed door. It was a month into the facility and Golden and Alex have been going out steadily for the past couple of weeks. Alex had a good steady job at the post office, which meant him and Golden can splurge a bit. Although Golden's heart lies with Emmanuel, Golden figured since he gone forever that he glue the pieces of his shattered heart back together and try to have some fun again. "That's like your 4th beer you're not like drunk or anything?"

"Will that be all sir?" Asked the server

"I'm so sorry you had to go through that, but rest assure that Alex is being handled by the authorities,"

Then the counselor left Golden alone in his own room, and then after that traumatic experience, golden broke down and cried. His heart was shattered again just when he thought he was beginning to repair his life, and as Golden went to bed he looked at the silver necklace that Alex have him and decided that he should pawn it, getting rid of anything that reminded him of that abuser! Then as Golden went to bed crying his eyes out, it made him miss Emmanuel even more, more than he could ever imagine!

"Emmanuel, wherever you're at right now, I miss you so much, I wish you were here holding me!" Cried Golden as went to bed, wondering what tomorrow will bring..

It was a couple days after Alex tried to rape Golden, Golden was so shaken that he didn't leave the facility for a week! "Then you're hired!" Said Ms. Myrtle

Then Golden was excited, he got a job and a easy one at that. Over the next couple of days Golden worked well at the shop, he showed up on time and caused no issues, then when the shop wasn't busy Golden and Ms. Myrtle had deep conversations,

"So how long you been here?"

"Well my late husband Robert bought this store with only $700 and we still have a picture from president Roosevelt so I would say close to 73 years,"

"Wow, that's a long time,"

"Yes it is, so tell me about you,"

"Ugh, there's so much to tell, but long story short, I met this guy in school named Emmanuel and we fell so deep in love, it was just passionate, romantic, and he was a black man, and his skin tone was beautiful, but not everybody likes us together, especially my parents, and they called him racist words and then when I came out and told them I loved him, they disowned me,"

"Dear god, you been thru so much, but what about your parents have you tried to talk to them and work things out?

"No I didn't think they ever wanted anything to do with me since I came out to them,"

"Hey look I know homophobic for years and your parents may have said some foul things, but they still love you, you Just gotta work things out with them you know,"

Then Golden gave it much serious thought, was he really ready to go back an face the people that put him in this situation? Golden realized he couldn't hide forever so after work he made the tough decision....to go back to his parents house. As Golden knocked on the door, he was very nervous, wondering what will happen

"(Knocks on door) MOM DAD ARE YOU GUYS HOME!"

"Mom please I came here to make peace, it's been 2 months,"

"We broke up okay, and I see we're getting nowhere so I'll just go!" Said Golden as he left

Then Golden left in anger, thinking why did he even bother coming over there! Golden's parents got in their car an left the driveway, the car stopped at a stop sign then drove BUT OUT OF NOWHERE, A BIG TRUCK CAME SPEEDING PAST THE OTHER STOP SIGN AND SMASHES RIGHT INTO GOLDENS PARENTS! The whole neighborhood heard the commotion!

"OH MY GOD, SOMEBODY CALL 911!" Shouted a neighbor

"MOM.....DAD!" Shouted Golden as he ran towards the accident, with his parents lying unconscious

That night both Golden's parents were in the hospital, and they were in life support. Golden was outside the room awaiting news from the doctor.....

"Doctor what's going on please tell me if anything good happened?"

"They didn't make it," said the doctor

"What?"

"They sustained a lot of head trauma and they lost so much blood by the time they got here, I'm so sorry,"

Then Golden left the hospital with a numb feeling. He despised his parents for disowning him and memories of the racism still echoing thru this head, so the death of his parents was a bittersweet moment. The next day Golden went back to work with Ms. Myrtle and she noticed he was in pain,

"How'd it go with your parents?"

"I don't wanna talk about it," said a sad Golden

"I'll let you off work early if you need it,"

"No I'm fine, what are all these picture books doing over here?"

"Oh we just put them over there cause we don't know what to do with them, the Oregon one is my favorite, all those mountains are just beautiful, you should go when you get a chance,"

Then Golden looked at the pictures of Oregon, and he was fascinated by the mountains, and the different way of life. So Golden did his research on Oregon and he found out that it was a great place for writers like him, and the atmosphere was like clear am crisp compared to humid Louisiana. And best of all gay people were accepted with open arms over there! This sounded like paradise compared to this mess he was in, and then golden figured after two more paychecks, he will have enough to move there.

It was already August, and after a tumultuous summer, Golden decided it was time to leave all the drama behind and move to Oregon. After his parents had been cremated, since golden was their only child, he inherited EVERYTHING, including $30,000 in a secret college fund that Golden's parents had been saving for him. But instead of going to college golden decided to use that money as he settles in Oregon! Before he was to leave golden quit his job with Ms. Myrtle and decided to say goodbye to Denise and Lisa as they met up for ice cream

"Hey guys,"

"I'm actually fine, you guys I found out mom and dad had $30,000 saved up, I'm takin all that shit!"

"Yasssss honey, I'm so glad your handling you're parents death well," says Denise

"Yeah but you guys listen, I'm not staying here in Shreveport anymore, just too much bad memories and baggage like I need to start fresh and forget about this drama,"

"I'm going to Oregon,"

The next morning Golden left the facility and went to the airport. He got on the plane on his way to Portland, Oregon, where there he will meet new friends and......a old flame.

Golden just touched down in Portland, a brand new world from the one he was used to. Portland had a burgeoning gay scene, the downtown area had a lot of gay bars and social clubs, and golden being a writer an all he would fit right on in! Golden decided to stay in hotel for a week, just to get used to living in the city, while there he was also apartment hunting, and with his inheritance he was able to get a nice place on the east side close to everything, and best of all the realtor, Donald was FINE. With his thick vanilla self and his cut beard, it kinda turned Golden on looking at his ass, but Golden already been through shit with heartbreak and he just finished repairing it, but Donald was sooo cute!

"Alright this place is like super cozy, close to everything, gay nightlife just across the river and it's going for $1600 per month but the owner willing to negotiate," said Donald

Golden watched as Donald walked out with a frown on his face, but after all the drama he didn't feel like going through that again, but at the same time he could've turned down a really good man. But golden was determined to focus on himself, and being that he was in Portland now, he wanted to live more and see what was out here, so he went to Queer an Folks, a social club in downtown, where every night they have like a group therapy session

"Ok we're gonna go in a circle say your name and the reason you're here," said Ms. Tiller

"Hi my name is Stephanie, and I'm here because I was abused for many years by my father for being a lesbian,"

"Hi My name is Kelly and I was born a boy but I'm transitioning to female, I was assaulted by my own cousins actually and it scarred me for years,"

"Hi my name is Quincy and I almost committed suicide because people including my family members kept taunting me about my sexuality, I had actually had the pills in my hand but my best friend came just in time,"

"Alright and you young man," said Ms. Tiller

"My name is Golden and I just moved here from Louisiana from a very homophobic and racist family, I had a boy who I was deep in love with who was black and the things they called him were just derogatory, and then they kicked me out for being gay so I stayed at the only gay shelter in town and i met this boy named Alex I thought he was cool but then he tried sexually assault me, and then my parents got killed right after I tried to mend fences and that's my story,"

"Omg I feel sorry for you," said Kelly

"Wow you went thru a lot, I can only imagine my parents being racist on top of homophobic,"

And Golden felt so much love from the group it made him cry a lil bit. He never had this type of closeness back in Shreveport and it made him feel like his life actually mattered, and then he rethought about Donald, and maybe givin him a chance.

A week has past and Golden was doing well on his own, he attended the group therapy which made him feel better and he got a job working at the post office as a mailman. On his off times he went down to the writers spots in downtown and east side telling his writing and having fun and doing something he never did before, he was finding himself! One night he walked out of a social club when, fate had it, he bumped into Donald

"Wow it must be a coincidence that we both ran into each other," said Donald

"Yeah, you know I was thinkin, about the other day and I was wonderin....."

"I'll go out with you!" Said Donald

"You know there like a burger joint up the road if you're hungry,"

Then Golden went with Donald to this burger joint, where they had a lil dinner. "Wow well my parents were worse I mean they were racist on top of homophobic, like I sound sooo mean but I don't really miss them now they're both dead, they really hurt me,"

"Wow I'm so sorry about that, you been through so much,"

"Yeah I know then I checked into this gay alliance center it's like a homeless shelter, and I met this guy named Alex and he was like so caring at first but then he got drunk and he tried to assault me,"

"My god, like I wanna give you a hug right now," said Donald

After the date was over Donald took Golden home, and Golden was starting to enjoy Donald's company,

"I had a really great time tonight,"

"Me too, I wanna see you again, I mean we can take it slow, don't have to rush into anything," said Donald

"I like that," said golden as he went inside

As the weeks past, Golden and Donald slowly formed a relationship! Almost every night they went on a date, they enjoyed having each other around and felt closer together! And then after a month of dating, Donald and Golden shared a kiss while at the hilltop park, overlooking the city! And Golden thought to himself, after all that be been through.....could Donald be the one?

The next day after that kiss Golden was doing his mail route, when he had to deliver a package that said "Emmanuel" on it! Golden almost had a heart attack! Could Emmanuel, the boy that had his heart on lockdown be here? Thinking it was just a coincidence, Golden went to the address and knocked on the door......

"Hold up, what guy are you seeing what are you talking about Golden, we belong together!"

"I know but it's nothin serious....."

"NOTHIN SERIOUS, FATE BROUGHT US TOGETHER WE WERE IN LOVE, HOW CAN YOU TELL ME ITS NOTHIN SERIOUS!" Shouted Emmanuel as he obviously was hurt

"Look ok I'm sorry, but you were gone and I was lonely please understand, I STILL THINK ABOUT YOU NIGHT AN DAY, YOUR ALWAYS IN MY HEART!" Shouted Golden

"But I'm not in your arms Golden, I wanna be in your arms, I wanna hold you not watch you love from the distance.....look I can't stop you from seeing other people, but just know that I love you," said a sad Emmanuel

"I gotta go," said a sad Golden

Then what was supposed to be a sweet reunion suddenly turned sour. Golden told Emmanuel about Donald and he immediately felt bad about it, knowing that he really still loved Emmanuel, which meant Golden had to choose between the man who brought him long overdue happiness, and the man who he can never stop thinking about!

When Golden came back to his apartment he got a text from Donald, and he wanted to meet up at his place in the hills, which overlooked all of Portland and the mountains. When he came inside, Donald had champagne bottles chilling and had a nice dinner set up, a fire burning in the fire place, it was kinda romantic. But watching all this reminded of Golden of what Emmanuel used to do for him, all the romance, and the more he kept thinkin about him, the more he REALLY wanted to be with him!

"You know this champagne is very good," said Golden

"Not as good as you tho, why the long face?" Asked Donald

Then to Golden's surprise, EMMANUEL PULLED OUT THIS DIAMOND RING FROM THE PICNIC BASKET!!!!

"I want you to be my life partner, my prince, Golden will you marry me?"

Golden felt as he was living a dream, he was going to marry the boy he could barely talk to at school! Then Golden shedding tears of joy, called up his friend Denise,

"DENISE, DENISE, ME AMD EMMANUEL ARE GETTIN MARRIED!" Shouted golden on the phone

Then Golden and Emmanuel kissed each other with passion, for it was a long time comin, and the road for Golden was rough, but he didn't give up on love, and now he has the man of his dreams on his arms!

It was the day of the wedding, and Golden and Emmanuel were both dressed in white, and had the wedding at the same stretch of Oregon coast where Emmanuel proposed! Golden's friends were there, and Emmanuel's very supportive mother was there too, for it was a small wedding but that was okay just as the couple had each other!

They were about to say their vows to each other, when Golden wanted to read a lil poem he wrote,

"To my life partner Emmanuel, you are the joy when I'm sad, you are the good when it's bad, sometimes I shed tears, but you wipe them away, and you light up my life, even when the sky is gray, babe you are and always will be everything, if I don't have you I have nothing, and even when I was without you, you we're still on my mind, cause love like that never dies, I love you Emmanuel," said an emotional Golden

"Wow, I have nothing else to say, except that I love you, and I'll always love you Golden," said Emmanuel as he smiled from that beautiful poem

"Then I now pronounce you two life partners, you may now kiss the groom,"

Then Golden and Emmanuel kissed and we're now a married couple! Months After the two got married, they soon bought a house together in the Portland area, and then they had two pet dogs, to complete the family. Sometimes Golden thought about how his parents would've reacted had they lived? But then he remembers the pain they caused on his relationship and figured maybe they wouldn't even shown up. And for their honeymoon Emmanuel took Golden to Wyoming mountains, where they made fiery hot passionate love in the cabin that Golden would remember forever!

And after all Golden been through, and the men that came an go, his love for Emmanuel remained strong......CAUSE TRUE LOVE NEVER DIES!
