Part 4: A Real Gentleman

“That dream again...” Cole thought to himself. It was the same dream as before: standing alone in a dark setting, embraced from behind by a mysterious figure, before waking up. Cole first had this dream prior to his loss to Carter in the prison fighting games. It was strange and bothered him somewhat, but he quickly brushed his concerns aside to get on with his day.

It had been nearly two weeks since Justin's acquittal and departure from Goldstone. Cole found he had to once again adjust to life in prison... alone. He could only continue to better himself physically and mentally and as each day passed, he was closer and closer to the day he would be released from prison. An entire year had subsided quickly.

It was a Wednesday at noon when Cole was in his workout space, training hard as always, but the summer season was certainly not helping matters. The heat was intense as he pressed on with his training. Having a standing fan in his cell helped, but not that much. Regardless, since winning his rematch against Carter, he was far from willing to slack off on his training as he believed he would face him once again in another fight. It was a hot summer day and instead of training in his clothing, Cole opted to train only in his boxers and tennis shoes.

After getting through a brutal segment, Cole retreated back into his cell, sitting on the edge of the bed, coated in sweat, allowing his fan and an ice bottle of water to cool off. While winding down from a tough workout, there was a knock at his cell door.

Cole: Come in.

Matt: Lunchtime, champ. Steamed broccoli with rice, and a bottle of water.

Cole: As usual, thanks, man.

Matt: You're welcome, but uh... to be honest, I know I'd be better off with what's served in the prison cafeteria.

Cole: I have to watch what I eat. Friday's approaching; need to make sure I'm on top of my game.

Matt: So, did you hear about Carter?

Cole: No, what happened?

Matt: Nothing yet. Kid's got a new trial today. His lawyer was able to make it happen.

Cole: So, what does that mean?

Matt: He may go free.

Cole: Seriously?! Even after he's convicted of attempted murder?

Matt: I don't know much, but according to Officer Mason, he could be released on grounds for lack of evidence. You just might be rid of that fucker.

Cole: Huh. Well, we'll see, won't we?

Matt: Any who, you enjoy the rest of your day. Let me know if you need anything else.

Cole: Of course.

The following Thursday proved to be a particularly quiet day; the perfect time for Cole to sharpen his mind. He was engaged in some peaceful reading in the prison library when suddenly, he heard a faint commotion from outside. It was not unusual to hear shouting at the complex, but what followed were the sights of at least three guards dashing towards the exit. Something was going down. Allowing curiosity to prevail once again, Cole ceased his reading time to see what was happening. He exited the building, and from a distance, he could see one fellow inmate pinned to the ground by another inmate; the latter utilizing a series of punching fists on the face of the helpless inmate. The guards had broken up the skirmish. The assailant was forcibly taken to Area D by the prison guards and as he got closer, Cole saw that it was his younger rival, Carter.

As Carter was being whisked back into his cell, his expression was one that Cole did not expect at all. There was no trace of a smile or the arrogant satisfaction of inflicting pain on another. What Cole saw was a young inmate with visible tears emitting from his eyes; a genuine look of sadness. Carter was being taken back to his cell, but not before exchanging looks with Cole, although the stare was only for a second.

Going about his own business, Cole decided to retreat back to his cell. He opted to train later into the evening with the hopes that the temperatures will settle down. For the time being, he chose to relax and watch some television. As he approached the entrance to his cell, he could see the Warden with Officer Curtis Jones having a word with Carter. There was certainly some bad tension as the argument between the Warden and Carter echoed throughout the halls.

Carter: I just want to be left alone!

Warden: You listen to me, boy! I've got zero fucks to give about your feelings right now. You're out of the games, so you go back to the general cells. After what you did to Rogers out there, I'm sure that's good news for the other inmates.

Carter: What do you mean?

Warden: Well, it's simple, really. Those other men... they are really looking forward to laying into you now. Prison guards are gonna try and stop it, of course, but how much damage is done by the time those boys are done with you?

Carter: We both know I can handle them.

Warden: Oh, really? Well, sure, maybe... seven at the most. But I know for a fact that at least three times that number of inmates are serving life sentences for rape and murder. No remorse, mind you. All who don't mind getting their grubby hooks on a scar-faced but pretty boy like you. But this is your last chance... you're back in the games or you're within an arm's reach with those other lunatics day and night.

Carter:..... no.

Warden: Curtis, you and Dennis make sure that this one is back in the general cells with the other pieces of shit.

Officer Jones: Yes, sir.

As he was witnessing this scenario, Cole became conflicted. Despite the young inmate's antagonistic behavior, all was not as it seemed, thanks to some information from he received from Justin. There were certain revelations on Justin's final night at Goldstone on the type of person that Carter truly was when behind closed doors. Cole looked down at the ground, becoming lost in thought as he recalled the night when he and Justin (willingly) had sex before engaging in hours-long conversation into the middle of the night as they had cuddled into one bed.

Flashback...

Cole: So, about Carter... you were kind of cryptic on how things were not as bad with him. How so?

Justin: After, what we just did... sure you want the details?

Cole: Of course. I'm all ears.

Justin: Well, being the biggest prison bitch was certainly not something I was looking forward to... again, but there I was forced to service Carter. He was aggressive at first, especially when Officer Mason was there, and took no time in making sure he got a piece of the action...

Cole: That I remembered. He told me to leave you and Carter at it. So, what happened afterward?

Carter: It was just me and Carter... alone. When things became private, he revealed a side of him that caught me by surprise... big time.

Justin got into the details of his first night with Carter. It was after Officer Mason left and the prison doors were on the verge of lock-down. “Thought he never leave”, Carter said, as he moved Justin from his doggy-style stance and positioned him back-first in the middle of the bed, placing two pillows on the back of the latter's head. Carter held both of Justin's legs back as he leaned down and proceeded to rim Justin. “Oh my god!” Justin gasped the moment when Carter's tongue massaged the former's anus. Justin noted how no one up until this point has ever given him a rim job before. Justin's squeals of pleasure and his rock-hard cock prompted Carter to fuck him once again but in slower strokes this time. Carter was much more gentle during this phase of their “consummation”, and more sensual, even going as far as to lean down and kiss Justin; first on the lips, then on the neck. Justin was reluctant to admit it, be he loved every minute of it. As their fucking continued, Carter started to groan as he pulled out his seven-and-a-half-inch meat from inside Justin and “shot buckets”.

Carter: That was some good ass, man. **kissing Justin** Here's a towel.

Justin: Thanks.

Carter: Ha. What? Not good enough? You seemed to enjoy it.

Justin: That's the thing... I did enjoy it... a lot. Something I did not think would happen. Don't know how I feel right now.

Carter: Because of Cole?

Justin: Yes.

Carter: Believe it or not, I respect the guy. He's gonna be fine, you know.

Justin: I know, but...

Carter: Look, I just want to make my time here as easy as possible.

Justin: So, I guess I shouldn't do anything to piss you off, right?

Carter: It's not like that.

Justin: It's really Cole you want on this bed instead of me, isn't it?

Carter:..... Think I'm gonna plead the fifth.

Justin: Fair enough.

Cole also learned that during the weeks with Carter Justin did certain favors for him, but the same was true for what Carter did for Justin. For instance, Carter knew how much Justin hated Officer Mason, and ensured that the corrupt prison guard would stay away from him for the remainder of Justin's time in prison. But Cole had a difficult time believing this.

Cole: So, he had you thinking that he was a “nice guy”?

Justin: For the most part, he is.

Cole: Yeah sure. Did he ever tell you about--

Justin: …..The bet you two made while at the showers?

Cole: What do you know about that?

Justin: How my life was gonna be a living hell if he couldn't have you? It was a bluff. He told me just hours before your rematch.

Cole: What the fuck! Why?

Justin: He um... he likes you... really likes you.

Cole: You gotta be fucking kidding me...

Justin: He's been a jerk to you, I know. But maybe, given some time, you'll probably get to see that side of him that you would want to see. Maybe.

Cole: I doubt it. If what you say is true, then he's already shown me that he's manipulative by making that bogus bet. If anything, he's more fucked up than he's letting on.

Justin: I do believe he's just going through a tough time being in prison. He never told me about what happened that led him here, but... I have this... feeling... that there's more to why he's behind bars. I couldn't shake it for a long time.

Cole: What, I'm supposed to get chummy with him after you leave?

Justin: Sorry, I just wanted to...

Cole: No, no. It's alright. Maybe, for you, I'll see what's this kid's deal.

Cole was immediately snapped out of reminiscing when he was greeted by Warden Parsley.

Warden: Well, hello there, champ! Everything alright?

Cole: Yes, sir. I'm just taking notice of the show.

Warden: Well, you should be happy; this kid's out of the games. Things are gonna be a lot easier from now on. I mean, look at you... better than ever. Those other fighters won't have much of a chance now, will they?

Cole: Thank you, sir.

Warden: Listen, I know the games are supposed to be tomorrow, but I decided that it's gonna be postponed for another two weeks; just for the sake of the fighters getting a little bit of a break. So, that means you get to enjoy some more peace and quiet.

Cole: That's very considerate, sir.

Warden: Absolutely, champ. Now, let me know if you need anything else.

Cole: Actually, sir, there is one thing I would like: a new cellmate.

Warden: Huh. Got someone in mind?

Cole: **looking over the Warden's shoulder**

Warden: You're yankin' my chain. Very funny.

Cole: I'm serious, sir.

Warden: Okay that's.... confusing as fuck. Why would you...

Cole: Sir, please. This kid's got potential. I just don't want to see that go to waste.

Warden: I see. Well, you are the reigning champ, so your request is granted.

Cole: Thank you, sir.

Warden: **walks over to Carter** Change of plans, my boy. You got a new cellmate.

Carter: Who?

Warden: **turning Carter's attention to Cole** Looks like you can take your time in packing your things since your new cell is a few steps away. But don't take all day.

The look on Carter's face showed that he was confused. All of a sudden, Cole had chosen him to be his next cellmate after Justin. Carter was quick to confront Cole about this development.

Carter: Was this your idea?

Cole: You can say that.

Carter: What, you're doing this out of pity or something? Because I don't need it.

Cole: I'm doing this for Justin. Let's just say he put in a good word for you.

Carter: Did he?

Cole: So, how about it? Roomies?

Carter:... You got it.

Carter retreated back to his pending former cell to gather his things, while Cole sat on the edge of his bed. He stared at the vacant bed across from him; which use to be his best friend's bed. “I hope this is worth, it Justin” Cole uttered to himself. The cell door opened, and there he was: Carter, the scar-faced young menace, now Cole's former rival-turned-roommate. Another awkward stare-down occurred between the two toughest inmates at Goldstone once again; Cole looked into the eyes of his younger, bigger, and stronger opponent whom he had faced in a fight twice. “Welcome,” Cole said as he reached out for a handshake; the latter now shaking hands with whom (according to Justin) has a certain fondness. This new arrangement was still unsettling to Cole, but little would he realize that thanks to Justin, he made the right call. Little would Cole know that Carter's fate would be in his hands.

To be continued...
