For well over 40 years, Playgirl has been a legend. With a focus on model-quality men, the magazine carved out a niche for itself. Playgirl has addressed their magazine to a primarily female audience, but has always had plenty to offer male readers who are into the type of handsome hunks that are the Playgirl specialty. And there are plenty of them here, from all-American jocks next door to guys who went on to do porn, bodybuilders and jocks, as well as model-quality guys with athletic swimmer physiques. Playgirl Plus brings us back to the Playgirl roots, but with a sleek, modern layout and even more sexy men to drool over.

The site shows off its men - mostly well-built hunks, some very muscular while others are fit and sexy - in exclusive solo photo shoots. And the newest content also offers the models in good quality videos and interviews as well. The latest men are varied. Sam is a man-next-door type with a hairy body, a mustache, a relaxed smile and a great body, and he looks really hot wearing a pair of jeans or without them. The latest man is Ari, a fit, athletic, and heavily tattooed guy who rides a motorcycle, loves to work out, and doesn't mind treating us to a little full frontal nudity. Or there's Joe D. Martinez, absolutely gorgeous, who loves hiking, mixed martial arts and - I kid you not - walks on the beach. Each man's page lists his Instagram account, his model agency (if any), height, age, weight, and astrological sign.

And then there's the magazine issues, which harken back to the days when the magazine was a powerhouse in showing off the male form naked, if not explicit, for the titillation of the American public. There are 24 magazine issues in the PlaygirlPlus archives running from the 1970s (including the infamous Burt Reynolds issue) to 2007. I liked what I found here, but I found navigating each issue to be a little clunky. For me, it was easier to browse the content by sections - Centerfolds, Celebs, Interviews, and Articles - which offers content from the magazines in an easier-to-navigate format.

I found an interview with Tom Selleck, a profile of Dolly Parton, an interview with wrestling's Shawn Michaels, "at home" with Michael Caine, chatting with Margaret Cho, Jerry Springer, Mario Van Peebles, and more. The 36 interviews are from 1973 through 2007, and I enjoyed getting to know my fave celebrities as well as seeing how they've changed over the years.

The good news is that Playgirl Plus has started adding new content in February of this year (it's 2022). They just added their fifth Man of the Month in updates, which makes five new episodes so far. Each of the men has a profile, a video that shows him off shirtless, dressed, in underwear, and these are very sexy and professionally shot. All but one man also has an interview video so we can get to know him better, a photo set shown in a strip that includes various attire, underwear, and nude shots, although this is Playgirl, so we don't expect any masturbation, just very sexy guys.

These men's videos are offered in MP4 format, and you can download them in three sizes up to 1920x1080 at good quality. You can also stream the videos in a player sized at 1300x728, also at good quality, and they enlarge to full screen pretty well. The site worked fine and the videos looked great on my phone and tablet.

Each man in the new updates has a photo set. These are good quality digital stills, the online versions sized at 1200x1600, but if you download the zip files, you get the full-sized photos at a whopping 3840x5760. Once you click a picture, you're taken to the viewer where you'll find slideshow controls and pic to pic navigation.

In addition to the newest content, there are 24 magazine issues in the PlaygirlPlus archives running from the 1970s, but I found navigating each issue to be a little clunky. I found it easier to browse the content by Centerfolds, Celebs, Interviews, and Articles, which offers content from the magazines in an easier-to-navigate format. I found lots of interviews from 1973 through 2007, and I enjoyed reading them.

There's one more section - Erotic Fiction. There are 43 fantasies and stories written from the female perspective. The stories are all from the magazines, and they're satisfyingly long and well-written. There are stories about sex with a cop, sex with the guy at the bachelorette party, and some reader fantasies sent to the magazine.

Let's talk about updates. PlaygirlPlus has added content during pre-launch, but as far as I know, they only officially relaunched. They say they'll add a new "Man of the Month" with video, interview, gallery, and behind-the-scenes footage once a month. They also say they're bringing the "iconic Playgirl Magazine online with weekly updates," which will include two full magazine issues and original photo sets from their vault. They added a new Man of the Month on June 17 while I worked on this review.

Let's talk about downsides. First, the site isn't as large as I'd have expected considering the many years that Playgirl Magazine was available. The archive currently offers 24 full episodes of Playgirl, so you'll have lots to see and read, especially since they say they'll be adding two issues per month, but I believe there were 432 issues released between 1973 and 2009, so I was expecting more. While I really like the new Man of the Month updates with the videos, good quality photos, and interviews, there are only five so far, and they plan to add one per month. The navigation in the archives is, as mentioned, not the most intuitive. And the older parts from magazines may be scanned from the original paper versions, but that's to be expected.

For many years, Playgirl was a celebration of men and all the ways they are sexy, and Playgirl Plus seems to continue this tradition with hot men worth drooling over. The new Man of the Month section, found in Updates, is where you'll find the latest content, with modern, good quality videos, professionally shot pics, interviews and more. And when you're ready for more hot guys, you can either spend time perusing 24 classic Playgirl magazines or go right for those sexy guys in the Centerfolds section. And when you're done there, you can read articles and interviews. The site will be adding a Man of the Month, two classic Playgirl issues, plus a pictorial every month. If you're a fan of the men of Playgirl, this is a great way to see all those hot men from the '70s through the 2000s, plus those hot guys in their new productions.
