GayDemon's review of HM Boys

HMBoys is all about twinks and guys between 18 and 24 years old from all over the world. They've got a good mix of solo and hardcore content, some very cute twink models, and they shoot their own pics and videos. HMBoys stands "Home Made Boys", which apparently refers to boy-next-door types. And there are a lot of those here - the kind of guys you see around the neighborhood, at the local park or college. This isn't our first visit to the site, but after more than 6 years online, the site owners decided to do a makeover, and this is my first look at the new member area and tour. So far, I like what I see - everything is sleek, modern and the new tour lets you can browse previews of all the video or pic sets easily. The member area looks almost exactly like the tour, so let's get right to the content!

All the 96 videos inside HMBoys are offered in your choice of Real or streaming Flash formats. The Real videos are offered in several long clips and are shown at 320x240. The newer vids have a bitrate of around 1000k,and they look good at their original size and don't lose too much quality if you enlarge them. The older downloadable videos have a bitrate of about 225k, and they're not as high in quality as the new vids. In fact, I don't recommend enlarging them at all.

For those who aren't into Real format or who just want to watch the movie immediately, each video is offered as a Flash movie in an embedded player. These vids are shown at about 470x360, newer vids fairly good qualtiy and the older are on the amateur side.

When I first started downloading the newer videos, I noticed what seemed to be an unfamiliar video format. The newer videos are the latest version of Real, so instead of the video names ending in .rm, they now end in .rmvb, which I had not seen before. Luckily my Real Player recognized them and played them just fine.

HMBoys also has 476 pic sets. The newer sets offer pics with a screen size of 768x1024 and the older pics are shown at 480x640. The newer pics are good amateur quality or better while the older ones are a bit lower on the quality scale and show a few more minor lighting issues. The pics include a good number of closeups and some rather creative angles to show off the boys and their packages well. Each pic set is offered as thumbnail gallery, a hands-free slideshow and can be downloaded as a zip file. My only complaint about the pics sets overall is that each gallery is only a single page, which means that you must wait for anywhere from 60 to over 200 thumbs to load on a single page.

HMBoys has some interesting bonuses and features. Their "BoyFinder" is a search feature that I found pretty useful, allowing members to search by type of content, cock type, ethnicity or hair type as well as by name. Next comes the Dick Detective, which is a contest where members guess which HMBoys model's cock is shown each month and can win a free DVD or free access to another twink site. And there's some nice bonus content, too. My favorite were the 2 "Cartoon Stories" in the stories section. Each were hot stories and illustrated with very sexy and colorful twink cartoons. The site also offers a nice-sized text story archive, 2 live cam houses with 24/7 live cams and chat, and access to the Citiboys Theater, which offers scenes from 36 of their DVD titles.

I did run into a couple issues. One is that during the time that the site owners have been working to add the new tour and member area there have been no video updates, although video updates have started again and the pic sets never stopped updating. The other issue is rather odd. When I logged into the site, a dialogue box popped up that said I was using an invalid username and password, but I did get right into the member area so don't worry if you get that same message when you go to log into the site.

The photos update every week, but during the time that the site was being redone the video updates stopped. They have now started adding new videos again, so it looks like things are back to normal.
