What is gay foreplay?

What is foreplay?

Engaging in the sexual arousal of another, prior to actually engaging in penetrative sex or in achieving an orgasm.

Definition

The varied actions, that imply a willingness to engage in sexual intercourse, as well as to help stimulate each other, through a progression of embraces, kissing, touching, and other associated acts. This can include the use of various external devices, such as sex toys, to help arouse one's partner.

Foreplay is a prelude to engaging in sexual intercourse, when that is the goal, and primary purpose. When there is no intention of sexual intercourse, it is merely considered to be 'erotic flirting' at best, teasing at worst.

History

There are many historical references to foreplay, mostly noted within various art works and paintings. Many works show couples engaged in intimate embraces, or in particular poses, that are intended to arouse another.

It is also detailed within the Kama Sutra, with several references to kissing, embraces, and touching.

About

There are many historical references to foreplay, mostly noted within various art works and paintings. Many works show couples engaged in intimate embraces, or in particular poses, that are intended to arouse another.

Foreplay can begin with a mere glance, or look, that is returned, that leads to other forms of foreplay. It can be extremely subtle in the beginning, which can lead to confusion at times, hence some are termed 'teases' because they fail to follow up on the other's sexual overtones.

The way one looks at another, how they brush past them, can all be forms of initial foreplay, or advances. It generally culminates at the beginning of sexual intercourse.

Foreplay takes many forms, which include direct physical contact between two parties, and the sexual organs. Mostly it is a procedure, or sexual play, that progresses in intensity.

It can begin, by a simple discussion, of sexual needs, to explicit discussion of sexual needs or desires between two consenting persons.

It usually evolves, into more intimate touching, caressing, and kissing, of various body parts, to relax both parties, to become accustomed to each other. This can begin with a sensual removal of one's clothing, or of the other person's clothing.

Kissing and touching are the most often used methods of foreplay, along with associated words, sounds. It can be as simple as running the hand down the length of a person's body, a stare, a soft kiss, to increased body massage, and stimulation.

Practice (Associated Acts): While the primary goal is to arouse a person, foreplay is also a way to break down inhibitions, to make a person more comfortable with the sexual situation, which can be from showing tenderness, to desire.

It is an exercise in breaking down the other's mental barriers for sexual intercourse, as well as to heighten the desire, or lust of the other.

Verbal stimulation is one such way of making a person relaxed, comfortable, accompanied by soft touches, gentle kisses, that evolve into more passionate embraces, touching, and arousal.

Noteworthy: It was believed that women required more foreplay, in order to become fully aroused, sexually. However a study from McGill University showed that both men and women required approximately the same amount of time, usually ten minutes, to become fully aroused.

Thermal imaging was used to aid in reaching this conclusion.
