Uniquely British term, from the late 1800's to early 1900's that was in reference to the pubic hairs of a person. Black Jock was for the male. Black Bess denoted the female pubic hairs.

Definition

Was used more in reference to the hair being darker than hair exposed on the head or upper body. Didn't imply color.
