What is serotype?
A grouping of micro organism, in the serum, from their cell structure, composition.
Definition
A manner in which Science can group similar agents, that are created from bacterial or viral infections. It can be used to determine the strain strength, type of strain a person is infected with, or not.
A way to categorize the organisms found, into sub species, to better detect, to better treat.
Noteworthy: Salmonella for example has Over 4400 serovars, that help determine the strain, and the proper course of treatment, as well as what further tests might be appropriate.
The agent that causes Cholera (Vibrio cholerea) on the other hand, has about 139 Serotypes.
