History

Varied opinion exist on how this came into being.

Some claim it is due to the She Male genre found in Western Culture, while other's claim it is more akin to Yuri, or is a more natural extension of Yuri (Lesbian themed Manga)

About

Most depictions are the morphing from female to including male body parts. Purists consider the drawings must include a vagina, in addition to the penis, to be true to the genre.

While possible, to have the character begin as a male, then transform to including female sex organs, it is considered rare, and less popular. The addition of male genitals, are believed to be more in line with the Lesbian use of strap on dildos.

Practice (Associated Acts): Some claim that the addition of enlarged penises, or the transformation of the central characters to include male genitals, is to allow a wider audience, to empathize with the characters.

The thought being, that a man will be able to have more empathy.

While keeping to a more Lesbian theme, the development of the male genitals, can allow the male viewer, observer, to relate better to the story, or so the thinking goes.

Noteworthy: There are several forms, in which the character may take shape. One is where they have the full genitalia of both sexes. In this form, the penis usually appears above the clitoris and vagina. Usually the penis is given unrealistic proportions, to highlight it's sudden appearance.

A second form is where the penis takes the place of the clitoris. Third form, is a variation of the first two. In most instances this usually is where the male testicles are omitted in the drawings.

A fourth manner is when the female parts are overly exaggerated, but no obvious male genitals are drawn.
