I'm Joe Spunk and run the blog here on GayDemon.

I first got online a little before the turn of the century. We surfed the Web with dial-up modems back then, noisy things that squeaked and squawked while the connection was made. Surfing makes it sound like things moved quickly, but by today's standards, they moved at a snail's pace.

Porn back then was pictures. We posted them and viewed them in newsgroups, and I loved collecting and sorting them. I amassed such a collection that I found ways to organize them and wondered how I might eventually share them all with the world.

At the time I was working for a video store in my gaybourhood, and I was teaching myself Photoshop and web design. One day I saw a poster in the store's lobby offering a junior web designer position, and among the requirements was an open-mindedness around gay adult content. I ended up with a job working for a company that sold adult verification memberships and got to design porn sites for them. Things went great for a couple of years, then I was restructured out of my job.

I liked working in porn and didn't want a mainstream corporate job. So I bought some picture sets and started my own site. And eventually, after a couple of years, I put out feelers looking for gig work, and a buddy suggested I contact Bjorn at GayDemon. I got an assignment writing a porn site review, then another, and another.

I continued to operate my own sites including one called Joe Spunk, but the porn landscape was changing quickly. I found other ways to make money and started my own porn directory. I also ran a number of porn blogs, and eventually I launched a membership site with a couple of buddies of mine and we showcased hairy men and muscle bears.

All the while, I took on more work from GayDemon. But Pornland shifted yet again – it always does, and quickly – and I started shutting down my sites that weren't profitable, and eventually Joe Spunk was the only properly I was running. In 2017, I took over GayDemon's blog as its editor and principle writer, and that, along with my other duties, didn't leave much time to work on my own site and I eventually shut it down.

It's unbelievable when I realize that I've been working for GayDemon for 11 years. I like running the blog because it lets me highlight all kinds of guys from horny twinks to hairy men. I love my job. There's nothing more exciting than waking up every morning and sifting through my inbox looking for something that turns my crank, and what I think will also turn yours.

People think I sit around jacking off all day, but nothing is further from the truth. This is a job just like any other. But I have a fun sex life in other ways and sometimes my stories about hook-ups and weekend escapades at the baths work their way into my blog posts.

Having conversations with you is another bright spot. I love finding out what turns you on so I can make the blog a more exciting place. So, that's me, and if you want to drop me a line, please do, I'd love to hear from you.
