I sat at my desk thinking about all that happened. I had my pen in my hand, but there was no ink on the page.
'God this is pointless.' I said to myself, closing the book and putting my head down.
The entire thing was such a waste of time. I knew what was going to happen; I knew that this was going to turn out this way, yet I still went for it.
I opened my journal back up and put the date of the cruise at the top of the page.
'Here goes nothing,' I said. I took a deep breath and started to write.
I was on my way to the airport. My dad, Riley, said he'd drive me to the airport. I was never really close with him, but I figured he wanted to talk to me before I left. We were about halfway there before he finally broke the silence.
'Are you excited?' He asked, taking his eyes off of the road for a second then looking back at it.
'About the cruise? Nah.' I waved my hand at him.
'Haha, sure, just don't get into trouble, alright?' He said succinctly.
'Okay, dad, I'm not a little kid anymore.' I started to get annoyed. He was always treating me like I had no brain in my head.
'I'm just letting you know,' he turned down a street, 'and you are still a kid! You're only eighteen!' He chuckled a little.
I didn't find this funny. It was really frustrating me that he still treated me like a child.
'Okay, I'll stop.' He said. He turned into the airport's parking lot.
'Thanks. I'll keep in touch.' I said. I gave him a hug and opened the car door.
'You better! Your mother is a mess as it is.' He winked at me.
'It's not like I haven't traveled alone before, dad, I don't see why she's getting all teary eyed now.' I opened the back door and pulled out my three bags.
'Because it's a cruise that you'll be gone on for the next two weeks. I'm not really sure, but I think she's going to miss you or something.'
'Very funny. Well, tell her that I'll miss her too when you get back home.' I said, carrying my suitcase along with my carry on and rolling bag.
'Why don't you just call her?' He asked.
'I'm turning my cell off until I get there.'
'No!' He gasped, 'what will you do without your cell phone for two hours?'
'Enough with the sarcasm, okay?' I laughed a little bit and closed the passenger side door.
'Fine. Have a nice trip, Andy.' He stared at me for a couple of seconds and then pulled away. I waved and turned around, walking into the airport entrance.
The airport was busier than ever. It looked like everyone was packed within eight inches of each other. I managed my way through the crowed (accompanied by some nudges and distasteful words) and went to the lounge area. Surprisingly, there weren't very many people there. There was a family of five: a mom, dad, two boys, and one girl, two pairs of couples, and one guy sitting at an end of an empty row. I looked over at him and decided to sit with a seat in between us.
I walked over and sat down, setting my things in front of me. The guy looked over at me and gave me a friendly smile; he was really cute. He had brown hair and eyes, a little bit of facial hair, looked to be buff, and had adorable facial features. His smile sent shivers up my spine; it was almost like he was trying to hear what I was thinking.
I smiled back and reached in my pocket to take out my phone. There were new texts, but I was more interested in looking at the guy sitting a seat away from me. I'm into the nonchalant type of flirting, I'm more of a let it be known type of guy.
'Where are you off to?' I asked, breaking the silence.
He looked up from a magazine, 'I'm going on a cruise to the Bahamas. What about you?'
My heart leapt, 'so am I!'
'I think we'll be on the same one, then!' He shut his magazine and shifted in his seat to face me, 'what's your name?'
'Andy, yours?'
'Ryan. So, Andy, how old are you?' He had a grin on his face.
'Eighteen. I just graduated. What about you?' I looked at the bulge in his pants. It was huge!
'I'm twenty. Wow, I remember high school. Makes me glad that I'm done with it, ya know?' He giggled.
I giggled politely and shook my head.
He gave another smile and moved a seat closer. We talked until I heard my flight being announced. I stood up and looked over; he got his stuff and stood up as well.
'I guess we really are going to be on the same cruise.' He laughed a little.
'Are you flying first?' I started to walk.
He followed, 'mhhm, you?'
'Yeah!' I smiled and waited to be allowed on the plane.
We boarded and waited in our seats. His was across from mine and all the way during the flight we kept playfully smiling at each other; making funny faces and things like that.
The plan landed in Key West, Florida. I got to the luggage area and waited for my things.
'Mind if I stand here?' A voice said from my side. I looked over to find Ryan staring at me.
'Not at all,' I started to blush, 'be my guest.'
He bumped into me and gave a quick glance to me, 'sorry, I'm clumsy.' He winked.
I giggled a little bit and nudge back, 'I guess we match then.'
I got my luggage and waited for Ryan to get his. The airport was near the cruise site, so the cruise director arraigned for buses to pick up the passengers from the airport. Ryan and I sat together.
'Wanna give me your number?' He asked.
I looked at him, 'huh?'
'Your number, you know, your cell number?' He laughed.
I smiled and blurted it out.
'Okay, well, are you excited for the cruise?' He called my number so that I had his number.
'Yeah, really excited.' I scooted a little towards him, 'what about you?'
'Now that I've seen who's on it, yeah.' He smiled and gave me a wink.
We spent the rest of the ride flirting. He told me what he did, where he lived, and what he liked to do.
'What about yourself?' He asked. His hand rested on my leg.
'Well I dance and play soccer' I was looking at his hand travel farther up my leg; it was on my thigh.
'What kid of dance?' He asked in a low voice.
'Ballet, hip-hop, and lyrical.' I half said, half moaned.
'Hmm, I take it you're flexible?' He whispered in my ear.
My head was racing. This guy turned me from being jolly and happy to horny and bothered.
'Only if you want me to be.' I whispered back.
The bus came to a stop and the guide picked up the microphone.
'We've arrived at the shipping site. Have a great cruise.'
More to come.
