After going through the grueling security, Rex waited with everyone else who was there to see family members or friends. He looked around anxiously, pulling at his tie before he started tapping his foot. As he leaned his head back with a deep breath a white haired man dressed in a suave suit caught his attention. Their eyes met, the man flashed him a smile through his nicely kept white beard. His dusty bluish-gray eyes sparkled with immediate interest as he made his way over to him.

"Well, aren't you a sight for sore eyes?" the man asked in an Irish Russian mixed accent, "You're definitely not a regular around here. The waiting isn't as hard as the actual visit. Not knowing what to talk about and what's off limits... It's the hardest. "

Rex looked at him, giving him a benign smile, "You're not kidding... How can it be so nerve wrecking to talk to someone you've lived with forever?" he asked, with a nervous laugh.

"Makes you wonder..." the man said with a laugh, "The name's Wrené Crowne by the way." he said, putting his hand out for him to shake.

"Rexalynn-- no last name at the moment. Long story." he said, shaking Wrené's hand.

"Sounds like it'd be a good one. But you can be like those mononymous celebrities; Madonna, Beyonce, Cher..."

"Indeed. So, if you don't mind me saying... you don't look like someone who'd be visiting a place like this, either. Not that I'd know. This is my first time coming here."

"Haha, yes, I guess you're right. I'm here visiting my brother. He's always been a handful that one. But I come for a visit every now and then, when my work allows. Who're you visiting?"

"I see. I'm also visiting my brother. Adopted brother, actually."

"Blood doesn't define a family, laddie."

"True... and that's what I want him to remember, too. I don't want him to think I've abandoned him, 'cause I haven't. So that's why I decided to come today. Hopefully he'll want to see me."

"I'm sure he'll be happy to see a kind face. This place isn't full of hope, so anything a person can provide to a fellow family member behind the cells is a precious plenty, for sure."

"Yes, I agree. I'm sure I'm being far too forward, but what is it you do for a living? Forgive me if I'm asking too much. I'm trying to calm my nerves. It's rare that I even talk to complete strangers like this. I'm what I guess most would call aloof or timid." Rex laughed.

"Ahhh, no not at all. I enjoy talking. Get me going and it's hard to stop me." Wrené chuckled, "But I run a modeling/acting agency. I'm a talent scout and I market a few big names. Plus a little publishing and fashion. Guess you could say I dabble in many branches of the fashion tree."

"Really?! How fascinating! I'm certain that's pretty exciting work, is it not?"

"Oh it's very exciting. I have to deal with some cocky youngsters, who think the world should revolve around them. They think they don't have to still be grounded when they get into this world... but yes, I do find it ever so enthralling."

"You're funny." Rex laughed, "I can only fathom how arrogant some models can be. But hopefully you have a few who aren't snooty and too good for us normal people?"

"I'm sure I do. I've got one who's been on my roster since he was a tyke. I lov— care about the kid very much. So his arrogance I tolerate... But I do let him know when he's stepped over the line.

Other than that though, I can't say I have the pleasure of knowing any others. But I'm sure I'll find one. I'm always looking for something to spark interest. Right now my catalog of models feels like its heavily sedated. It's lacking something. I don't know what, but I think I'm onto what I need." he said, absorbing Rex's features intensely. He hadn't seen someone like him before in real life. He took his breath away. He looked delicate, almost serene like. Elegance in a striking package that would invoke a rich feeling. A perfect marble statue. His next masterpiece, he thought to himself as the visitors bell screeched out loudly, "Well, I guess this is where we part for now, Mr-One-name."

"I guess so. Thank you for the conversation. Have a nice meeting with your brother." Rex said, hoping that didn't sound weird. He wasn't up to date on his prison etiquette.

Wrené smiled,

"You as well." he said, following behind the long line into the visitors room.

As the line finally made it into the room, Rex laid eyes on his blue haired brother sitting in the back corner. He looked just as nervous as he did. He couldn't help but giggle to himself. Taking a deep breath he sauntered over to him and took a seat across from him.

"Hey Blueberry, I've missed you."

Behrick looked up with a surprised face, "Rexalynn! What are you doing here?" he asked, with an ear to ear smile.

"I'm here to visit you. I thought you could use a friendly face around here. How are you, given the circumstances?" Rex asked, looking around at all the people. He searched for Wrené finding him in the middle of the room with a man about the same age as Behr.

His hair in long dirty blond dreads.

He had a bushy beard like Wrené and Behr.

"I'm well. I'm better now that I've seen you. You didn't have to visit, but I'm happy you're here. How are you? Are you well? How's school?!" Behr asked, wishing he could hug him.

"I'm very well. School is good. Still acing all of my classes. So, school is perfect. I got all moved in with Fischer and Iruka, and I love it there! It's super perfect. You met my mum, so we're doing well.

I met my sister and my dad... He's not my bio dad, but he's so amazing! And my sister... Gosh, she's awesome."

"I'm glad to hear that, little brother... I umm... probably shouldn't call you that anymore, huh?"

"No, you can still call me that." Rex said, letting out a deep exhale, "Look, I'm here, which means I still love you very much. I don't think I could ever stop loving you. You've been my brother for what, 11-12 years?! How can I just turn those feelings for you off? It's impossible. So, yeah, I'm still your brother, and until the day we die and our spirits part ways you will be my family." Rex said, with a smile, grabbing his hand, "Gosh, I've been spending too much time with Leo. He has me somewhat spiritual. I can't help but love him."

"You're gonna make me cry. Which wouldn't do me any good in here." Behr said, clearing his throat, "I'm happy you still love me, 'cause I love you, too. I know I can never make up for all my family and I put you through. But I'd like to try. I'm not sure what I can do from behind these walls, but I guess serving my time would be a start."

"How long are you in for?" Rex asked, searching his hazel eyes for an answer.

"34 years, give or take. It was going to be 40, but they knocked off a few years for the information to some unsolved cases. I might get out earlier on good behavior, I'd be on parol forever. There're worse things, I suppose. The good thing is, when Ram and my dad get captured, none of us will be in the same prison."

"Geez, that long? Wasn't there any way to get you a lighter sentence?"

"No. This is light. It'll be okay. But enough about that. So, going back a bit, you and Leo are dating?"

"Yes... For almost three months."

"I see... So--" Behr said, twiddling his fingers nervously, "Does Leo know about you being Intersex?" he asked, in a whispered voice.

"I told him a while back. He's fine with it. He actually embraces my weirdness. He's weird, so it's to be expected."

Behr laughed, "Well he should embrace your uniqueness, as should you. Umm... are you guys having... sex?"

"Behr!!!" Rex yelled out, "Come on." he said, embarrassedly.

"I-I-I'm sorry... I'm just asking. You're my little brother, with a few extra parts. You know you'll need condoms, and birth control---"

"Behr--!!" Rexalynn said, covering his ears up, "I so don't need or want to hear this."

"We have to talk about it. Even though you may not want to." Behrick said with a chuckle, lowering his voice, "You can get pregnant if you're not careful. There are diseases that can be spread and all kinds of things. I'm not encouraging you to have sex, but if you do, I want you to be safe about it." he said, placing his hand on top of his with a warm smile.

Rexalynn sighed, rolling his eyes,

"Yeah, I know. Thank you. We would use condoms and things to stay safe... if we were having sex. Which we aren't! The most we've done... I so don't want to be having this conversation, but the most we've done is kissing and maybe some touching. I'm still a virgin. But thank you for looking out for me."

"You're my little brother. I love you, so of course I'd look out for you." he said with a smile, "I'm happy you're seeing someone who cares for you. How is he doing?"

"He's okay, his stiches have healed up, and he hasn't complained about pain or anything, so I take that to mean he's doing well. Although, he's milking it for all it's worth. He's lucky it missed anything vital. I tell you, he gets into things without a first or even second thought. But I adore him. I slightly envy that about him. I feel like I'm so stiff and reserved."

"Well, you're young... I'm not saying that's a reason to go out and be wild, reckless and stupid, but you could loosen up a bit. You're 18, so, there's no need to be so inhibited." he said, noticing the gold chain that was slightly exposed underneath the collar of his shirt, "You're wearing the necklace I got you?"

"Huh? Oh, yeah... I broke school dress code for you." Rex said, a big smile coming across his face as he pulled the necklace out, "You're lucky that I love dinosaurs."

"Indeed."

"Sincr we're talking about me being a little less reserved, Fischer is dragging me to a Halloween party. So, I'll be forced to hobnob with the youths of the 21st century."

"Look at you being a teen!" he said, with a laugh, "That'll be fun. What're ya going to be?"

"I don't know yet. Halloween was never something we celebrated, and to be honest, I was quite fine with that. But I'm sure I'll think of something. On another note, umm... Fish says, Umi isn't taking this whole situation very well. We were wondering if you could write a letter to her. You could send it to our place just in case she's not strong enough to read it."

"I hate that she has to deal with this. I've hurt so many people, but mainly the two people I'd do anything for. I'll write whatever you want, to her. I had planned to propose to her in December. I won't put that in the letter, but I really loved her. I'm gonna be in here for a while. She can't wait on love with a convict." Behr said, pursing his lips together with a distraught expression.

"I'm so sorry, Behr. Just tell her what's in your heart. I'm sure it's a lot. I think she'd appreciate it."

"Yeah... I know it'd be selfish to ask, but I really wish she'd visit me. But that would only make her feel worse. So, I'll keep it short and sweet. Give me your address and I'll get it written up and sent out on the next mail day. I'd love it if you'd write to me, too. If you want, no pressure."

"Of course! I'll write and visit. You're going to be okay. There should be a way to get you out earlier. I could do some research and—"

"Hey, hey, don't waste your time doing that! I told you, it's okay, Rex. Just live your life. All I want is for you to be happy. That's all. Nothing more. As long as I know you're happy, I won't mind rotting away in here."

Rex looked at him with a sad expression, wishing he'd of stopped him from confessing to the police. He sighed,

"If you're sure. I can't help feeling like I should help you, but if this is what you want from me, all I can do is oblige. Even if I don't particularly agree with this decision."

Behrick smiled, "Well, as the older brother that's what I wish for."

"Fine... But I really want to put emphases on the fact that I don't like it." Rex said, resting his head on his arms with a defeated sigh.

Over at Iruka's place, Lamb and Leo were busy fixing Rex's lock. Well, more like Lamb, considering Leo was busy playing with Bento.

"I can't believe how nuclear my sister went on me! It was out-god-damn-rageous! Seriously times omega! Who yells at someone when they're trying to help you!!? All I did was ask her if she was okay, and it was like a mass structure of a chaos. World war three-thousand!!" Fischer said, still unable to comprehend how tempered Umi had been, "I mean she's usually the calmest of the Greyrose kids, and now she doesn't want to talk to our parents or her brothers. I can't even deal! Plus, she threw me out on the front steps like a one night stand.

I didn't even get to eat! Ohhh!! Ohhh! Then--Them she had the nerve to say I don't understand her situation! Is she effin' kidding?! I think I get it. Hello, I was held hostage by her lovers brother! Bull fucking shit, times omega!"

"Ehh, Tiffany-talks-a-lot! Those are two completely different things. Held hostage, in love with a killer." Leo said, putting his hands out to the side like a scale, raising them up and down in a weighing motion, "I mean the chick's heart is broken. I ain't saying she should shut her family out, but I get it. She's not thinking rationally at the moment. Give her a couple more weeks to let it sink in and fade out. She just lost the guy."

"I'm aware, Jack-Hanna..." Fischer said, curling his lip up at Leo and Bento rolling around on the floor.

"On this point, I think Le-Le's right." Lamb said, finishing the door, "Give her some breathing space. Just keep texting her. She may or may not text back. But she can't say that you didn't love her or care about her in her darkest hours. That's all you can do. You can't force yourself on a person who doesn't think they need help."

"Lammy-Chan is so smart, and handy." Fischer exclaimed, wrapping himself around him, "Thank you for fixing Rexi's door. Now I'll only have to deal with him running from Bento when he comes out of his room."

"Lamb is smart?! What about me? I'm the one who gave him the idea. Don't I get anything? No credit at all?!"

"Sure, you'll get fleas from rolling around with that dog." Fish said, sticking his tongue out at him.

"Fleas need love, too."

"Gross-O-matic!" he said, making a disgusted face, "Anyway, are you two staying for dinner? Oh, who's gonna get Rexasaurus from the slammer?"

"He said he was taking the bus, 'cause he's going to see his mom."

Leo said, taking a seat at the long dining room table.

"That's where he better take his little tail. His mommy is so sweet and nice." Fish said, going to boil some water for tea, "But anyway, when do you guys leave for your trip?" he asked, naughtily hoping in the back of his mind that they had changed their minds.

"At 12 A.M. on the 30th." Lamb answered, as he came to stand behind him. He wrapped his arms around his waist, and rested his head on his shoulder, "It won't be long. I'll bring you something pretty back." he whispered, nipping his ear playfully, his hot breath traipsing down his neck.

"You better. I want video and text every morning, afternoon, and night. If you don't I'm gonna fly down there and bury you behind the walls of one of those houses you'll be renovating. Doesn't that sound stellar!?" Fischer asked, with a giggle.

"Umm... haha." Lamb said, laughing nervously. He hoped he was joking, but something told him to make sure he didn't slip up on the text or any other demand he made, "I will for sure call and text while I'm gone. A-And video."

"Goody. Well, I guess I'll be okay without you. Is it hot or cold in Sun Crest Hollows?"

"Ironically it's burning hot. Goes from hurricanes to a thermal sun storm." Lamb said.

"Mmm, so when you come back you're gonna have tan lines all over? How erotic. Toasted cinnamon. I can't wait!"

"Riiiggghtt, hey people I'm still here! I really don't want to hear this. I'm still recovering from Lamb explaining your whole lingerie stunt."

"Lammy! You told him!?" Fish asked, turning around to face his baby faced lover.

"Well I—" Lamb started to say.

"He didn't have to. I found your bra in the backseat. Didn't know you were into cross dressing." Leo said, with a cocky grin.

"Eff you! You're just jelly 'cause you can't convince Rexi to put on anything like that for you. And if you even dare think about trying to steal his purity I will fuck your whole world up."

"Boy bye! Please stop..." Leo said, fanning his hand dismissively at him, "First off, we don't need cheap thrills. We're sexual satisfying on our own."

"Uh-huh... I bet. I can tell you're just jealous. No worries, I can by you a set for yourself."

"Asshole."

"Dios mío! Stop it! Leo, zip your mouth!"

"I didn't even do nothing to red-herring! Why do I always get in trouble?"

"You deserve to get in trouble!" Fischer chimed in, adding more smoke to the fire.

"Fischer! You stop, too."

"But I-- he... Fine..." Fish said, going to take a seat across from Leo. They shot each other electrifying glares as Lamb came and took a seat next to Fish.

"You two are beyond stubborn. I swear."

"I don't want to talk about this, or your weird little fetishes. What I came here for was tea, room snooping and to discuss Rex's costume for this party you're forcing him to go to."

"Eh, slow your roll. I'm not forcing him. He wants to go... deep down underneath all the not wanting to go parts. And we haven't discussed costumes."

"Oh, but we have. He's going as a unicorn."

"Haha!! That's a good one. I know he didn't agree to that. Hysterics! He'd rather go as a girl. I'm sure he's thinking of going as an igneous rock, an atom, planet, or dead scientist. Something brainy that will probably get us beat up. But I know he's not going as a horned horse."

"The hell you say! Yes he is, or he ain't going. He'd look so cute!"

"You're an idiot!"

"What's your brilliant costume going to be, since you want to beat mine into the grave?" Leo asked, looking him up and down like nothing he had in his *repratuar could compete.

"Hmm, I haven't thought about it that much, but I'll tell you a few ideas: sexy nurse, sexy vampire, sexy hippie, Lolita or my favorite, a dead stripper."

"Wow, those sound... revealing."

"Your point?!" Fish asked, arching an eyebrow at him.

"Ain't one... but you're talking about Rex's costume getting y'all clobbered? You don't think you in barely anything will do the same thing?"

"No... I can pull off being a girl. I'm not worried. I know Rexi won't go for it, but I already find the cutest Lolita outfits at the costume shop downtown! He's already pretty and with a lot of makeup and contouring no one will even recognize us."

"If you suggest that to him..." Leo paused, getting an idea, "Actually, ignore me—"

"Oh how I try." Fischer teased.

"Hardy har har... when he goes straight murder on you for suggesting that, my unicorn idea will be victorious!" Leo laughed out, proud of his plan, that would totally fail.

"You need sever help, my friend. And don't you think you're asking for unnecessary drama, Mi amor? I'm not saying I don't enjoy you in girls clothing, 'cause I do... But I just don't want any dumbass, close minded, homophobic people messing with you, or worse hurting you. I'm sure Iruka wouldn't let you out of the house like that anyway."

"Oh, Lammy, it'll be fine. There're a handful of ignorant, uneducated people out there, but the rest of society is moving with the times. The new generation shall prosper!"

"Yeah, the new generation is what scares me. Just be safe. Leo nor myself will be here to pummel anyone who tries something. You and Rex are both little spitfires who I believe are quite capable of keeping yourselves safe, but I just think it's best to avoid trouble to begin with. That's all I'm saying."

Fish scoffed, resting his head on his hand as he stared into Lamb's worried sapphire eyes,

"Yeah, yeah, we'll be careful."

"Your long speech ain't even necessary, Lamb-Chop... 1.) Rex won't go for it. 2.) Iruka would slaughter Fish for even attempting to crossdress in public. And Three... Well, I ran out of reasons."

Fish rolled his eyes at him,

"There're two flaws in your logic. Allow me to explain them: Rex loves anything to do with Asian flare. And who in this room is Asian? Oh, that's right, me! What on my list of costume ideas is also Asian?"

"All the costumes you named off were probably manufactured in China. So--- all of them?" Leo said with a snicker.

"I'm gonna let that slide... Anyway, Lolita is a style that is very popular in, Japan. Ya know, like harajuku and what not."

"Nah, I don't follow what you mean. But I'm sure Lamb knows what you're talking about."

"Indeed." Lamb said, pulling up some images to show him on his phone, "See, this is what he's talking about?" He slid his phone across to him, Leo skimmed through a few images before sliding the phone back.

"Okay, so it's cute?? So what in your little messed up equation makes you think that, just because it's Asian, cute... and sweet.... Damn..."

"You see the error in your ways, yes?" Fish asked, with a laugh, steepling his fingers under his chin with a devilish smile.

Leo shrugged,

"He's still not going to go for it. But let's make a bet, caviar boy. I don't have any money, but I'll bet you-- $800 dollars in an IOU form, that he won't choose your little froufrou costume."

"You expect me to make a bet with a broke peasant? I laugh... but just to humor you and myself, I'll raise you double that. $1,600 that he won't pick yours. I take my cash in ones only. You'd better get a good job, 'cause you're gonna be owing me for life."

Lambert sighed, shaking his head at them,

"I shouldn't be encouraging this, but just to make it even more interesting, I'm wiling to bet against the two of you. So, if you both lose, which if I know Rex as well as I think I do, so far, he won't choose either. I'll take both of your bets which comes out to be $2,400 dollars. I have the most to pay up if I'm wrong, but I also gain the most when I'm right. Intuition tells me I'm correct." he said, putting his bet into the ring, "Let's shake on it."

They quickly shook on it, and went back to costume hunting.

Over on the east side of the island, Rexalynn had left the jail feeling a little lighter. He was happy to have seen Behr. Though he told him not to worry too much about him, he couldn't help doing just that. But for now he decided to put him out of his mind. He unlatched the lock on the white picket fence gate that surrounded Karsyn 's house. He walked the long path to the front door, quickly being joined by Pokkī. He took a deep breath trying to ignore him and not freak out. Cause lord knows he wanted to head for the hills. He knocked and rang the doorbell multiple times. He knew he probably sounded like a serial killer, although he doubted they'd be knocking on the door.

"Who is it?" Karsyn asked, coming to the door.

"It's Rexalynn." he said, quietly shooing Pokkī away.

Unlocking the door, Karsyn greeted him with a big smile and a hug,

"How are you? I've missed you." she said, holding him against her tightly.

"I've missed you too, mum." he said, holding her just as tightly. He took a whiff of her warm sugar perfume and let it seep into his lungs happily. Though he had hugged her multiple times since they were united, the feeling always seemed so new and invigorating to him. To think he was holding the woman he thought for years hadn't wanted him. It was still unbelievable. He was happy to know that he'd been wanted and though he was hesitant to see her, he loved seeing her, being with her, holding her, just being near her.

"What are you doing out so late? It's at least 8:30... did you ride the bus all the way here?"

"Oh, is it? Hmm... I had to do three transfers and walk a little of the way. But it's no issue. Really." he said shrugging his shoulder nonchalantly.

She smiled, caressing his face. She, just like him, couldn't believe she had been united with her long lost child. Sometimes she just had to touch him to make sure he wasn't an illusion.

"Well come in... tell me about your day. I just finished making a stew-- well the crock pot finished making it." she said with a laugh, brushing her hair from her face as she lead him inside. Pokkī burst pass both of them going to lay on his big pillow bed. Making their way into the kitchen, she grabbed a couple of bowls and spoons and sat them on the counter as she prepared their bowls.

"So, what have you been up to? How was school? Any more hagglers? "

"Not today. The allure of being held hostage has lost its shine. Also, I refused to answer any of their questions. But school was alright. I umm... I'm not sure how you'll feel about this, but I don't want to lie to you."

Karsyn looked up at him, concern stretching across her face, her lavender eyes focused on him,

"What's up?"

"I went to visit Behr today. Before you give me your opinion on it, hear me out... I know what he did was wrong and it cost us a lot of years together... I don't excuse, nor have I forgotten any of that. My thing is, I can't forget, or easily erase the love I have for him. I know, it's crazy, but he was very good to me, despite being an accomplice to kidnapping. I feel like his whole life was a punishment. No he wasn't forced... but actually I think he was sort of forced..." he paused, coning yo a realization, "That's it!! That's how he can get out early!" he said getting an idea, "I'm not certain of the terms right at the moment, but he was brainwashed to participate in their gruesome acts. He was a child himself when a lot of these crimes were committed. So half the charges shouldn't stick..."

"Slow down there... Before you dive deeper into this, may I give my opinion?" she asked, going back to fixing food.

"Sure."

"Though I wouldn't think I'd be, I'm okay with you still loving him as your brother. It's understandable. I don't believe it's easy to turn off your emotions for someone who was in your life for so long."

"It's easy when it comes to Ramsey and Gilmore. But for Behr... I just can't do it."

"And I won't ask you to. I had to learn to forgive the Lavoisiers a long time ago. I just don't want you getting hurt. That's my only concern. I love you and I will support anything you want to do. I'm your mother and it's my job to protect you." she said, giving him his bowl.

He smiled, shaking his head,

"I know... I'll be safe and sound. I don't think he'll hurt me, but I'll be careful."

"That's all I can ask. Anyway, how're things at Iruka and Fish's place?"

"Very well. I love it there! Living with my best friend is fun. I'm grateful to them for letting me stay. My only issue is the dog."

"Surely the dog isn't that bad, is he?"

"Right, when you're terrified of dogs, he's horrifying."

"You do know you grew up with with a dog for at lest three and a half years of your life, right?" she asked, looking over at Pokkī who was passed out.

"Mmm... somewhere between then and now the fear set in." he said, taking a spoonful of soup into his mouth, "By the way, this is sumptuous."

"Thank you! It's your Gramme Kyler's recipe."

"Really? It's divine." he said, wiping his mouth before he spoke again, "Umm... speaking of other relatives, since we're on the subject... when do you think we'll arrange a get together? I'm not in a rush or anything, o-o-only because I get really nervous around a lot of people. But I would love to meet them."

"Whenever you're ready, honey bunny. All the family is anxious to see you. I can't say it won't be a big group. You've got a lot of aunts and uncles and a lot of cousins. Plus your grandparents on my side and your dad's side. It's a lot."

"That's a lot of family. I'm happy though. I've secretly always wanted a big family. Lots of get togethers, holidays, birthdays. It always looks so amazing in movies. You said we're originally from Starrybourne island, yes?"

"Oh the holidays and celebrations are a riot of fun! The stories I could tell, honey. And yes, we're from Poppy meadows. My parents own a little farm house slash country inn out there called, 'Waalhaven Inn'. People used to come and go when I was younger. But it sure kept life interesting."

"Isn't it weird to have strangers in your house?" Rex asked, inquisitively.

"At first, but they come to be part of your family after awhile."

"I see... that sounds fun. Whenever we both have time we should go and see everyone." he said, spooning down his last bit of stew.

"I'll make arrangements. I'll need to get all my patients cleared and I think the holidays would be best. Definitely don't want to interrupt school."

"Yeah, the holidays would be best. There're a lot of major test coming up so I need to be sure I pass. Then I'm all yours and theirs." he said with a laugh, "I'm sure I'll be okay, Rowan will protect me. Question, not that it's important, but which of is older?"

"Rowan is 30 minutes older... You two has me in labour for 72 hours. You two were definitely prepared to give your mama hell." she laughed.

"Oh Goodness... I apologize." he chuckled lightly.

"I accept your apology." she giggled.

"Oh, do you happen to know how Gavin's doing? Last time I text Ro, she said he was doing much better. But he had been knocked off his ass." he said, "I really need his number actually. I mean, I'm sure he wouldn't mind me checking on him... Maybe..."

"Honey, Gavin doesn't bite. He'd

love to hear from you. We've all been a bit busy since our meeting. Let me give you his number, and you can give him a ring. But he's 85% better."

"I so don't want to be a bother to him."

"Dear, why would you think you'd be a bother? Honey, I know you think that you're an encumbrance, but I assure you you're not. Since the day you were born, Gavin has devoted his life to loving you, Rowan and me. He adores the ground you walk on. The night after our meeting, we stayed up for hours just texting about you and your sister... Us... He told me he told you about his drinking."

"Yeah... He did. I'm happy he's sober. I've been around people who couldn't control themselves under the influence of acohol and it's hard to watch."

"Yes... Your papa Odessa, my daddy, had a big struggle with the bottle when I was a little girl. He never got violent with us, it's just, he wasn't fun to be around. He's been sober now for I want to say 18 years." she said, musing on what finally made him go to a meeting, "Actually, when he learned I was pregnant, something in him changed. He went to his first meeting the next day, and hasn't touched a drop sense. Sometimes, the craziest things can make a person either become sober or lose their sobriety."

"That's true... But it's not like hearing about that made me apprehensive towards him... It's..." he scoffed, playing around with his spoon on the lip of his bowl, "He's super easy to talk to, sweet, fun... He's the complete opposite of what I've grown up with. It's crazy, that I'm afraid to allow myself to let him completely in. Same for you and Ro. I'm not the easiest person to love, and that's partly due to my own insecurities. I don't want to push you guys away, but at the moment in kinda keep the three of you at arms length. I'm sorry if that's insensitive---"

"Rexalynn, hey baby... I'm sure this is hard. You don't have to worry about us abandoning you because you need time to adjust. I promise, we're not going to rush you. It's going to take time, which anything good always does. We love you, and we know you love us."

"I do indeed. Thank you for putting up with my issues."

"Your issues are my issues, my little snow bird. Honestly, you take as much time as you need. If you want to take baby steps, or even crawl... Then you do so, okay?" she said, placing her hand on top of his, "I love you to the moon and beyond."

Rex smiled, placing his other hand on top of hers, "I love you too!" he said, "This is going back a bit in the conversation, but did you say you and Gavin... Dad, were talking about your relationship?"

"Hmm... Your dad and ate are very much still in love. The thing is, I'm not ready to get back together just yet. I... We finally came to common ground maybe 5 years ago... I just don't want to rush us. Neither of us have dated anyone since the other, but... I don't know. Your father is the first man to actually have this unshakeable hold on me. His love keeps me sedated, but I'm not sure I'm quite ready to fall back into that calm of his. It's comfortable and inviting, but I feel as though I'm still learning to be on my own two feet. As I told him, we may get back together at some point, but I don't want to ruin what we worked so hard to get back."

"I understand..." Rex said, looking into her lilac eyes. He could tell she loved Gavin dearly, but if time was what she needed, then that's what she should take. If they were meant to be together, then they would be. It would just take what everyone wished they had more of... Time... Funny, he thought, there was either too much or not enough of it. A true conundrum of sorts. Looking at the time on his phone, he saw it was already 10:46 P.M.

"Well, as fun as this has been, I've got class tomorrow. And I've still got to study for chemistry and history."

"Let me drive you. I won't have you taking the bus this late at night." she said, putting the bowls into the sink. She grabbed her keys from the counter and her jacket from the back of the couch and led the way to the car.

Settling in to the long car ride home, Rex decided to pick his mom's mind for a little more info about their family.

"Mum?"

"Hmm?" she said, turning down the smooth jazz radio station that was humming out.

"I was just wondering, was there anyone else in our family like me?"

"Not that I'm aware of. But there could be on your bio-father's side. But as far as I knew things like that we're supposed to be disclosed. But it's not like it's a big deal, so maybe it wouldn't have been disclosed. Why do you ask?"

"No... no reason. I was just curious. You said the donor was non-anonymous, which means I could look for him if I wanted to?"

"Yes. Do you want to look for him?"

"I'm curious. I mean, I have always wondered where and who I come from. It's not a big deal. But then again, I can't help but wonder about him. Did you ever meet my bio-father? Am I asking a lot, because I feel like I am?" he said, taking a deep breath.

"Not at all. You can ask anything you want. I never met him, or saw a picture. I just had a mini bio and description and a few other stats. I don't know his real name, but it's your right to know. And clearly this man wants to know the children he helped create. That's my thought anyway. If you want to look for him we can get the info. You're at the age where the information is available to you. I've never broached the subject with Rowan, nor has she to me, but maybe she'd open up to you about it. Even if she doesn't wish to, it doesn't mean you can't."

"I see... well, I'll think about it tonight and let you know. But, I'm still getting to know all of you. No need to go looking for more family, not yet anyway."

"Indeed. But whenever you're ready, let me know." she said.

Rex shook his head in agreement. He wondered if finding his biological father would answer any of his questions.

After a long ride, they finally pulled up to Iruka's townhouse apartment.

"Call me when you get home tomorrow, or text me. I have a few patients tomorrow and then I have... a date. And then--" Karsyn started to say.

"Whoa, whoa! A date? With whom?" he asked, shocked by the sudden announcement, "You're going on a date-date? I think I should vet the person who wants to take you out."

"Oh he's a patient. I mean--" she said, fanning her hands in a pause fashion, "I mean, his cat is a patient... He comes by with big donations and even when his cat is well he brings her in as an excuse to come and see me. He's been trying to get me to go out with him for the longest of times." she said, giggling lightly, "It's nothing serious. He just wanted a friend. That's all. And I could use some friends on two legs... My four legged companions are wonderful, but barking and meowing can get kinda old."

"Ahh, how sweet. What's he look like? I need full details in case I have to come track him down."

"You're funny..." she laughed, "He's about 5'11, white, with gorgeous white hair, dusty bluish gray eyes, and an accent. I believe he's in his late 40's to early 50's. He dresses very suave."

"He sounds handsome. He'd better bring you home on time and not try any funny business. He'd better keep it platonic. Or ill have to call Gavin." he giggled. Karsyn slapped his arm playfully, as she shook her head at him, "Call me when you go out, when you get there and when you get home. Let me know how it goes. I'm sure you'll have fun."

"I guess so." she chuckled, "Anyways, I love you sweetie. I'll see you soon. Good night."

"I love you, too. Have fun, but not too much. Call you later." he said, kissing her on her cheek before he climbed out. They waved a good bye and parted ways.

Skipping up the steps, he paused to watch his mom drive away. He smiled, searching his back pocket for his key. Quickly finding it, he unlocked the door and entered in to the sound of his best friends fellow shipping. Walking into the living room he saw Lamb and Fish stretched out on the couch, watching a reality show.

"Don't you two look comfy?" he said, placing his bag on the opposite couch.

"Rexi!! Welcome home!" Fish said excitedly, "How'd your visit go? Did you go see your mom?"

"The visit with Behr went well. And yes, I went to see my mum. That was wonderful. We ate dinner and talked. We're thinking of going to visit the rest of the family soon. That's exciting slash nerve wrecking. But I do want to meet them."

"You should! A big family is nice... sometimes." Fish said, with a laugh.

"It can be very fun!" Lamb said, pulling out his wallet, "You always have friends and a place to go when you need it. I mean, look at all these cute cousins!" he said, letting the mini photo album unfold to the floor."

"You have that many cousins?" Fish asked, pulling the pictures over for a closer look. Rex walked over and stood behind the couch to look too.

"Yup, these are all the ones you met at my birthday party," he said pointing them out to him, "and these are all the rest. Some are in Puerto Rico, Columbia, Mexico, Turkey, Italy and then the rest are on the west side of the island."

"Wowza... that's so many. Hey, where do the cousins here live? I'm gonna pay them a visit for ruining my vest. They're just like my cousins, attaching when you least expect it. Children know I'd rather not be around them and they come and surround me."

"Don't you have a lot of cousins?" Lamb asked, folding the pictures back into his wallet.

"Yup... 6 on my dad's side and 10 on my mother's side. They clearly like sex, or kids 'cause they spit them out quicker than a person can blink."

"You're so bad! Kids are so sweet." Lamb said, with a sappy grin plastered to his face.

"Kids are monsters in skin suits. Gross-o-matic!"

"You don't want kids one day, Flores?"

"For what?" Fish asked, looking at him with a confused look.

"To love, mi amor." he answered, not understanding what there was to explain.

"I'm gonna go... I'll be right back." Rex said, sneaking away. He tip-toed past Bento not wanting to battle with him. Successfully getting by him, he opened the door to his bedroom on stealth and quickly headed in. Closing the door behind him, he noticed the new doorknob. He tested the lock, a smile coming on his face as he let out a quiet cheer that he wouldn't have to immediately wake up to a dog in his face. Letting out a relieved sigh, he began undressing before he noticed the huge lump in his previously neatly made bed. Cocking his head to the side, he walked over and poked at the lump, hearing a low snore. Uncovering it he saw that the lump was Leo fast asleep. He let out a sigh, and shook his head at him. Of all the places for him to choose to sleep... he thought, noticing his red combat boots thrown off next to the bed. He kissed his head, and decided to let him be. Changing into a black skull print t-shirt and gray sweat pants he got to work on his studies.

A few minutes passed, as Leo opened his eyes to Rex sitting at his desk doing what he did best, studying. He chuckled to himself, as he climbed out of the bed. Rex had his headphones on in deep concentration trying to finish his history report and math prep test.

"You got that one wrong." Leo said, scaring the hell out of him.

Rex turned around and stared up into Leo's big eyes with a coy smile.

"The lion has awaken from his slumber. And I doubt I got anything incorrect."

"Yeah," he said with a laugh, placing his hand on the back of his neck with an embarrassed smile, "sorry about using your bed. I was so exhausted, and Fish gave me some cold medicine and it made me sheepy. He did it on purpose to get alone time with Lamb. Ain't nobody stupid."

"I'm sure that's not why he did it. Anyway, I don't mind you using my bed. I'll just need to wash my linens now since you're sick."

"Evil!" Leo said, with a sad face, "When did you get home, Uni?"

"Half an hour ago. I skipped out of the front room because Fish and Lamb were getting into a conversation about kids."

"Kids? How'd that come up?"

"I was talking about going to meet the rest of my family, and they were both telling me the pros of having a big family and somehow it turned to Lamb asking Fish if he wanted kids."

"Damn... That's insane. I know for sure Lamb wants like twenty kids. Fish better lie and say he wants the same amount, if not more. Lord have mercy..." Leo said, with a sigh, taking a seat back on the bed, "Speaking of family, how'd things go with Behr?"

"It was nice. He gave me a lecture about sex—"

"What? Why? We aren't having sex... But we can!" Leo said, a cheesy perverted smile coming across his face.

"Incorrect buddy... We're still being, per your wishes, abstinent. He was giving me a reminder to have safe sex, because I can get pregnant. I was so mortified."

"Well, that's what condoms and birth control are for."

"I'm not having this conversation with you, either." Rex said, shaking his head, "Anyway, if we're behaving, there's no need for any of those things. But moving on from that, I think I figured out a way to get Behr out of jail."

"Whoa there! What're you talking about? Get him out? Dude, I get going to visit him and that he treated you kind... but getting him out?"

"Yes, listen..." Rex said, explaining his idea in more detail. He knew Leo probably didn't see it from his perspective, but he wanted Behr to be free.

Leo shook his head thinking it was a bad idea, "Uni, I understand what you're saying, but at the end of the day he did still commit the crimes."

"Yes, but I still think he was brainwashed. That's what I'm trying to tell you."

"I don't know what else to say. I don't think it's a good idea. But if you want to get him out, then go for it." Leo said, exhaling deeply, "Changing subjects, how'd things go with your mom? She doing good?"

"She's doing very well. She has a date tomorrow night."

"A date, huh? That sounds fun... Wait, with who? Gavin?"

"No. She didn't tell me his name. She insist it's simply a friend date."  Rex said, pursing his lips to the side, like he wasn't completely sold on the idea.

"I see... Well, I got a date with my suitcases. So Lamb and I better get going. I'm glad the visits went well. Even though one of them has you thinking something crazy. But that's what I love about ya." Leo said, pushing himself up off the bed. He put his boots back on and kissed him on his forehead, "I love you, Uni. Walk me out?" he said, caressing his face. Rex looked up at him with a sigh, wishing he saw his idea to free Behr the way he did.

Heading out of the room, they saw Lamb and Fish cuddled up on the couch.

"Come on Haggis! We still gots packing to do." Leo said, heading to the door, "Check you later Fillet-a-Fish. I look forward to my payment." he said, tossing him a wave. Lamb gave Fish a passionate kiss before following Leo to the car.

"So, you guys worked your kid drama out?" Rex asked, taking a seat next to Fish.

Fish flipped the TV off, taking his glasses off to clean them as he spoke,

"Eh, he's tripping. We worked it out well enough. I don't want kids and he does. But if we're together for some years, I'm sure he'll change his mind."

"Or maybe you'll change yours."

"Boy-bye! Never gonna happen. Anyways, come look at these perfect costumes I found for us!" he said, hopping off the couch, pulling him along with him.

"Hey,what's this payment Leo mentioned before he left?" Rex asked curiously.

"Ohhh-- nothing." Fish said, in a sing-song voice.
