Time: 4am; Drake and I have been talking all night. Most of it was about each other. His life isn't all someone would expect. His father wants him to be so much more than what he is, but he doesn't want to follow the path the rest of his family does. When it got too late (in a manner of speaking) we parted ways and he went home. I guess I was really tired because I thought I hallucinated. What I thought I saw was him disappearing in a flash. Within a blink he was gone. That was just a few minutes ago.
Time: 4:07am; and my head is throbbing. Thank god it's a weekend. I kicked off my shoes and removed all my clothes and tried to get some sleep. I tossed in turn in my sheets but my mind still stayed on Drake. There's something off about him. I know we are dating and all and I'm supposed to trust him, but there's something he's keeping from me. There's got to be. My thoughts began to fade and the sweet melody of the sand man pulled me off to sleep.
4am, what the fuck am I thinking. Father is going to kill me. Even know I could feel the sun's hurtful rays on my skin. The big myth about vampires is that it burns our skin and we burst into flames when it touches our skin. That was true a long time ago, when our species first began. Now we have built up an immunity to the sun. It still hurts but not as much. Just like a minor sunburn. But if we stay in the sun too long we could die. Yawning and stretching, it was getting late. It's time I headed home. My home or should I say my crypt lies in an old boneyard on the outskirts of town. It's a lot more luxurious than you might think. It was a bit chilly out this morning. A cold fog crept into the streets. The sounds of birds could be heard in the distance. The only good thing about this day is the limit of people on the streets. It's a good time to hunt. In the distance a black silhouette of a person manifested from the fog. So the hunt begins.
The man appeared to be a jogger. He looked to be in his mid twenties early thirties. His headphones were in and loud. Most likely he couldn't even hear me even if I was right behind him. I stopped and listened well for any other people on the streets. Double checked with my eyes. It was clear. He was leaving the residential area and running down a long road that went into the forest. Which so happened to be on the route to the boneyard.
'fucking idiot' I thought.
Once I was certain we were hidden from view, my killer instincts kicked in. I decided to have a little fun with my food. I grabbed a rock. It was jagged and sharp. Big enough to injure someone if thrown the right way. Good thing I have an amazing aim. One throw and it hit his leg and he fell with thud. His headphones fell out when he collapsed. He twisted his ankle from the fall. I could tell from his agonizing screams. Music to my ears. I jogged like he did to his body on the ground. I stood in front of his face. From here I could hear his blood flowing through his veins.
"Please kid, you got to help me. Call 911 I can't move. I think I broke my leg."
I just stood there. Silent. His face dropped, he was scared of me.
"Don't worry, I'll help you."
My nails grew to the size of tiny daggers. My ears pointed and my teeth grew to the size of razors. My eyes pierced through the fog. I grew at least another two feet. His screams and fighting didn't stop me from ripping every ounce of flesh from his body.
I started with his ankle. I wanted to make him suffer. I'm already a monster might as well have some fun with it. I thrust my nails into the flesh of his leg. His screams could be heard for miles. But I knew no one could hear him. Who would be awake at this hour anyway?
Blood poured out of his leg and onto the road.
"How does that feel? Does that feel better?"
I got up and went to his face. I pulled him up and propped his torso against mine. I pulled his head back to reveal the side of his neck. I took a big bite and began to feast upon his dying body. All the blood from his body went directly to me. I threw him off to the side when I was done. I ran and left him like that.
It was 5 by the time I got back to the crypt. It was small and looked like it could only hold four corpses. Don't let looks deceive you. I opened the door and walked in. It was dark and smelled really bad. The inside looked like what you would expect. A small room with two walls that held two corpses on each. However on the back wall were two torch holders. I pulled the one on the left. The ground began to shake and a staircase was revealed below. I went down it and emerged myself into a long hallway. I waved my hands and the candles among the wall lit up one by one. The hallway had brown wallpaper and furnished pictures on the walls. A long carpet lined the hallway. I followed it and in the distance I could hear my mother.
"It's not like him to wander off like that. Where do you suppose he went?"
"He will be back I know it. Something must have been troubling him, probably went out for a walk," my father said.
They sounded to be in the living room. We had anything any normal family would. Beds, bathrooms, tvs, phones, kitchens. We were a normal family, for the most part. I entered the living room and ignored there comments. I went into my room which was farther down another hall. I opened the door and slammed it shut. I took off my shirt and pants and hopped in bed. On normal occasions I don't hunt and kill people like I did that man. I couldn't control myself. I guess I mindlessly kill when I'm upset.
Would Adam be with me or talk to me if he knew what I was?
Should I tell him?
My thoughts were interrupted by a knocking on my door.
"Drake, are you ok?" my mother said.
"I'm fine," I said. But we both knew that was a lie.
"Well I don't know what's going on, but your father and I know you don't kill and feed like that. Whatever is going on just know that we are here for you," she said.
I decided to be brave and talk to her.
"Mom, I have a boyfriend."
Her face lifted and she looked very happy.
"That's great news honey."
"Yeah, but he doesn't know about us," I said.
She came over and sat on my bed.
"You want to tell him don't you?" she asked.
All I could do was nod my head. The thought of telling him made me sick to my stomach.
"If you think you can trust him, then tell him. Have him come over and we can all tell him together," she said.
She patted my leg and she got up and left. Some part of me knew she was right.
I took in a deep breath.
'hey Adam. I know we talked a majority of the night yesterday, but we need to talk now. Wanna come over?'
I was hesitant when I sent it. All I could do now was wait.
"We could have drove to your house you know?" Adam asked.
"I think we should walk. we aren't far away, it's a bit past the
old boneyard" I replied.
I was scared. I don't have a heartbeat but if I did I'm sure it would be going crazy. Mother and father are aware of Adam coming over. They're not making dinner for him. Thank god that would just be awful. we're all just going to have a big talk. We entered the old boneyard and I could see the look on his face. That weirded out look.
"We're almost there," I said.
"But why do we have to go through the old boneyard," he asked.
"It's a shortcut," I replied.
I breathed in deep. We were approaching the crypt. I kept leading him in front of it. He looked kind of freaked out.
"Adam, I need to tell you something," I said as I opened the crypt doors.
"Don't tell me you're like a serial killer or something," he said jokingly.
"No, but I need to show you something, come inside," I said. I don't know why he followed me inside but he did. I closed the doors. I went to the back wall and pulled the left torch. The secret door manifested and I went down the stairs.
"Um, what the fuck is going on," he said almost angry.
"Adam, I'm a vampire."
He just stood there quiet. Then he started to laugh a bit.
"very funny, but this is a cool place, when did you find it?"
I ignored his question and did the last thing I wanted to do. I transformed in front of him.
"I'm sorry" was all I could say.
I transformed back. His face flushed with fear. His eyes went wide and he stood there, speechless. I watched as he fell to the floor.
