For those of you who got a little confused about the shift in scenes- Andy was writing about the cruise in his journal. The entire thing was a flashback (since chapter 1) and he recounts the events from the cruise in each chapter, little by little. I like the author's style- it's unique! Rock on, KayeDubb!!! :)
