Today we're taking a look at the gay section of a site called X on Demand, which is a porn pay per minute video site. The site offers over 2000 gay DVD titles from over 200 studios, and doesn't the same type of membership that subscription websites do. Pay per minute is a good option for those who prefer to control their spending or who want to spend only a little to test the quality available. Pay per minute may also be good for those who prefer to make sure their credit cards do not rebill.

There are plenty of ways to check out the content inside X on Demand. You can browse the DVDs by newest first, popularity, title or release date by using the dropdown menu to the upper left of the DVDs shown on the pages. You can also do a search by typing in a keyword, pornstar's name, series or studio name. While there are many studios represented, not every DVD from every studio is listed. X on Demand has 45 of the 100+ titles from The Body Shoppe, 11 of the 20+ from ZyloCo and 30 of the over 40 titles from Treasure Island Media. While they don't have every gay DVD titles around, the bottom line is that X on Demand lists a LOT of DVDs.

X on Demand offers all their movies in Real format in 4 sizes, which are listed as 56k, 128k, 384k and 512k. These sizes are approximate as the 512k vids I tried were actually 450k, the 384k vids streamed at 351k, the 128k vids at 225k and the 56k vids have a 34k bitrate. All these vids are shown at the same size - 320x240 - which means that the 512k vids look pretty good while the 56k vids, which should have been shown at a smaller size look pretty poor.

In addition to the Real vids, which are on the small side, some of the DVDs are offered in Windows format. There are 2 options here - auto size and direct. Direct leads to nice big 640x480 vids with a 1.77 Mbps bitrate. These are mostly good quality and look pretty good when enlarged to full screen. The other option, auto size, leads to the video size and speed that is determined best for your connection.

All the X on Demand movies are progressive. That means you can fast forward them immediately, waiting only a few seconds for the videos to buffer. That's a very nice feature. I was surprised that the videos at X on Demand weren't offered in clips. For those who only want to see a particular star or scenario, that only appears in a single scene on a DVD, this could be an inconvience that could also cost a few extra paid minutes as one searches through the DVDs looking for a particular action or scene.

Something worth noting is that a DVD can be listed in several categories. A twink title can also be listed in anal, blow job, amateur and cum shot. That means it's almost impossible to get an accurate count of the titles. I decided to use the cum shot category to determine the number of DVD titles as I figured most DVDs would include at least one cumshot.

X on Demand has a huge collection of streaming gay porn DVDs as well as an even huger collection of straight DVDs. The vids can all be fast forwarded without waiting for the movie to fully load, which is a plus. There are some issues, too. I'd like to see each DVD include both the production date and date added to the site. Then, since not all the movies are offered in the larger WMV format, it would be nice if there was a bigger version of each vid for Real Player. It would also be very nice if the videos were offered both in full DVDs and in scenes. Still, if you want access to tons of gay sex and plenty of variety, and you don't want to join a paysite, why not check out X on Demand to see more of what they have to offer.
