If you were looking for a quick answer on whether or not Videoboys is worth seeing then here it is: yes, it is. But if you want more details then you will just have to keep reading of course. The free tour should give you a pretty good idea of what the content is like as it is changed constantly with a preview of the latest member updates. There is one thing on the tour that I need to clarify though: it says there are over 1,600 videos inside the member's area but that number includes all of the bonus sites you get access to.
The first page inside the member's area gives you a choice between entering in to Videoboys and checking out the other five free bonus sites. I thought it was odd that they wouldn't just display the site I paid for as the default, before showing the bonus stuff, but it's not a big deal. After getting in to the real member's area it is easy to navigate and, as long as you notice the 'show more' buttons, you won't have any problems finding the pics and videos. But as the name of the site suggests this place is all about the videos so the pictures come second here.
Like I said earlier Videoboys is fairly new so the amount of content here is definitely not the biggest selection I have ever seen. That is understandable for a new site and I can give them a break on that since it looks like they're updating regularly... but then there is the problem of not having enough variety. The videos here seem to feature a lot of the same guys, and some are pornstars. Expect to see names like Jeremy Roddick, Pierre Fitch, Alec Winfield plus guys I've seen on other sites like Kobe Cash. There's a lot of Pierre Fitch in particular, which is fine if you like seeing him a lot. I would have liked to see more variety, but if you like the guys in the videos, more is a good thing.
At the time of this review there are only 22 videos available at Videoboys itself, with more on the bonus sites, and they have been adding new ones every week since the site opened. The videos are available to stream and download in the QuickTime MOV format and can also be downloaded as MP4s if you want to watch them on your iPod or similar portable device. The quality and size of the videos are both very good, which does a lot to make up for the small amount of them. These videos can be viewed in full screen mode without noticing too much loss in quality so that was a nice surprise after reviewing a lot of sites with thousands of low quality videos. It's definitely quality over quantity here.
Each video update comes with a set of 50 pictures which are okay but nothing special really; they are not bad but not good either. They're not screencaps from the video so the quality is good but the actual size of the images is too small for me. Another problem I found was the fact that all of the images are displayed using flash which means that you can't save the pics to your hard drive for later. I have said it once but it is worth mentioning again: Videoboys is all about the videos!
The value that you get from your Videoboys membership actually comes from the bonus sites that your password lets you enter. I don't usually take much time reviewing the bonus content on sites because I feel like it should be just that: an added bonus that has nothing to do with the main site. But I will make an exception here since the bonus sites are older and have more content inside. You get free access to five other sites and, like I said earlier, that's why the tour claims to have 1,600 videos. These bonus sites cover the same type of content as the main site so you will probably like them as well.
After taking everything in to account I would say that overall this is a good site to join for at least a month or two. The video quality is great, and it has been a while since I could say that in a review. The bonus sites you get access to, and weekly updates, help make up for the lack of videos at the moment. That's about all I can say about Videoboys for now so you're on your own from here.
