GayDemon's review of Randall Rivero

Randell Rivero features a hot duo of gay pornstars: Zack Randall and Derek Rivero, who you might have been at Gayvn and other awards shows. They have certainly been busy in quite a few scenes before, but this site is Zack's first step into the production side of things. The guys are gorgeous, they're horny and they are very comfortable in front of a camera. They're also real-life lovers who don't mind sharing their sex lives with their members.

Before I go ahead with this review, you'll want to know that there are two different levels of membership. This review is done under the VIP membership - the main thing to note about the basic membership is that you have no access to full videos, higher quality videos, cumshot only vids, and higher res photos. With that said, on with the review!

Randall Rivero is one of those sites where the tour is identical to the member's area - in fact, for the most part the tour IS the member area. The main member's area highlights the latest update, with six earlier updates underneath. If you're wondering where to get to the rest of the content, it's under the Meet the Guys section, which I had first assumed was a model directory or bio section. Instead, it's where you find all of the updates.

There are currently 21 updates on the site, and although this is a rather small number the site has only been going for a few months at best. All of the videos are exclusive, and you can either preview it, download the full episode in WMV, or get the MP4 version for your computer or your iPod. If you have a basic membership, you will get multiple clips of everything but the end.

One thing that caught my attention is that I could not browse the site while a video was downloading - I've run into this on a few sites before and it never fails to annoy me. The download speed was certainly quite nice, however - it got up to 1 meg/sec, which is in the higher end of speeds I've seen in the porn world. The videos are a good size at 768x576 and 1.46 mbps. The quality was good, and honestly a bit higher than what I was expecting. The camera pans get a bit jerky from time to time, but overall it's very enjoyable watching.

All of the videos feature either Derek, Zack, or the both of them together. You won't hear me complaining about this - these 2 horny guys are hot and hard in every video, and their unique personalities seem to come through very well in both videos and pictures. I particularly enjoyed the latest update, which has Derek showering and rubbing soap all over his dick and body.

There are also photo galleries for each video, however 90% of these are just vidcaps. It's very hard to find the episodes that don't have only vidcaps in them, as both caps and stills are mixed together. The vidcaps are 629x449 and good quality, while the stills are 470x705 and average quality. There are around 50 photos per set, although some have as little as 12 and others are in the higher range.

As far as bonuses go, there really isn't much here. With the VIP membership, you do get some deleted scenes, but they claimed a lot more on the tour pages, such as free live cams, behind the scenes footage, and a vip blog - none of which I have seen.

I do have a few issues with Randall Rivero that, given the newness of the site, will hopefully get worked out over time. The first is the update schedule - they seem to only be putting in 2 updates a month - sometimes 3 - and at irregular intervals so that there's no way for members to know when to expect updates. The second is that I'm not really a fan of split memberships that don't offer a significant amount above what a basic membership gives, and I can't see why a regular member shouldn't get access to the cumshot scenes since the price is that of a normal porn site. Finally, the member's area organization could use a bit of work. It's a pain to try to find the non vidcap photos right now, and putting all of the episodes in the Meet the Guys instead of a section such as updates or episodes is a bit offputting. I'm just not a big fan of how the movie pages are laid out either - the latest update doesn't have clips or a higher quality video, some things are labeled on other pages (full videos, deleted scenes, etc) while you have to mouse over the clips to figure out what they are.

One thing that would make me forget all of the problems is if there was actual model interaction - I'd love to see live shows featuring Zack Randall and Derek Rivero - who wouldn't? Or at least a forum where one could ask them questions and have them answered.

Don't get me wrong. Zack and Derek of Randall Rivero are hot, and watching them is sure to make you squirm in your chair. I like the downloadable videos in 2 formats and I like the video quality, but the site could use some work. Some of this stuff might sound nitpicky, but as the site grows little problems like bad video organization is just going to make it impossible to find what members are looking for. Randall Rivero could end up being a hot site, given how much I love watching both of these guys in action. However, right now the current issues are a distracting considering the smallish size of the site, the confusing dual membership options. Still, if you like what you see on the tour, Randall Rivero could well be worth joiniing.
