review of Pipe Boys, 2010-07-29

Pipe Boys is an amateur BDSM site that says on their warning page that they are a "voluntary training facility for subs and slaves without Masters". There are preview pics from 11 videos showing helpless and naked slaves bound and punished in a variety of painful situations in what appears to be someone's livingroom. There are no descriptions at all, which is a bit disappointing as it would be hot to hear a little from the dom or the photographer, but there are small preview vids from each session plus a larger video when you click Preview at the top of the page. There's no text on the page or join page to tell us about updates, whether the videos are downloadable or whether the content is exclusive, which I'm sure it is.

The member area of Pipe Boys is a single longish page that loads a bit slowly because the video at the top of the page starts auto-loading as you arrive - in fact, in Firefox the video starts to play. There are 11 episodes, and each is listed with the title, 8 thumbs and links to the video and to the pics. Since our last visit 6 weeks ago the site has not added any content, and also there are no descriptions, no links to a page telling us about the slaves and doms and no bonus material. I did notice that the videos are watermarked with a different site's name, and after looking at that site it appears the other site is the straight content from the same studio.

Pipe BoysThe videos here are in MP4 format and play right there on the member home page. They're shown at 640x480 with a bitrate of between 700k and around 1 Mbps. The quality of the videos is amateur, which isn't surprising since it was obviously shot by amateurs. There are some white balance issues but the videos are watchable, and you won't have trouble making out the action. The sound is not all it could be, not because of any processing or camera issues but because the mic in the camcorder isn't very near to the talking or the action. Still, if you're looking for real BDSM videos, these aren't bad at all and are obviously the real deal. The videos do not use DRM and are not offered for download, but if you have Quicktime Pro you will be able to save them.

Pipe Boys offers a set of pics with each video. The pics also appear on the member home page, and are vidcaps shown at around 500x323 and offered in Flash galleries. Quality is a little higher than the videos due to shrinking the pics a bit, and make these a bit higher than the average vidcaps out there. I was disappointed that the galleries don't each have their own pages - instead they are shown on the member home page and only show a single row of pics under a bigger pic. You must scroll the pics sideways to see more of them, and there's no way to see more than 6 pics at a time. Slideshows are available but there are no downloadable zip files.

Pipe BoysThe action here is authentic - and the slaves have the welts to prove it! - and there are some interesting dungeon toys like stocks, shackles, blindfolds and spreader bars, and some good bondage equipment and paddles. While there are 11 videos here, there are only 2 slaves shown - Adam and Derek. The sessions are hard, but what some viewers might find missing is verbal domination and humiliation. This site focuses on bondage and punishment, and while there's no soundtrack, there's no sense of menace or control, either.

There are a few changes that would improve this site. . I'd also like to see each episode's video on its own page along so that the videos don't play on the main page, and I'd like to see each episode have a descxription of the action. It would help us get more involved and to know who it is we're seeing in the videos. And I'd like to see the videos offered for download. But most of all, I'd like to see this site update - its lack of growth is holding it back.

While the action is hard and real, there's not much verbal humilation or domination, but the dungeon equipment is pretty good stuff. Unfortunately the site does not seem to update, nor is there info about the slaves or the doms, so what you see on the tour is pretty much what you get. If you like what you see on the tour and don't mind smaller sites and that the videos aren't offered for download, I think you'll like what you find in the member area of Pipe Boys.
