GayDemon's review of Next Door Gay

Next Door Gay is one of those sites that doesn't exactly live up to its title, but still delivers. The title alone might lead one to expect amateur guys,and the description claims that their models are "coming out of the closet", but if you've been surfing for a while, you probably recognize a lot of the guys on the tour even if you can't put a name to them. I'd consider this site a general gay porn site and go from there. What the tour does promise us is DRM-free downloadable videos in several formats, and that's a good thing, but there are conflicting claims regarding the number of movies - 801 or 8103 depending on where on the join page you read it.

In reality there are currently 215 videos inside Next Door Gay - not 801 or 8103 - with a new video added once a week. Navigation is simple and pretty intuitive, and the latest update is right there near the top of the page when you log in. There are also more recent updates and network updates listed, each with a thumb and the date it was added to the site.

Each video is offered as a downloadable full scene as a "DVD Quality" MPG shown at 480x480, a medium quality MPG shown at 352 x 240 and an MP4 version for iPod and Quicktime users shown at 480x360. Each video is also offered in 3 sizes of WMV clips that can be either downloaded or streamed. The videos are average to good quality, and they all play smothly and have good sound - a few were a little quiet, but turning the volume up just a little solved that. None of the videos here use DRM, so whatever you download will play after your membership has expired.

While Next Door Gay does have some videos featuring amateur guys, there are also plenty of porn regulars and pornstars in the videos. Some well-known names (and cocks) you'll find here include Paul Morgan, Jordan West, Austin Black and Tanner Reeves. And sure - even pornstars are someone's neighbor, but that's not what most of us mean when we're looking for guys next door in porn. On the other hand, there's plenty of locations in the videos that look more like someone's livingroom or backyard than a studio set. But most importantly, the sex is hot. There's plenty of guys sucking big cocks and getting their asses pounded by hard rods.

There are a couple options for pic lovers, too. Each video includes a set of vidcaps that are shown at 720x480 at average vidcap quality and for those looking for higher quality photos, there are 55 photo sets in the Pictures section. These pics are shown at around 768x1024, give or take, and they're pretty good quality. You can browse each pic set as a thumbnailed gallery or enjoy it as a hands-free slideshow, although they are not offered in downloadable zip files. The pics are a mix of solo and hardcore shoots and are not taken at the same shoots as the videos.

My only issues with the site aren't deal breakers, but they are worth mentioning. One was already mentioned - that this "next door" site features mostly pornstars, not guys next door. I believe the site has limited trials, which means that trial members don't get access to all the content - and trials recur at $15 a month more than the price of the regular monthly membership. Also the video numbers on the join page are much higher than the number of videos I found in the site and the site does not offer videos in MOV format. It does, however, offer MP4 videos, which also play in your Quicktime Player.

While Next Door Gay seems to have more pornstars and adult performers than amateurs, it still has a lot to offer gay porn lovers. There are 215 downloadable videos in several formats, regular weekly updates and 3 bonus sites. The site is easy to navigate, there's no issues or banners that get in the way of the content and there are some very hot guys sucking cocks, getting fucked and shooting loads of cum. For the reasons given in the previous paragraph, I recommend the full month membership over the trial. And while the content here doesn't stand out from similar gay sites, there's enough content, bonus content and updates to make Next Door Gay worth checking out.
