Let's face it - it isn't easy to find porn from the 70s and 80s. In addition to classic gay porn being hard to find in general, you also have to look at the extreme taboo that porn in general held during that time, let alone gay porn. However, Hot Gay Classics has gotten their hands on true blasts to the past featuring some of the best-loved stars from days gone by including gay porn legends Jack Wrangler, Scorpio, Leo Ford and legendary directors Joe Gage, Ian McGraw and Rick Crane.

The member's area of Hot Gay Classics retains a bit of that retro look and feel from the tour. You're greeted with a quick message that goes over the update schedule (every Friday), the fact that they have no DRM, and that there are three different downloadable sizes. Seems straightforward enough so far! There are 176 videos, which is 153 more than there were 16 months ago. That's because recently each time there's been an update, two videos have been added. While they're not always added on a Friday as promised, they are more or less weekly, and the extra video each update is helping the site grow more quickly.

The videos are scenes from classic DVDs, clocking in at around 10 to 25 minutes each. Each video comes with a description that tells what decade it's from, the length, and most importantly the names of the classic gay pornstars.

Although I am a particular lover of the classics in gay porn, the few vintage and classic gay porn sites out there make no effort to tell you who the stars of their videos are. It's info that's greatly appreciated. You can also click on the names to see all of the scenes that they are featured in. The videos are offered in both WMV and Quicktime formats in full scene and clip downloads. The WMVs come in three different sizes - the highest quality is 720x480 at around 1.4 Mbps, the next is 360x240 @ approx kbps, and the lowest is good for dialup users, shown at 220x144 at about 96 kbps. The Quicktime versions are shown at 720x480 at around 1.5 mbps. Since these videos are remastered, the quality does vary a bit, and you aren't going to want to try to enlarge the ones from the 1970s too much, although the 1980s videos are better. In a way the quality does add to the classic charm, although I do have to warn you that it might take a bit to get used to if you're coming right over after watching some modern porn. There are even a couple videos that were shot in black and white!

The picture sets are vidcaps of the highest sized WMV. They are 720x480 although a little below average vidcap quality. They are good for a look if you're wanting a preview of the action of a video or just want to check out the pics while waiting for videos to download. If you're not already a classic porn lover, let me tell you what to expect here. Since the videos are from the 70's and 80's, expect plenty of natural unshaved guys of all types from twinks to hunks. We're talking plenty of hairy chests, legs and asses, and yes - hairy balls. Back then pretty much no one in porn had the perfect bodies we see these days - we're talking real men who did these videos because they loved doing them and were into sex more than the cameras.
