GayDemon's review of HomoActive TV

Homo Active offers a good-sized collection of gay DVD titles including plenty of fisting, barebacking, sports-themed action, pissing and Euro punks. Rather than having members subscribe for a set period of time, Homo Active offers their full gay porn DVDs as pay per view so you can pay for each minute watched, and some titles are also available to download and own. You can browse all the titles without signing up, although if you want to see a sample video you must register for a free account.

The Homo Active member home page is identical to the tour. There are links running across the top of the page, and on the right are theme and category links including my favorite - a link to ALL the videos. The page includes a studio list, a search box, recently added and best selling DVD's. One thing I didn't see is dates, but we've been told the site adds multiple DVD's every Tuesday and Friday, and exclusive titles are added on a third day. This adds up to a total of 10 or more new or newly remastered DVD titles added each week. There are currently 561 DVD titles, and over 2500 full scenes, which is less than our last visit because they are currently remastering all the DVD's so they're bigger, and better quality.

Let's talk about the streaming videos first. They are offered in Flash format, and are sized at from about 640x480 to 720x400, probably depending on the video's original size and whether it's widescreen or standard. The videos look good, and still pretty good when enlarged to full screen. The videos can be fast forwarded before they're fully loaded, they play smoothly and are DRM-free, so they should work for those on Macs and Linux computers. You can choose to watch an entire DVD with credits or choose a scene as you prefer.

Some of the videos at Homo Active are available to buy in MP4 format. They are the full unedited versions of the DVD's including the credits, and each DVD comes packed in a zip file along with the DVD cover art and a very handy help file in English, French and German. The videos I downloaded were sized at 720x480 at true DVD quality, so they looked good both at their original size and enlarged. Action was smooth and the sound was good, and best of all, these are DRM-free, so you can burn them or synch them to other devices. Expect each video to be over 1 1/2 gig.

Homo Active is offering something new - photos. Not all the studios are offering them, but I did find some DVD's that offered 3 pictures per scene. These pics are shown at 600x455, and are sharp and clear. While 2 pics per scene isn't many, the photos did help preview the action for the scene.

Since the videos here are shot by different studios in different niches, it's no surprise that there's a lot of variety here. I found smooth twinks, executives in suits, skaters and punks, tattooed bad boys, Euro guys, and the list goes on and on. As mentioned, there are videos featuring gay piss action, fisting, military themes, double penetration. Much of the action is hardcore, kinky or both, but I did find some hot masturbation scenes, as well.

There are 4 things worth mentioning here. First, each time you stream or buy a video you get points that can be used to watch more videos. Second, the DVD's in the Special Deals section aren't the lowest priced per minute as I found some titles in the regular sections that cost a few cents less per minute. And last, but not least, if you plan to watch a lot, the two most expensive plans include a free DVD download, which makes them very good values for power users.

Paying by the minute may or may not be a good value, depending on how much porn you watch. If you only watch porn videos a few times a month, or only watch a few minutes each time, paying by the minute could be a better value. Also handy is that any money you pay for credits has no expiration date for the time you buy at Homo Active. Another handy thing - you don't need to remember to cancel a membership as you only pay for what you watch.

Homo Active delivers good quality streaming videos, an easy to navigate site and good browsing and searching options. Their downloadable titles were very good quality, and although there are no dates on the updates, the owners say the site adds 10 or more DVD titles every week, some new to the site and others newly remastered from archived DVD's. I like the extreme and hardcore action in the videos, plus there are plenty of uncut cocks in the Euro and ethnic sections. If you're looking for lots of gay porn, variety and harder stuff like fisting, barebacking and piss, Homo Active is definitely worth checking out.
